Create a river out of ponds

This guide will explain a small "exploit" i found out today which will help you in creating a river in your garden!

Step 1: Place your ponds...

Start off by placing 2 or more ponds similar to the screenshot below:



I just used 2 of the biggest ponds, but you can use any of them depending on how well you can manage to mask them with the following method.

But GeneralM13, we can't place any plants close to ponds!

When you try to place anything too close to the ponds you will be met with the realization that the game does not allow you to do this:


BUT i have found a fix for this which i will explain next!

Step 2: Paving the way to beauty

To Start: place a piece of paving slab.
(it doesn't matter which one as long as you can fit it close to your ponds)

For optimal results try placing it like this:

Step 3: Choose your decorations

For the Next step you want to place anything you wish to hide the seams of the ponds with close to the edges of the pond.

This can be anything you feel like, including Plants, Trees, Rocks or what ever.


For my Example i will use a plant so you can all see what's about to happen:


Notice that the paving slab is still under the plant in the screenshot, it's serving it's role already because can place the plant close to the ponds, where we were not able to earlier!

Step 4: Floating Decoration?

When you think your decoration is in the right spot, remove the slab
And you will see that the decoration you placed on top of it is now floating slightly above ground:


Note: If you were placing a Rock or other prop you are now done and can continue onto the next part of your pond with the previous steps to hide the seams.

But since we are planting a bush, We are gonna continue!

Step 5: Profit!

With the slab removed (i moved mine to the side for later use)
Pick up the plant/Tree/Whatever you are trying to plant, but do NOT place it down!


Instead, Cancel the item move (Default is Right Mouse Button),

If you did not place the plant to close to the pond you should get something like this:


And as you can see:

Now you have a plant where you were not able to place one before!:

Now go and create something B-E-A-UTIFUL!

oh I'm sad, I seemed to have showed up too late to enjoy doing this, But I have walked on water in the "Job You Can't Refuse" and the Chairs and pillows hover and bounce off the pool in another one of the Luxury jobs. That was fun but I wanted to be able to change the way the ponds and vegetation aren't able to look as if they naturally fit together. It's seems like I should be able to place a fountain ⛲ or somehow make water flow and possibly even dig a trench to fill up instead of a pond.
