IJN Akatsuki

Beskrivelse
The Imperial Japanese Navy Destroyer Akatsuki, lead ship of her class.

Built at 1:1 SM dwarf scale, you can walk around her and explore the conning tower, bridge, aft magazine, AA mounts and some limited space below deck.

----------------------
INSTRUCTIONS:
Be warned, this thing is pretty big and your mileage may vary depending on your PC specs. However I'm running her at about 120 FPS and my machine isn't that good either.

Just WELD HER DOWN! There's a weld point on her bow (teal colored).

In a flat world, turn off gravity with a grav generator, make a little pillar on the
ground 2 blocks high and weld her to one side of the upper block. Restore
gravity. You can now place down the world water block and enjoy her in her natural habitat.

To climb up ladders, look for invisible drivers seats on the end of the ladder. Double press E to quickly port to the top of the ladder. Most ladders are climbable this way.

--------------------
NEEDED MODS:
The Modpack, The Modpack BETA, The Modpack Polygons, The Modpack Glass, Cannons Mod (Fixed), Modular Engine Parts by Lord Pain, Car Interior Parts by Lord Pain and The Modpack Legacy Support.

--------------------
DESCRIPTION OF FEATURES:
- Fully decorated bridge with controls for guns, torpedo tubes, lights and horn.

Controls on the bridge from left to right: [1] rotate guns 90° to port, [2] elevate guns for AA fire, [3] FIRE GUNS, [4] switch on navigational lights, [5] toggle fog horn, [6] rotate torpedo launchers 90° to port.

- Fully decorated aft magazine (below the shelterdeck turret).

- Fully decorated conning tower with three decks.

- Fully decorated front bunker.

- Rotating gun turrets and torpedo launchers.

- Working AA mounts (Look for the seats on each gun. Button 1 to fire.)

- Functional davit on port side to launch a motorised gig.

- Working searchlight (Rotated to port).

- Rotating fire control director (You can also sit in it, look for the seat block).

- Hull number 10 on the bow.

- Japanese on the side reads (from right to left) AKATSUKI in Katakana.

- Nautical Flags flying on the main mast. Flags include Alpha (undergoing
speed trials), Charlie (Affirmative), Juliet (messaging by semaphore) and for the IJN legendary signal Zulu ("The fate of the empire rests on the outcome of this battle. Let each man do his utmost!")

- The door underneath the second smokestack leads to the "utility room" where some of the controllers and logic stuff is hidden. For your convenience there is also a grav generator if you want to fly around the ship.

--------------------
SPECS:
Length: 118,5 m

ARMAMENT:
6 x 127 mm Type 3 dual purpose naval guns

4 x 25 mm AA guns
4 x 13 mm machine guns

--------------------
INACCURACIES:
Sadly, there are some inaccuracies because of Scrap Mechanics limitations or scarce information leading to a higher degree of artistic freedom.

- First and most glaring is that this particular Akatsuki carries 3x4 torpedo launchers instead of 3x3. This is a result of the launcher mounts needing to be odd-width (center bearing) and the torpedos being 2x2. So, either the middle torpedo or the whole mount would not be centered. So I decided to swap them for the Shiratsuyu class' quadruple launchers. Enjoy the higher firepower I guess ;)

- The interior is -apart from the bridge- strictly made up, as I lack any meaningful deck plans.

- AA armament and positioning is taken from the later refit as shown in the WoWS model, because it looked more interesting. Akatsuki itself never carried this as she was sunk before the refit.

- Also, I'm very sorry the flag isn't accurate. I'd have loved to have her run under the rising sun, but with the limitations of Scrap Mechanic, it's just impossible to build that flag at this scale. It always ended up looking like a Union Jack, so I decided to go with a normal Japanese flag.

--------------------
FINAL COMMENT:
Despite the inaccuracies I think she turned out rather well. So, use her as a model in a maritime world, as a PvP or roleplaying map, or just explore her on your own.

Just treat her as the first-class lady that she is, Commanders ;)

Thanks for checking out my model, there's more to come, soon!
