Go send your love to SvafaNordikaMan for creating these traits in the first place!

I really liked the idea of adding a little more diversity into planet habitability after coming across Svafa's Expanded Species Traits but I wasn't quite happy with how these traits were balanced. I also didn't want to saturate my game with over 40 traits for just these three.

So here's a separate mod for just the thermoregulation traits. I've changed the traits to have equal benefits and downsides and streamlined the effect to target just the three different planet climates.

---

These are the traits, with a quick explanation of each:

Ectothermic[en.wikipedia.org]
For species that don't produce their own body heat.
Dry Climate (Desert, Arid, Savanna) Habitability +10%
Frozen Climate (Arctic, Alpine, Tundra) Habitability -10%

Endothermic[en.wikipedia.org]
For species that control their own body temperature.
Wet Climate (Ocean, Continental, Tropical) Habitability +10%
Dry Climate (Desert, Arid, Savanna) Habitability -5%
Frozen Climate (Arctic, Alpine, Tundra) Habitability -5%

Thermogenic[en.wikipedia.org]
For species that generate excess heat to warm up their surroundings.
Frozen Climate (Arctic, Alpine, Tundra) Habitability +10%
Dry Climate (Desert, Arid, Savanna) Habitability -10%

---

Of course picking one of these traits is optional, you can think of your species as Mesothermic[en.wikipedia.org] if you'd prefer not tinkering with your own habitability but have the AI use it.

---

This mod overrides:
Nothing! Always compatible.
Tested on version 3.12.2 but should work with any game version.

You could just leave the exotics alone, but I see your point. I could swear I have/had another mod that had similar traits that DID work with PD.

@Werebat I don't see an obvious way to have these traits make any sense on Planetary Diversity's exotic worlds without changing the effects of the traits. For example what habitability would an Endothermic species have on an Eyeball World (Wet/Frozen)?

@Lesovikk I don't think this is relevant anymore but if the Photosynthesis mod updates to the latest patch I can take another look at supporting it.

Any chance this could be made compatible with Planetary Diversity?

You would just need to add PLANTOID to the archetype file.

Could you add support for the photosynthesis mod? Asking as it overwrites the archetype files.

This is hot. This is probably the wrong place to ask, but more of these 0 point perks that differentiate with good and bad quirks would be amazing.

Svafa is onto something but his perks feel way out of line with the vanilla idea of balancing traits.

epic!
