Overview
----------------
This is one of the most ridiculous acheivements in Deponia.
Needless to say, many people will pull their hair out trying to obtain this acheivement. Since the game's release, it has been the rarest acheivement, being acheived by less than 5% of the Steam Community.

----------------
Shortcut?
----------------
Please read about and try this shortcut before claiming my guide is useless. Failing to do so will earn you a insta-block if you complain about my long method in the comment section. I didn't come up with the shortcut, so I'm not going to write a whole guide about it and pretend it's my idea. I only came up with the longer method, which isn't so bad if you're stuck using it, and know how to speed-game.

  • Some people say if you start a new game on Droggeljug mode - but switch to a near-endgame save file - you can essentially "skip" the meat and boredom of getting this acheivement.
  • You go through the tutorial on a new game in Droggeljug Mode and go back to the main menu to access a later save file. You probably still have one considering you had to complete the game in order to unlock Droggeljug.
  • This hasn't worked for everyone, though. Myself included. At the time I made this guide, the discussion boards didn't seem very hopeful. Therefore, I tested and outlined the method used in this guide.
  • If this works for you, please stop reading this guide, because you don't need to try my strategy. It'll save your sanity if the shortcut works! If it doesn't, come back and read my guide for tips on how to complete the acheivement.
  • Regardless, this guide is here for you hardcore gamers ;D If you're curious about how to complete this acheivement from scratch, please read this guide! It's entertaining if not useful.

--------------------------------
Problems with either way
--------------------------------
The main roadblock being all dialogue - however simple it may be - is replaced with, "droggeljug."
Especially in multiple-choice situations, this can be devastating since you cannot distinguish between choices. Nothing changes when you switch to Droggeljug mode besides the use of Droggeljug. All dialogue and interactions are left in the same order in the hidden game code - same as when droggeljug mode is turned off.
Strategy
The strategy for completing the acheivement takes determination and the patience to follow directions.
The number of times you are forced to see the word droggeljug is mind-numbing.
I suggest you work toward this only if absolutely bored and to do it in one sitting so you can wash it all out of your mind later with a nice, hot shower.
  • Go to the main menu and put a check mark at the coffee cup icon.
  • Turn off the audio. Hearing "droggeljug" non-stop is very annoying.
  • Start a new game.
  • If you've played through Deponia, and remember some simple dialogue options, go ahead and proceed. You MUST pay attention to the placement of choices in dialogue.
  • You need to start and complete the game with droggeljug turned on. You don't have to complete this mode in one sitting (with no breaks) but it's recommended. It's easy to lose track of where you are in a dialogue, especially when all it says is, "droggeljug."
  • Some dialogue options disappear once you ask questions, answer them, or listen to speeches. This is normal. It happens when you play Deponia without droggeljug.
  • When you're not picking up items, or running errands, use Shift-Tab in-game and pull up the web browser. Or save & exit the game and open the browser.
  • Open up a walkthrough of whatever area you're stuck on via Youtube. Pay attention to the placement and content of dialogue in those videos. Make sure you're looking at a video that's not on droggeljug mode.

Don't bother with the shortcut. They changed the requirement with some update. In early versions, it was indeed possible to just load any savestate at the very end and finish it in droggeljug mode. In later versions, deactivating droggeljug mode at any time invalidates the savestate for the achievement, thus it is a requirement now to play it from beginning to end in droggeljug mode. If it still doesn't work, it is likely due to the buggy state of the game. If it didn't work, you might try the droggeljug save on the official support page.

The only part of dialogue I found difficult to bypass was the one to get the key to the vehicle from the mines guy...

Assuming you've already washed the windshield, examined the interior, and not spoken to the guy before (there is no need before), the correct choice order when talking to him for the first time would be 2, 2, 4, 3, 2.
i.e. Asking what he does, asking about the keys, giving him the name, pink, and ballet.

There are some other parts with particular choices for the guy at the outer junction spot and you-know-who near the end... but I had no problem just fiddling my way through those dialogue choices by random chance.

I wouldn't call Droggeljug mode particularly masochistic. It wasn't difficult as far as achievements go. Collecting 50 Guild Cards in Monster Hunter World was far more of a chore.

Same as WidescreenRules. I have a save at the very end of the game. I started a new game on druggeljug mode, passed the tutorial, then loaded my save on druggeljug mode. Waited until after the credits, and then the achievement popped.

well, there are some people....lol
For example, the post-game bosses on Terraria were nigh-on impossible to beat using single-player mode, and yet YouTube...has videos people upload of themselves Solo-ing certain post-game bosses. *shrugs* I can't even do it with their tutorial. :infectedparty:
Then again, there are no acheivements for Terraria at this time.

HA! Not at all. Some people can't understand why I love getting as many achievements as possible, and I don't bother explaining it. I just do it. If someone wants to go through Deponia again with just Drogglejug going on the whole time, more power to them. :)

well, if you're asking me to delete this guide and replace it with one sentence saying try this shortcut or pull your hair out with my version, it's not going to happen, sorry XD:squirtooh::goblin:

I don't know what to tell you, then. Maybe Daedalic implemented a patch at some time that allowed this? I didn't expect it to work either, but sure enough it did. It was also at one of the last areas where you could make a save point. Don't know if that made a difference or not. And I would argue that in this case there's a difference between "hardcore" and "masochistic". :P
