Outlaws of the Old West - MAP limits.
By caddy
I spent many hours travelling around the map on foot to determine its limits.
It was a dangerous & perilous journey but i managed to avoid bandit camps,
roaming horde of 4 bandits (Skull gang) & the many dangerous animals.
The map is divided into grid squares which are numbered
There are 9 grid squares horizontally & 16 grid squares vertically.
For example horizontally the squares are numbered 14.12 to 14.20
and vertically 2.14 to 17.14
Refer to the map.
The northern limit may be further but i could not continue due to well below
freezing temperatures & i did not have warm clothes, i was taking damage
- when i craft warm clothes i will go back to the northern limits in the mountains & check again
& update this guide.
UPDATE 16march2019 - went as far north as i could before i was killed by a bear attack from behind.
I had reached grid square 6.14 ( refer to the first map) Lost all my winter clothes so could not continue.
So map goes even more northerly than grid square 6.14 How far? Maybe i will try again to determine
the answer.
UPDATE 17march2019 - i can confirm through a reliable source that the northern limit of the map grid
is 2.XX southern limit is 17.XX western limit is XX.12 & eastern limit is XX.20
Therefore northwest corner map grid is 2.12 & northeast corner is 2.20
southwest corner map grid is 17.12 & southeast is 17.20
Map consists of a total of 16 x 9 = 144 grid squares & each grid square is 1 km x 1 km so the
total playable area at the moment is 144 square km (55.6 square miles).

NOTE: I start from the premise that coords are given in metric system. So, in coords 1.234.567:

7 = centimeter (0,393701 in)
6 = decimeter (3,93701 in)
5 = meter (1,09361 yd or 3,28084 ft)
4 = decameter (meter x 10)
3 = hectometer (meter x 100)
2 = kilometer (0,621371 mi)
1 = tens of kilometers (6,21371 mi)

So, given this premise, I assume that the last three figures are negligible and that the most important ones are those in positions 1 to 4. Therefore, I used ### as placeholders, previously on this text.

PS: I apologize for any mistake in my grammar, mainly about my use of prepositions.

Thank you, @caddy for your work. I'd like to contribute with some data. According to my research:

- Northern border is located in Y = 204.###
- Southern border is located in Y = 1.817.###
- Western border is located in X = 1.209.###
- Eastern border is located in X = 2.119.###

As it can be seen, there is a discrepancy between theoretical borders and actual ones.
This deviation increases at a yet unknown rate; occurring, i.e., borders at sector 16.19 are W = 1.915.### and S = 1.714.###.

A possible explanation to this phenomenon is in-game map sectors (squares) are larger than 1 x 1 km. My next goal is to measure as accurate as possible size of in-game map sectors (IGMS).

@Merck. Make sure you are only using numbers after the Teleport command. no commas. so if your map displays x = 1,200,000 y = 1,500,000, the command for this would be "Teleport 1200000 1500000". The only other reason I can think of that led me to being teleported to the wrong location was missing a zero or other digit in the command. Really easy when teleporting to round numbers like 1200000. Can't tell you the number of times that I have ended up outside of the map because I accidentally left out or even added one or two extra zeros

Having trouble using the teleport command. Even if input my coordinates from the map screen, it takes me to a different location. Have gotten stuck outside the map a couple times.

Numbers as listed here don't seem to work???

@Summitskibum I will try to remember to do that once my game finishes updating. Saw this post as steam hijacked my game for updating.

Thanks for your map mission!! So i think I red the dev's say they plan to make the map much bigger; just the fact there is no 1.1 grid currently i think confirms that. loooooove big maps (: i mean even now, most official servers are 60 players max to 144 grid squares... nice ratio <3

Well when I said "verify that the map is actually larger than the 15x8 square that we currently have" It's because in an earlier comment on this thread, I also said that "Admins can teleport around and even 1-2 cells past the invisible barrier. When outside the server map limits, the terrain will continue to render". I totally missed that comment on the store page
