Trim is especially usefull in helicopters such as the ka50.. imagine flying for 1,5 houres twisting your joystick all the time, this will make your hand hurt quite a bit.. so trim and you dont have to twist your joystick for more than a few seconds. ;-)
Regarding air refueling, then fly up behind the plane and match the speed of the tanker. Next trim the plane so you fly level before you try to refuel... This will make it more easy when you now only have to worry about speed and flying streight ;-)
TIP2..: in some joysticks you have some software that can be programmed.. If you select the axis of the trust and select an S patern trust then your trust joyistick become much more precise when you give example 40-60% power. This is very usefull when refueling wher you need small adjustment. ;-)
