Are you ready to face Despair?

In this game, there is a change to spawn Monokuma at the Garage Island (the player’s base). Having Danganronpa save files increases the odds, and having saves for multiple games also counts.

This is compatible with:
  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
  • Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
  • Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls
  • Danganronpa v3: Killing Harmony
Note: the save files from the DRv3 demo version aren't compatible

Monokuma drops strong equipment and a strengthener every time and can be a rather challenging opponent. His presence is indicated by his usual “Upupu” laugh.
The other way to increase the probability is finding the Danganronpa series posters throughout the game, and that's the purpose of this guide.

Sadly, there are no achievements for locating the posters or defeating Monokuma, except the experience and the items that he drops upon defeat.

If you like this guide, please rate it and give it a favorite! Thank you!
Stage 01 - Mashiro Garden Tower : 1F - General Affairs

The first poster is located upstairs and it is pretty straight-forward. You'll need to move all the way throughout the left side before reaching the right side before going to the next floor. It is almost impossible to miss.

Stage 02 - Monkey Tree House Village : Tree House - Lodging

Another easy to find, it is located immediately south from the place you climb up to the Tree House. You only need to activate a switch in order to unlock the door.
A piece of advice: don't step on the switch in this same room next to the poster, it is a trap.

Stage 03 - Mashiro Metro Plaza : B1 - Fountain Plaza

You will run into this one naturally over the course of the level, one room before the stairs to the next area. It is very hard to miss.

Stage 04 - The Belle Moi - Cabin Deck

Another one that you will run into throughout the natural course of the level. It is the poster in the north wall in the south corridor.
It is the area in which you need to put a stone on the statue in order to proceed.

Stage 05 - Coromo Hot Springs : Northwest Gate

This one too is on plain sight, however it depends on where you first arrive on this stage. The game randomizes the currents, so your party may start in any of the four available areas and the boss is located on the center of this island. Therefore, you might need to revisit the location if your party started elsewhere.

Stage 06 - Kaiyo Academy : Main Building - 3F

This one is immediately south to the place where you start the area, and also on the same room where a main story event takes place. It is hard to miss.

Stage 07 - Hirasaka Memorial Hospital : 4F - Office/Clerical

This one can be a little out of the way, but you should get it while exploring the area as you navigate for items/cleaning the enemies/completing the map.

Final Stage - Mashiro Nanotechnology Institute : Lab Area - LV1

This is the trickiest one.
After you gain access to the elevator and the laboratory, you'll face a sliding floor puzzle. Instead of proceeding to the left, following with the stage’s story, slide to the south where the lowered pillar is and then slide to the right to get to the door. Once throughout the door, you will come across a wall without switches, but it will still mark as unknown. Keep on walking until getting to the big room and there will be a hidden switch in the computer, it will reveal the hidden path. Once you leave the area, the switch will reset.

For anyone having a hard time with Monokuma, I find the following approach works well:
1. Charge up your attacks and swiftly move in to hit him while he's still roaming around unaware.
2. Once he starts chasing you, be ready to retreat the moment he attacks, but not before; let him get locked into his attack animation. Charge attacks while waiting for him to swing at you.
3. Quickly step back and then forward again after the hit and before he resumes his neutral stance. You can let loose your attacks while stepping toward him for a safe hit, then immediately dodge back again when he comes at you again.
4. If you need to backpedal, use the slowdown effect when you land a charge attack to check the minimap and confirm where you can retreat to. You do not want to back into a wall while being mauled by a robot bear...
5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 as necessary until he goes down. If he grows evasive, he's likely near destruction; sprint after and finish him off!

I've also encountered a metal Monokuma which dropped an huge amount of points when beaten.

I'm surprised that a guide for the Monokuma mini-boss wasn't made earlier.
