Top 3 weapons you should get as a newer player.
By Tactical Cement
This guide is a bare bones guide to 3 weapons that are good for beginners. All of these weapons can be obtained from day one. Most of these weapons only require credits to obtain.

The Primary
Braton

This weapon is a straight upgrade from the stock Mk. 1 Braton. Everything except for the clip size is better. I highly recomend that you get this weapon as soon as you get the credits.

Advantages
  • Decent base damage
  • Great rate of fire
  • Fairly accurate
  • Disadvantages
  • Small magazine is a pain
  • Burns through ammo at a fast pace
The Secondary
Sicarus
This was the first weapon i ever got, it served me well while I used it. It requires some modding to make it decent, but it's not that hard to do it. It also sounds cool, not a major thing though.

Advantages
  • Great Damage
  • Reasonably Accurate
  • Disadvantages
  • The recoil makes it hard to control
  • The clip size is relatively small for a burst fire
The Melee
Cronus
This is good weapon for starting out; it is basically an upgraded skana. I would not recomend this to anyone planning on late game levels.

Advantages
  • Decent base damage
  • Easy to get the blueprint and materials
  • Disadvantages
  • Low base charge damage
  • Becomes obsolete on the higher levels

Braton, Lex, Bo. Used these up until i got the rhino frame and then i upgrades to a boltor, kunai and gram. All obtained with in-game farming.

I personally prefer the Lex to either the Sicarus or Aklato.

Hornet Strike +100% will kill pretty much all Corpus in a single shot (regardless of location.) Get armor piercing and you'll take out Grineer nicely as well. Throw on some fire damage and you can take Ancients out in about three shots as well. After that, upgrade reload speed and you're golden as long as you can hit the broad side of a barn.

Eh...Cronus is just a minor upgrade to a bad melee weapon. It's pretty much a newb trap, but if you can't find or afford anything else for whatever reason...I guess you could use it.

1) Bolto: Builds off Lato, is pretty easy to get the other resources for, and then builds into Akbolto, which is pretty darn good on its own through level 35 enemies. (it's much better if you manage to snag an early Hornet Strike)

2) Burston: Much much better than the Braton. Get the Braton for the rank exp, because it is easy to use and it is an upgrade of the Braton Mk-1. But Burston has good base stats (buffed, as of Update 9) and is useful for much longer than Braton due to its ammo efficiency.

3) Orthos: Stupidly OP charge attack; only needs two mods to be useful and even with just those mods is useful up through level 50 infested (a bit lower vs others). And it's worth keeping even once it's mastered just because it's one of -THE BEST- Charge Attack weapons in the whole game.

Don't get me wrong, the stats say the orthos is good, I just never had a good experiance with it.

orthos ftw

I'd say get a braton (Of course) and then just with the lato until you're a silver initiate (not that hard to be) and then get an orthos. Good damage + awesome charge damage along with a great range. When you can, get a kunai ASAP. Not THAT hard to make.

Why do people complain about the attack animations? It's hardly like it will stop you from being able to use the weapon just because it 'looks wierd". Pretty right on with the weapons though, been here since closed beta & (although I have my founders weapons) these are pretty good. Braton upgraded will kill most low lvl to mid level, Sicarus is just an amazing pistol & Chronus is good until you get a nice shiny melee

I'd say that the lex is a pistol you want to get cos it is unbelievably powerful although the recoil isnt amazing but you never seem to run out of ammo with it

I find the Cronus is still pretty decent late levels with the right mods. Also make sure it's potatoed so you can slam all kinds of damage and elemental mods on it. I like having attack speed mods on mine as well, as it's somewhat of a slow weapon. But it's excellent for stealthy missions.

after mastery rank two i reccomend making a rhino, a hek/strun, a kunai variant, and a scindo.
