Random Crashes Patch fix (Works for Bioshock Remastered too)
By Indy Fukajima
English:

Hey Guys,
I was having these crashes with Bioshock Remastered 1 and 2, specially when trying to reach Grace's Apartment in the second game. I've tried most of the workarounds but nothing worked. Then i tried this patch, which is a generic plus 4GB RAM patch for old softwares/games which had RAM limitations due to hardware specs back when they were released. It fix crashes for other games too, like Skyrim and TES: Oblivion crashes when you put some texture/graphic mods that require too much virtual memory, for example.

All you need to do is download this link:

https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371

Run the program, select the executable file of the game and wait for the success message, then just close the program and run the game.

Well, that's all.
Hope it helps you!

Basta baixar o arquivo desse link:

https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371

Rode o programa, selecione o arquivo executável do jogo e aguarde a mensagem de sucesso, depois é só fechar e rodar o jogo.
Espero que isso ajude!

I've just applied the fix, how are the results for other people?

So under the texture size in the .ini (the same one in my first post, and under the same thing ([Engine.RenderConfig] if you forgot)) is render distance, set that to 10,000; you don't really need a render distance of 30,000 units (considering most often the game's basically inside corridors that are likely not 30,000 unit's in length; it might not look as nice in the exterior sections, but you can avoid everything in 30,000 units of you from hogging up texture memory).

Also when right clicking the game in the Steam library, and go into properties, you can use "-dx9" (don't use quotes, it wouldn't read the -dx9 command otherwise) in the command line text window in the window that pops up (it should be empty, and it's the bottom-most field of the first window); it tells the game to ditch DX10 for DX9.

@TEG; the executable is in build/final in the game's install location in steamapps, if unsure abt that just use "browse local files" after right-clicking the game in the library, then unzip the patcher and tell it to patch the game's exe by manually browsing for it from wherever you unzipped from (to make it much simpler, unzip into the game's folder)

I take that back, crashing like every 15-30 mins after draining that one location.

The fix I found that works is to modify the ini file for this game in the appdata/roaming/bioshockHD/bioshock2 called "bioshock2SP" to use more than 512 mbs of texture memory (increase the memory by increments of 512 under the [Engine.RenderConfig] (512, 1024, 1536, 2048, etc)).
Past Grace's apt, but so far no crashes in the ~45 mins since applying the edit. You can also edit it to not use "high" settings for other graphical settings, but I'm not brave enough to edit something and not have a hint as to what is an acceptable change (I know the 512 setting from other game .inis, but is "low" a bad setting that increases rather than reduce bugs).

Also install notepad++, otherwise Window's will default to just plain notepad and it won't have the same formatting.
