Linked Fortresses - Coop Savegame
Av Just Chill
This coop savegame contains a map which provides 5 bases that are connected via zip lines. As it is "HardSurvival" on Day 101 don't expect it will be easy even if you have plenty of resources to use. Not a single cave was visited nor was any enemy (neither on the bottom of the sinkhole) touched. So it's up for you to fight through.

Introduction
Hi,

I've worked on this savegame almost a year already. I love The Forest and like to mess around in Creative Mode for building some wicked stuff.
Yet there are surely other games I like to play so it took me that long to finalize it.

First of all, I have to thank my three playtesters:
  1. Ghost_NPVN,
  2. Emre and
  3. phoenix_death12
They helped me enhancing the savegame, as there were various issues (like an invisible wall in one base), which only occured to clients but not to the host. They also confirmed that the savegame works for everyone (not just for me as host). Even though starting it up will lead to some lags, so be patient until it is running properly.
If you experience weird stutter every second when you start as host, save your game immediately. It should help a bit (at least it appears to do that for me... Might be a placebo?)

Beside of that we either found out that the zip lines (especially the long ones) can lead to issues.
Mostly these issues occur to the clients. If the host jumps onto a long zip line and a client goes after him / her, it may be possible that the client detaches automatically from that line and falls to death.

Rather use a zip line only if no one else is using it. That should be the savest method. If the host is not responding it might be either an issue for the client to detatch from the line.

I guess the devs had something in mind when they limited the range of the zip lines, but if you play as host, you shouldn't experience such issues.
As mentioned the clients are the ones to suffer. :(

So be careful with zip lines. ;)

Last but not least:
If you want to skip the main cave which leads to the sinkhole, you can simply get the ID card, the rebreather and then head down the stairs to the sinkhole:

XD

Here is a 1 hr video of a the "More Enemies" mod and either I took a good look onto the bases. :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgSlrfhP6x0
I had some minor issues with sleeping during the record, but I actually consider this as showcase issue as when I am not recording, the sleeping works perfectly fine.
There was A BIIIG lag, when I entered the sinkhole over the stairs. The reason for that is the mod with which I have enhanced enemy spawn.
You see yourself that I get killed by the mob in the sinkhole. XD
It's a ridiculous amount, but perfectly well for a coop game. ;)
DOWNLOAD
Click here to get to my Dropbox page, where you can download the Savegame.

There are two types of savegames.
  • The local saves
  • and the Steam saves
I've added a "Readme.txt" file with instructions where you have to move both the files, but be sure to make a backup of your own SLOT01 files before you overwrite anything!!!

If you have no experience with the Dropbox, be sure that you don't need an account. I've taken two screenshots to show how to download the file.
They are german, but it should work in the very same way for you:
Click this window away, it's just an offer to make an account. But you don't have to do that.
"Herunterladen" means "Download". If you click on that, two options will appear. Choose "Direct Download" to get it onto your PC. You can also save the file into your own Dropbox account, if you want, I don't mind. :)
Update 101
I played one more ingame day (to day 101) as of adding additional meat to some drying racks, where I have forgotten that.
Hopefully all are covered now.

Should take a while until the players need to go hunting again. :P
Startpoint
Just to give some more details of the savegame...

You start aside of the plane (I've built a tent which I used to save the current char there).
(On the map screenshot you see the player char as a round white dot, with a white circle around that dot and a white triangle that shows the direction in which the player char is looking.)
The screenshots were taken of the map mod:
https://modapi.survivetheforest.net/mod/13/map

It's day 101, so be sure that there will only be the hardest cannies and mutants running around.
ALL CAVES are untouched! So is the bottom of the sinkhole.
So be sure that you will face these areas fully inhabited by baddies.
If you want, I can recommend the "More enemies" mod by Hazard:
https://modapi.survivetheforest.net/mod/76/more-enemies-plus-deluxe-extra-super

With that you will face 5x more enemies, which is close to be ridiculous when it comes to the bottom of the sinkhole. XD

Be aware that you start with a naked char of course.
I've only picked up the stuff, that can be found in the plane:
Yet all bases have ENOUGH stuff for you to gear up in an instant.
Main Base

The Main Base is located far north directly on the end of a big river branch.
Left and right of the base is respectively one lookout point located. These lookouts are small tree house bases and are mostly used to quickly get into the base from the outside, without having to use the regular big bridges and gates.
Furthermore these lookout points are located nearby a small pond where the players are able to get some water for their pot (it's still dirty water so be sure to cook it).

The big advantage of the Main Base is, that it is connected to ANY of the other 4 bases. And ANY of the other 4 bases is connected with the Main Base. So it's not only the main, but also the junction base.

For itself, the Main Base provides almost everything you need. A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of weapons, explosives and food. Animal pelts are located outside underneath the fence way. Armor can be found either underneath the fence way, but is also located in the bigger north tower (including weapons, explosives and material storage). The smaller south tower mainly provides food.

Junctions:
From the top of the north tower you can reach following locations:
  • The zip line to the west leads to the Snow Base.

  • The zip line to the north leads to the airplane cockpit.

  • The zip line to the east leads to the northern part of the Ocean Base.

  • The zip line to the southwest leads to the Geese Lake Base.

From the top of the south tower you can reach following locations:
  • The zip line to the southeast leads to the Cannibal Lake Base.

Known issues:
  • The two towers are that high, that you will get into the snow biome and start to freeze. So be sure to equip a warm suit before you climb the towers!

  • Sometimes a crocodile is stuck underneath the base foundation. You may hear its attacks, but it is unable to reach you.
Snow Base

The Snow Base is located in the far northwest.
It is the only base that includes a working elevator. But as you cannot call the elevator from the top (only from the bottom), be careful when the upper elevator door is entered as you might fall to your doom, when the elevator is currently at the bottom. ^^
There are surely stairs either available to get down to the lower level.
The base is built into two biomes. The snow biome starts only on the upper area, while the lower area of the base is outside of the snow biome.
However, if you want to use a zip line back to the Main Base or to the Cannibal Lake Base, you need to get into the snow biome for sure.

There are also two extra zip lines available. One takes you down to the big cove where you can use another zip line across the water.

Another zip line leads to a buried part of the Flintlock pistol.

There is either another zip line (on a lower area of the tower), which leads to a lookout point in the snow biome at a very cold lake. There is either another buried part of the Flintlock pistol nearby.
Even though collecting the parts is redundant as you can easily get that gun from a weapon holder at any base.

Junctions:
From the top of the snow tower you can reach following locations:
  • The zip line to the east leads to the Main Base.

  • The zip line to the southwest leads to the Geese Lake Base.
Geese Lake Base

As the name already tells, this base is built on the Geese Lake. It is located southwest underneath the sinkhole.
This lake is known for having a cave entrance under water. So the base has two holes in its foundation where the players can dive down for accessing that cave (rebreather usage is advised).

On the east of the base is a lookout point, which is built of 2 tree houses. There is either a fixed high seat (probably built by the cannies?), which is accessible by a rope. That one is either connected to the lookout point.

Two of such high seats are either located directly inside the lake. So the base is built around these and they can be considered as a naturally included part of the base, even though these are fixed buildings.

On the big top of the base are a few zip lines leading north. One directly stops nearby the cave entrance, another one leads further out to the big bay where another zip line is available to cross the bay.

Junctions:
When heading up the tower, almost on top but still on the staircase a zip line is located.
This one leads east to the Cannibal Lake Base.

From the top of the tower you can reach following locations:
  • The zip line to the east leads to the southern part of the Ocean Base.

  • The zip line to the north leads to the Main Base.

  • The zip line to the southwest leads to a small island with a buried part of the Flintlock pistol. There is a safehouse on the island.

Known issues:
  • As the name tells, there are a couple of geese flying to the lake. They will simply fly through the base walls and land on the wooden foundation swimming around on it. XD
You can easily hunt these geese down, but rapidly press the "Use" button when doing so. Otherwise their meat will be lost (falls through the foundation). This can be considered as minor glitch. I like to build bases on water as cannies and mutants drown pretty quick. :P
Cannibal Lake Base

This lake is mainly known for its cannibal cottages nearby (it's either a spawn point of baddies). But also for its supply of ropes and cloths. It's located far south and southeast from the Geese Lake.

There is either a direct zip line to the yacht and a way back to the shore (hence there are sharks in the water).

The base either has a lookout point, which is located directly above the rear entrance of "Cave 2". Which is the cave where the player will find the map and the compass. Yet... Not from this side as it's the back entrance and you have to pass a few cannies before you reach the other side with the map and the compass.

Junctions:
From the top of the tower you can reach following locations:
  • The zip line to the north leads to the Main Base.

  • The zip line to the east leads to the northern part of the Ocean Base.

  • The zip line to the southeast leads to the plane wreck.

  • The zip line to the southwest leads to a headland with a big tree. There is another part of the Flintlock pistol located.

Known issues:
  • Similar to the Geese Lake, there will be geese landing on the wooden foundation and "swimming" around on it. Their dead bodies shouldn't glitch through it, if you hunt them but don't take any chances and harvest their precious meat immediately.
Ocean Base

Aside of the Main Base, the Ocean Base is probably the biggest one. It is located far southeast and consists of two sections. The southern and northern part.
Both parts are connected via docks. At all these are 4 islands. The two big islands contain the southern and northern part of the base respectively, while the two smaller island only act as connectors for the docks.
The southern part is basically just a very high wooden foundation with a safehouse underneath it.
On top of it, there is a Gazebo used as a tower as in any other base.
Either on the top is one zip line that leads to the cliffs, where an elevator is located to move your chars up. Instead of the zip line you can also use the big bridge to get there, but why the hassle? XD
There is either a zip line that moves you aside of the northern part of the Ocean base.
If you want some boat ride, the docks heading out into the ocean provide a few of them.

Now to the northern part of the Ocean Base. That one actually consists a real base with 2 levels. Full of goodies and food.
On the northern end of that island there is either a big bridge that leads back to the main land and docks with a few boats (happy shark hunting :P).
On top of the base, there is one zip line that leads to the island of the southern part of the base.
Then there is a foundation used as some upper level, where two additional zip lines are available.
One of them leads on top of the foundation of the southern part of the base, the other will lead you to the cliffs where the elevator is located.

Junctions:
From the top of the southern part tower you can reach following locations:
  • The zip line to the north leads to the northern part of the Ocean Base.

  • The zip line to the northwest leads to the lookout point on the cliffs.

  • The zip line to the southwest on top of the stairs leads to the plane wreck.

Before you reach the top of the northern part tower, there is a zip line heading to the west. This one will simply lead you to the lookout point on the cliffs.

From the top of the northern part tower you can reach following locations:
  • The lower zip line (under the stairs) to the north leads to a lookout point on top of a plateau.

  • The upper zip line (on top of the stairs) to the north leads to the Main Base.
Apodosis
I've forced Creative Mode with mods and used Better Blueprints to achieve unlimited zip lines.

Ultimate Cheatmenu[modapi.survivetheforest.net] were used for Creative Mode and Noclip for not having too much pain building this stuff.

Better Blueprints[modapi.survivetheforest.net] were used to be able to rotate blueprints into both directions and have lesser restrictions with placing these. Including umlimited zip line length.

YOU DON'T NEED ANY OF THESE MODS ACTIVE FOR THE SAVEGAME TO WORK FOR YOU!
It works fine without these mods.
