Introduction, Starting the Game, and Screens

LOHAE, also known as the Land of Horticulture and Essence, is the first area of Farragnarok. It is an idle game based around planting & harvesting trees. You play as Zawhei Bacama, and you have waited your entire life to perform your duties as the Reaper.

You start on the Grow screen with a Helping Hand, the Flow On record, three seeds, $113 in your funds, 1 Essence, and two trees already planted.

The Grow screen is where you plant & harvest trees. You will spend a lot of time here.
The Shop is where you can buy & sell seeds, fruit, equipment, records, and more.
The Seed Vault is where the Beavers archive every seed you discover. They will allow you to clone seeds there, at a high cost.
The Data screen is where you can manage your save files. You can also download your save files to import them into the browser version of LOHAE. This is relevant information.
The FAQ screen holds, well, the in-game FAQ. Didn't think I'd have to point that out. It updates as you progress through LOHAE. Some helpful Beavers there will answer questions.
The [??] screen allows you to input certain codes for a little help. I'll gigglesnort you some hints about these codes later.
Finally, there is the button. This is a link to Zawhei Bacama's Paldemic client, where they chat with some of their friends and maybe give some hints on what to do?.

The goal of LOHAE is to grow trees. That's it. Kind of.

Deep below the Roots, the Titan Nidhogg slumbers. If you are not careful, it will awake, and wreak havoc upon LOHAE and its resident Beavers, who have been gnawing any naturally-growing trees in fear that too many will cause Nidhogg to rise.
The Grow Screen

To plant a seed in the Grow screen, click on it's picture, and then click again on the ground. And now, you wait. The tree starts off as just a barren trunk, but it will eventually grow leaves, flowers, and fruit. You'll know when you can harvest the fruit, because it will start to pulse slowly. To harvest fruit, click on the Helping Hand , and then click on the fruit.

You can crossbreed trees by growing two or more at a time. The flowers of the trees will grow into different, new fruit. The new fruit can have different shapes & colors. and can grow into differently shaped trees. You can see the parents, name, and price of a seed by clicking on the next to the picture of said seed.

There are four types of trees. You can tell what type a tree is by looking at its trunk. But how do you tell each type apart? It sure would be nice to know.

Sometimes the tree that forms the border around the Grow screen changes. I'm sure this means absolutely nothing whatsoever and is not important at all.
The Shop

The Shop is where, well, you buy & sell things. On the right of the screen is manicInsomniac [MI], the Bard of Doom (or is it the Decay Trickster?), who is not only the Shopkeeper, but also the composer of LOHAE's soundtrack. An eager Beaver hops up & down in the window.

There are two tabs in the Shop screen: The Buy tab and the Sell Tab.

Selling Fruit
In the Sell tab, you can sell any fruit you have harvested from trees. Click on a seed to bring up the selling popup. You can sell one fruit at a time, every fruit you have of that kind at once, or sell all except one so you can continue to plant that kind of seed without having to clone it. [MI] sometimes has something interesting to say about your produce, especially if it is remarkable in... certain ways.

Buying Stuff
In the Buy tab, you can purchase the Helping Hand Plus Ultra, ShogunBot's Ax, a cashlight, new seeds, and some new music discs made by [MI], with the money you make from selling your harvested fruits. To purchase an item, click on it, then click on the buying popup until you can click Yes. The seeds available in the shop change every hour.

Much like in the Grow screen, you can click on the next to an item to see a brief description of the item.
The Seed Vault

The Seed Vault is a vault that holds a copy of every seed you have ever owned. It's upkeep is the responsibility of all those Beavers hopping around the place. Here, you can pay the Beavers to let you clone a seed in the vault. It costs a lot to clone a seed, though, so choose carefully.

Click on a seed to read its description. Below the description is the button to clone the seed. You can also filter seeds by name using the filter at the top.

If you ever need to find a Beaver, this would be the place.
[??]

Well, here we are. What will most likely be your introduction to the gigglesnort-hideytalk of LOHAE.

The page is simple; the page's title, a large image of a green rune, a box that prompts you to enter a password, and a hint that reads "What is the Land of Horticulture and Essence's other name?".

Entering something meaningless into the password box doesn't do anything. But then, what do you enter into the password box??? Well, let's take a look at the hint.
"What is the Land of Horticulture and Essence's other name?"
There are a few incorrect answers that do acknowledge your research/knowledge, as well as a joke answer that gives you some pity funds.

Entering the true name of the Land of Horticulture and Essence will get you a large amount of funds (seriously, like, a lot), as well as an important piece of equipment, if you don't already have it.
Equipment
In LOHAE, you will find a variety of useful tools to assist your tree-growing task. Here is a list of those items.

Helping Hand
This is what you use to pick fruit off of trees. One at a time. Slowly. At least it's free.

Helping Hand Plus Ultra
With the Helping Hand Plus Ultra, you can pick an entire tree's worth of fruit in a single click! Give your index finger a well needed break! Get it now at your local Shop!

Nidhogg's Hand
Uh... Where did you even get this? At least it harvests fruit really freaking fast.

ShogunBot's Ax
[MI] totally totally does not have this in her Shop because she nabbed it when ShogunBot dropped it. With it, you can chop down trees by clicking with the ax and selecting which tree you wish to chop. But why would you want to chop down a tree?!

Cashlight
Yes, I spelled that right. You need this to discover what lies below. You can buy it from the Shop after you meet a certain requirement, or through a more gigglesnorty way.

Essence
I mean, I guess you can plant it? What would even grow from such an item?? Is it even a seed???

Records
These fancy music discs let you play different songs to enhance your tree-growing experience! Choose from Flow On, Saphire Spires, Ares Scordatura, Noirsong, Splinters of Royalty, or Vethrfolnir. All of these tracks made & sold by the lovely Bard [MI] herself in her Shop!

Yellow Yard
The true Waste's tool. I remember when I first got mine. You can use this to force a tree to grow very quickly. But do you know how to get it? Because I know and I'm not telling you.

Body Pillow of [REDACTED]
Seriously, where are you getting this stuff??? Well, you can use this to change the appearance & behavior of someone who lies below, but how do you even get it?
What Lies Below

Okay, so, by now, you've probably noticed that you can scroll way far down on the Grow screen. Yes, that's intentional. In fact, its a key part of the game. Welcome to LOHAE gigglesnort 2 - Electric Rootaloo.

In order to properly start exploring the Roots, you need the following equipment:
  • Cashlight
  • ShogunBot's Ax
  • A Decent Amount of Funds

To use the Cashlight, select it in your inventory and click. When you scroll down, you should see a friend!

This is your Guardian, who the community has taken to calling OwOBear, GhostBear, etc. The radius around your Guardian that is in the Light is determined by how many funds you have. Yes, the Cashlight runs on money. Why did you think it was named that?

In order to move around the Roots, you must plant trees. Yep, your Guardian was moving around down here as soon as you planted your first seed. The four different types of trees dictate whether you move up, down, left, or right. I sure hope you've figured out the difference by now, or you'll be stumbling around aimlessly until you solve it.

As you wander, you will see multicolored Essences dotting the Roots. To pick one up, move your Guardian's mouth over the item. They like to bite the Essences to make sure it's legit or something. Collecting these is surely important, somehow. There is a counter for them right next to your funds, as well as a distance away from an uncollected Essence.

You may also see glimpses of Nidhogg, which is LOHAE's Titan. She slumbers for now, so don't get too close with that Light of yours unless you're ready for a fight.

Achievements & Secrets
Came here looking for secrets, eh? Well, I won't outright tell you how get all of the achievements or solve all of the puzzles, but I can give you a few hints. }:]

If you don't want spoilers, look away now!!!

LOHAE
You get this achievement simply by playing LOHAE. Good job!

Woke Nidhogg
You get this achievement by getting too close to Nidhogg while she's sleeping. I hope you have a way out of that!

True Name
You have to find LOHAE's true name & enter it into [??] to get this achievement. Good luck!

I Gave Myself This Achievement
It's simpler than you think, unless it's borked. It might be borked. I'm still waiting on confirmation. If it isn't, then you just gotta clicc.

Killed Nidhogg
You heartless bastard. In order to do this, you must find a way to do damage to her in the first place. Maybe [MI] can help you?

Secret Alligator
In order to get this achievement, you must behold the gorgeous green scales of a Secret Alligator. But where would you even find one?

Purified Nidhogg
Hax!!! How did you even get a tree there?!

There is also currently one (1) secret achievement, but that one you'll have to figure out yourself. Shouldn't be too hard though, right?

Thinking Like a Waste
By this point, you've probably noticed the "Think Like a Waste" button. It is, arguably, one of the most important buttons in the game. When you open it, you'll want to head to the Console tab inside of it. I sincerely promise you that none of the others are very useful to you.

Inside the Console, you can hear people talk! Weird, right? Three characters talk here. One is a random Beaver, who hangs around the Grow screen and archives any new fruit you may discover, and also panic if someone wakes the Titan.

The second is your Guardian, who talks "a wittle bit wike dis!" It's annoying. It'll grow on you. Your Guardian will say which direction it travels in when you plant a tree, and also try to give you advice when fighting Nidhogg. You can also click it with a Helping Hand. It's rather endearing.

The third person is jadedResearcher [JR], who made Farragnarok. Isn't that just neat! She pops in sometimes to offer some top-tier gigglesnort hideytalk.
