Basic Instructions
**As of now, someone has beat me to loading the modified campaign to the Workshop - go there and download it. This guide is no longer relevant.**

Open 'Programfiles(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/shadowrunreturns/shadowrundata/streamingassets/content packs'

Copy and rename '/Dead_man_Switch' to ensure you have a clean backup if something goes wrong.

Rename the working directory 'Dead_man_switch - Character Importation Allowed'

Move 'Dead_man_switch - Character Importation Allowed' to '/Documents/Shadowrun Returns/Content Packs.

Move your safe copy of the original campaign back into 'Programfiles(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/shadowrunreturns/shadowrundata/streamingassets/content packs' and rename it 'Dead_Man_Switch'.

Run Shadowrun
Open 'Content'
Run the Editor

In the Editor

File
Open Content Pack
Navigate to '/Documents/Shadowrun Returns/Content Packs'.
Open 'project.cpack.bytes'

Edit
Edit Content Pack Properties
Select 'Allow Character Importations' and 'Can Import With Items'
Change Name and Title lines at top to indicate that this is not the original.
Set 'Starting Scene' to 'C01-S1_3yearsago'

You *may* end up creating a scene called 'Dead_man_switch - Character Importation Allowed' that is empty. If it is there, delete it - if not then don't worry about it.

In the editor window titled 'Story Data' click on the drop down menu and select 'Scene'
Scroll through the scenes and select the scene called 'Dead_man_switch - Character Importation Allowed'.
Click on the little gear icon at the top right of the 'Story Data' block and select 'Delete Asset' and delete that empty scene.

Now select 'File' then 'Publish Content Pack Locally'

This should take maybe a minute and then the editor will tell you that the pack has been published successfully.

Close editor

Alt/tab to Shadowrun
Select 'Back' and then 'New Game' and you should see your modified campaign file.

This will replace the unmodified campaign in your list but the original will still be there, jusst delete this modified one to get it back.

Now to figure out how to publish the modified campaign.

doing this, importing a character causes an infinite loading screen (i think it's trying to access the character creator while also importing a character, breaking the game)

Well, I didn't report it, or make a big deal about it. I just uninstalled that version and started a new character. I don't know if it was because I am running the game on my Mac and maybe the new version has a compatibilty problem with Mac? I have no idea. But, I've subscribed to and downloaded other UGC and haven't had any problems. That was the only one that corrupted my files and broke my game.

I haven't had a problem with it.

I did install the new Dead Man's Switch that someone uploaded to the Workshop and afterwards, it corrupted all of my save files and the game wouldn't load up. My game wouldn't work again until I deleted all of the Shadowrun Returns game files from my hard drive and reinstalled the game. I lost my characters and any/all progress I had made in the game.

Wanna cheat your pants off? When you select "Edit Content Pack Properties" there's a setting for "Suggested Karma Level". Altering it changes the number of Karma points available to new characters. I tried 999 once and it wouldn't run the game, but I was able to set it to 666 with no problem and proceeded to tear a blood-soaked path across Seattle like my own Guy Ritchie flick.

Now that I think about it, following this guide creates a new local mod so its not going to be affected by any updates specific to HBS' 'Dead Man's Switch' campaign.

This guide can be used if there are significant changes to the original campaign - I havne't seen any yet and don't really expect any.

As long as the guy who uploaded the modified campaign keeps it up-to-date then you won't need this guide.

With all the new dev changes to the DMS module, does that make this guide the one to use instead of the Workshop module again (at least until it's updated)? Or is that module more of an "add-on" that will work regardless of updates and changes made by the devs? Sorry, I'm still a little shaky as to how the modules and stuff work right now. :\

If you haven't seen it already, there's a modified'Dead Man's Switch' campaign in the Workshop that allows charaters to be imported so you don't need this guide anymore.

Has anyone else run into summing problems: inside the matrix for ESPs and outside the matrix for using shaman fetishes?
When I try on my imported character, the fetish or ESP AP number (in the bottom-right corner for the "spell/item") is red, and the icon is a few shades whiter.
