1. How to complete a level
To complete a level, you will need to move from platform to platform (moving left and right, jumping and double jumping, avoiding or attacking things that will hurt you) to reach the end portal. The end portal looks exactly like the portal you stand in front of when you first enter a level.

Start portal

End Portal

See, exactly the same!
2. Things to collect
Like any game, it wouldn't be a platformer if you didn't have the option to collect something and rack up a score!

In this game, it's coins! Sweet huh? Let's hope we can spend them later on.

The coins look something like this ⓥ (but in copper, silver and blue) as you can see.

Want to know how you did?

If you want to know how you did, either dying or your mum is calling you to dinner (I'm 24, it happens to me too), on the menu screen you'll see a number/number at the top. Mine says 2/5. This means I collected 2/5 coins.

3. Things to avoid
It also wouldn't be a platformer if it was too easy, which is why you have things to avoid.

The obvious, falling

Jumping from platform to platform can be difficult to judge, or you may forget to double jump. Sadly, missing that platform will make you fall into the abyss and poor little dungeon kitty will have used up her last of her nine lives.

Losing all your health

Your health bar is the red bar in the top right corner and everything below Knockback, knockback, knockback! will take away health. Watch it! Your health bar does not reset once you've completed a level.

Spike balls

Spike balls don't have a knockback but they do move, so they could easily come around and hit you again. They hurt!

Knockback, knockback, knockback!
From this point on, you're going to see the word knockback a lot.

Owch, owch, hot, hot, fire!

Fire burns might only take away some of your health, but it has a deadly knock back. Kitties don't like fire or charred fur, so avoid it as best as you can. Wait until the fire has died down, not when it's flaming upwards to jump over it!

Somethings in my foot! Owch, a spike!

Spikes are the same as fire. Not deadly, but that knockback is (see the image above, kitty is doomed). They can be above or below platforms, so watch where you jump!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaa, monsters!

Scary stuff, but there's monsters in this game! It wouldn't be a dungeon without them. Different monsters move in different ways, some fly up and down, some fly horizontally and others move along the platforms. Their damage is also different, some won't one hit you like others, but you have to be careful any monster doesn't hit you too much, and of course watch out for that knockback. Most if not all monsters have knockback. You can either dodge them or fight them.

4. The little annoyances
Platformers can go from easy to hard in seconds if you spawn in the wrong level. These might not be annoyances for you, but I'm sure they will be if you get your timing wrong!

Moving platforms

A classic! They move up and down and side to side, varying in speed. Remember, get that timing right so you don't slam your keyboard!
5. Last but not least...
... have fun!
