BuilDB usage
By Sephrajin
Rebuild one's skill-tree for each of the profiles is annoying.
This shows you how to reuse existing/previous builds.

Just another readme with few visual examples.

Intro
On your way to gain infamy, you'll have to re-set your profile builds often.

Also, you might want to try different builds, more than you currently have profiles at hand.

To get rid of that hour long fiddeling and/or alt-tabing you can use a mod that will help you with that.

This guide will show you how to install the mod and use it's functions.

I'm not endorsed or related to the mod author in any way and this guide was written with the aim to help.

If you dont like to use mods please skip this guide.
Installing Mod: Buildb
This mod is required to export your currently prefered builds, as well as import them later on.

You can download the mod from this page:
http://pd2mods.z77.fr/buildb.html

You will also need this to prepare and save the builds ingame:
http://pd2mods.z77.fr/quick_keyboard_input.html

Open: <PD2 Install Dir>
Create subdir: <PD2 Install Dir>/Mods

Open the downloaded file: BDB_24.zip (or higher number on later updates)
Copy the contained folder named 'BuilDB' into the new created folder '<PD2 Install Dir>/Mods'.

Gratulations, you just installed your first mod! :)

--------------------------

Now, this might work already, if it doesnt, the BLT 2.0 is required.
Get it there: http://paydaymods.com/download/
Or download it directly from Github[github.com]

Basicly, do the same as you've already done just before.
Only exception is, the DLL file comes into the folder with the payday2.exe.
Installing the Templates
The mod BuilDB has to store the builds somewhere,
that is done within the folder - which you have to create: <PD2 Install Dir>/Mods/saves

There, create a textfile named: buildb_builds

Now, optional, you can copy paste this following text:
http://pd2skills.com/#/v3/::: --------- 'Seph's Templates' --------- https://pd2builder.netlify.com/?s=00l0-530003812004X25140-6&p=k&a=0&t=0&d=42 -= Stealth Basic (0-100) =- (v2) High Concealment, Low Detection Rate // I have 31 points left https://pd2builder.netlify.com/?s=1G001010e10-6100034Fk00011c&p=e&a=1&t=4&d=0 -= Berserker Crit Basic (0-100) =- (v2) Anarchist by default, Inspire, No Frenzy, low detection rate, high crit, 26 points for specialisation https://pd2builder.netlify.com/?s=1I1G0-4610-901410-4h14&p=e&a=1&t=4&d=0 -= One Down Basics V(+)-100) =- (v2) Anarchist by default, Inspire, 1 Joker with aced Hostages, 9L ; As V-100 you have 28 points left to spend for specialization. http://pd2skills.com/#/v3/::: --------- My Stuff ---------

I've included my templates as an example and tbh as an external save for my builds.
I like them all, and like to share them.
Feel free to adjust them to your needs/preferences if they should differ.

Only the 'Shotgun Runner' and the 2 sentry builds have a detection rate of 75, next 'high' is the Minigun with 69.
Everything else is 35 or below.
Getting used to
By now you have a new line with 'buttons' on your skill-tree-window:

If you click on the "Import Template" you can verify if the previously copied templates are stored:

Then a new 'window' will show up, and it should look like this:

If not, you can do so now, by clicking the "open buildb file":

If you have a new build, simply click on "Save":
(I recomend to edit the file right after, and name it to easy reckognize it again)

Saving the templates properly
Once you have saved a skill tree of your like, it will look like this in the buildb_builds textfile:
http://pd2skills.com/#/v3/mfECALjkIr:efLJKgr:tfeC:glJR:fLhIGr:ibcdea:pT8::: Anarchist Drahtzieher Sanitäter (28), Überlebenskünstler (28)

While this is cool for an automated generated text, it doesnt help much later on, when you have multiple entries and look at them a year later.

The author of the mod (TdlQ) was very thoughtfull, kudos at this place!

As you see, the stored data contains 2 lines of text.
The first line consists of 2 parts, 1. beeing the pd2skills URL and the 2. (seperated by a >tab<) beeing the description.
The second line is the 'tooltip' shown in the upper right corner.

This said, we now can change the description, which is everything after the tabulator-character.

Would become something like:

For the tool tip, i've tried to come up with a template that informs what equipment is supposed to be used with these skills.
Deck: Deckname / 1: Primary / 2: Secondary / 3: Throwable / E: Melee / Equipment / Vest: Light (-- comment --)

Would become something like:
Deck: Grinder / 1: Akimbo Brothers Grimm-Shotgun (Dragons Breath) / 2: GSPS-12G-Shotgun / 3: Molotov / E: Carpet Knife / 2 Medic Bag / Vest: Light (-- CS 0-200=easy --)

It is highly recomended to do a backup copy before and an additional copy after your changes - before going into 'bug fixing'.
Enjoy
Gratulations!

You now have as many profiles you want, for the factor of time you need to find the weapons/equipment you had used with those skills.

Acknowledge, it is slightly more effort to save a template, but this way, you'll always know wether or not you have saved this template - or at least which (part of which) line you have to replace.

Because 15 profiles / skill tree's are not enough for this game! :p

Hope this helps!

I have a list of low detection builds if you're interested:

This mod does exactly that, by following the guide you will create a text file where you will saw all your builds, with names and more.

Is there a way to save skillsets to like a text file or something, so I dont have to screenshot everything or use a program to decode things. (Like in plain text, for the sake of easy saving)

Yeah, its a small detail that makes a difference, still if you dont have the time to update the guide people can still see these comments and know that the tabulation key is pretty important!

But yeah I need to update this guide for the (as I call it) "keyboard" thing.
Hope I'll manage to do so this week.

I found out what the problem was, as I said I did install properly everything since I could see the buttons in game under the skill trees and, since I copied Sephrajhin's example builds, I could see his builds when I clicked Import from file. I couldnt however understand how to save properly mines, I understood that I had to copy and paste the skill tree url and then write the name of it near it but I thought you could to use spacebar and not the tabulation button; however after trying it I managed to put my skill trees in the buildb text document! Your suggestion to read even what's written on the site really helped since it was there that it was written! Thanks a lot for the mod, Ive always hated going up infamy levels and having to re-do all my skill trees everytime! :steamhappy:

"Ive installed it properly", no, you probably haven't. Try to read what's written on site (homepage included) and pay special attention to phrases stating "It requires *things*."

Look in your inventory skill tree.
At the bottom of the screen are buttons.. "Save" is one of these buttons.

That is probably due ot the new 'keyboard' support, I'm using a lower version due to that too.

Also I should add that after I click to open the buildb file and then I click save my game crashes! I dont know if Im doing something wrong or not.

Hello! Ive been searching for a mod like this for a while, Ive installed it properly and created the text named buildb_builds properly and the mod works! The only problem is that I cant understand correctly how to save a skill tree, would you mind helping me out? Thanks!

Displaying 2 lines has been introduced in r7, released on 19/07/2015. What's new is the use of QuickKeyboardInput to customize immediately name and description of the build you're saving.
