Mission Related
Skill Collector - Nero
Acquire all of Nero's skills.
Skills are acquired by spending Proud Souls, which are obtained by killing enemies, completing missions, and defeating the Bloody Palace. It takes 290,450 Proud Souls to obtain all of the skills for Nero. In the 7th gen version of the game Proud Souls were earned at a slower rate; in the Special Edition, luckily for you, Proud Souls are earned fast enough that you should be able to have enough to get them all near the middle of your Son of Sparda run, assuming you started on Human. If you want to get your skills faster, you can play the Bloody Palace to earn Proud Souls relatively quickly.

Skill Collector - Dante
Acquire all of Dante's skills.
Luckily for you, every Proud Soul you earn carries over to all characters in the game, so once you earn enough Souls for Nero, you have enough for Dante, and so forth.

Easy Does It
Clear all missions in Human Mode.
Complete the story mode on the easiest difficulty.

Done and Done
Clear all missions in Devil Hunter Mode.
DMC 4's Normal difficulty – get hit enough times and you might feel it. Get hit by a strong attack and you'll definitely feel it. If you played Human mode first, you should have at least half of the abilities and a good deal of health and DT upgrades. Shouldn't be much more difficult to finish than Human.

Hardly A Simple Task
Clear all missions in Son of Sparda Mode.
If you've done the previous two difficulties, though, you should have a majority of the abilities and upgrades, as well as a good idea of how enemies generally move and attack. Since this is just completing the difficulty, you can technically drag yourself through with items and such, but to save time you should really S rank each mission as you go. More on that under that specific achievement.

All Bow Before You
Clear all missions in Dante Must Die Mode.
Do not do this mode without all of the moves and upgrades. Have a really good idea of how to defeat any enemy. Even then, it may take some items to get through some of the harder areas. If you're not a typical hack and slash player, this will be difficult. Hard enemies to fight will be Blitzes, Alto Angelos, and Fausts. Often, many of these enemies will show up in early areas. Every enemy also has Devil Trigger, by the way – take too long to kill an enemy and they will activate it, giving them about double the health and immunity to getting knocked around.

Good tips to not get hit are to abuse the Charge shot – always have Nero's Charge shot going to start any encounter, and if you're going up against an enemy with a shield as Dante, charge up his Ebony/Ivory and unload that hailstorm of bullets into their face to destroy it. With Blitzes, kill every other enemy if you can, and attack the Blitz with charged Shotgun rounds at point blank range. Use your own Devil Trigger! If you're fighting a lot of enemies, or you're going up against a tough mob, don't hesitate to use your DT to help whittle them down more. You can always recharge it later with Taunts and combos. Use items to keep yourself alive as well.

Step into the Light
Clear all missions in Heaven or Hell Mode.
This is a pretty fun mode to play around in – enemies die in one hit, and so do you! Use your guns to waltz through all of the areas. Preferably, put turbo mode on if you want to speed up the process a bit.

Tonight, We Dine in Hell
Clear all missions in Hell and Hell Mode
This is Heaven & Hell with a twist – enemies now have Son of Sparda health, but you still die in one hit! Not to worry, though – since there is no separate achievement related to S ranking this mode, you can use Super characters to make this easier. Not to worry about death, either – you are automatically provided with 3 free Gold Orbs per level, and even if you run out you are left at the previous door with 3 more Gold orbs, so you can practically corpse drag your way through this mode if you really want to.

A Throne of Glory
Clear all game modes.
This will come naturally by going for all of the achievements – simply clear Human, Devil Hunter, Son of Sparda, Dante Must Die, Heaven & Hell, and Hell and Hell to unlock this achievement.

What Legends Are Made Of
Clear all missions in Legendary Dark Knight Mode.
Legendary Dark Knight mode is a new mode previously exclusive to the PC version, strictly due to what it entails – this mode is Son of Sparda level enemies, with about 5x more enemies or even more per area. To defeat this, I recommend you get really good at dodging. Don't worry about Style so much – the mere volume of enemies will guarantee your Style Points will be through the roof. If you begin to feel overwhelmed, activate Devil Trigger and use as many crowd control moves as you can (Nero's Red Queen Combo C and Dante's Rebellion Combo B).

Devil In A Blue Coat
Clear the game with Vergil.
Luckily any mode you unlock with one character or characters unlocks that mode for every other character(s), so if you took my recommendation and completed most of the game with Dante and Nero, you should have unlocked Heaven and Hell for Vergil, as well as all of his abilities. Simply walk through H&H and you have an easy achievement.

Deadly Pair
Clear the game with Lady and Trish.
Same thing as Vergil, you should have unlocked Heaven and Hell for the ladies, so just load it up with them and walk through the game easy as you please.
Missions S Ranking
Your mission rank is determined by Devil Hunter points, which are calculated by three quantitative categories: time, Style points, and red orbs collected. In order to get an S rank on a mission, you must get (generally) two A ranks and one S rank, or two S ranks and one B rank. Each mission has its own set of parameters for the three categories, and each parameter changes between difficulties. I'm not going to explain clear time, but you must get a certain amount of Style points to get an S rank. You gather Style points by hitting enemies with attacks, and stringing together different attacks. These points are multiplied by a certain factor depending on the rank you have during the combo (D-through SSS). The higher your rank, the bigger the multiplier. The multiplier is reset every time you're hit, so do not get hit! You advance ranks in Style by varying your attacks (for example, use a Streak [Nero] to start a combo, Snatch them back and hit them with Red Queen Combo A, but rise in the air with High Roller on the third hit of Combo A and hit them some more with Aerial Rave. If they don't die during this, Snatch them back and hit them with a Buster). After you exhaust all of your possible moves, you can repeat the beginning move to continue to build the Style meter, so abuse that feature.

The third parameter, red orbs collected, is ENTIRELY dependent on the breakable objects destroyed in the level. These can be anything from barrels to shelves to chairs to trash cans. It doesn't matter how many orbs you get, but the more breakable objects you destroy, the higher your rank will be. Destroy over 95% of these objects and you will get an S rank.

Smokin'!
Complete a Stylish Rank S (Smokin'!) combo.
The Style meter is a simple gauge – hit enemies with different attacks without getting hit yourself. As mentioned earlier, you can gain style by using every move in your arsenal and then repeating the cycle. This will be difficult on lower difficulties, since the only way to do so is kill multiple enemies without getting hit, and not running out of enemies.

Smokin' Style!!
Complete a Stylish Rank SS (Smokin' Style!!) combo.
To earn this, you must go one level above Smokin (S). This should be relatively simple if you can do an S rank. As with all of these, they will become easier as you gain access to more moves and can execute longer, more elaborate combos.

Smokin' Sick Style!!!
Complete a Stylish Rank SSS (Smokin' Sick Style!!!) combo.
Another super simple way to get this is the beginning of Mission 9 – you will be introduced to the Alto Angelo and his trio of Bianco Angelos – usually they will go straight to their most powerful group attack and charge an energy ball, indicated by them retreating far away, making a triangle in mid-air, and darkening the light around them. Charge up a Charge shot as Nero, or a Charge shot with the Shotgun as Dante, and wait until they fire it.

The Best of the Rest
Clear all missions in Human Mode with an S ranking.
Human mode is difficult to S rank not because enemies are hard to kill, but because they are too easy to kill – it is difficult to rack up enough Style points to get an S rank in the parameter. However, this also gives you more time to run through the level, and thus also break more things. Try to get an S rank in time and Red Orbs, and make the best of what you got with the Style points.

A Cut Above
Clear all missions in Devil Hunter Mode with an S ranking.
Enemies in this mode have just enough health to give a good amount of Style points, so if you've got some favorite combos to do, this should be no problem once you've got a good deal of demon hunting under your belt.

A Stunning Feat
Clear all missions in Son of Sparda Mode with an S ranking.
Here the enemies have even more health, so getting the style requirement should be a bit easier. However, the AI is also a bit smarter, so make sure you're good at reading telegraphed attacks, and utilizing the invincibility frames of your jump.

Never Say Die
Clear all missions in Dante Must Die Mode with an S ranking.
While this mode is as difficult as it is, S ranking it is actually relatively easier than S ranking Human mode due to the sheer amount of health enemies have. It may take longer, but as long as you're good at stringing together combos, it should pose no problem in most cases. However, the AI in this mode is incredibly vicious, and items will reduce your score, so take advantage of the series' “cheats” of sorts – if you don't want an enemy to attack you, keep it off camera. Doing so will make the AI try to move on-screen before attacking you. Hitting multiple enemies with one attack, like using Dante's Overdrive on a line of enemies, will kick up the Style meter immensely.

Only use attacks that are easily cancellable (you can tell a move is cancellable by being able to jump out of it at any point of the move – if you can't jump out, it leaves you open to enemies hitting you), or if you're going to, make sure you're far enough away to do it.

I Am Legendary
Clear all missions in Legendary Dark Knight Mode with an S Ranking.
This is just Son of Sparda with a hell of a lot more enemies. Therefore, the strategies for the two modes are relatively similar. The only difference is, the huge volume of enemies allows for gigantic amounts of Style Points. Use crowd control moves to build up Style quickly, and treat it as Son of Sparda, and you should be set to go.
Secret Missions
Nothing Left Unsaid
Clear all secret missions.
There are 12 Secret Missions hidden throughout the levels of DMC 4 – each one requires you to do a short objective, usually odd, with each subsequent mission getting progressively harder. Secret missions can be detected by Nero's Devil Bringer after obtaining the Rusalka corpse from Bael. They are indicated by a piece of paper with a red kanji on it. Grayed out kanji indicate the mission is already cleared.

Video Example
Boss/Enemy Related
NOTE: Since the description does not specify, you can also use Super costumes (which can help immensely) when going for this.

Down A Notch
Defeat Dante with an SSS ranking in Son of Sparda Mode or higher.
Of all the boss SSS achievements this will be the most difficult. The achievements require you to kill the boss (get their health to zero) while your Style meter is on SSS, so when the boss dies your meter must read Smokin Sick Style! These can be done with any character.

Video Example (with Lady)

Flame Out
Defeat Berial with an SSS ranking in Son of Sparda Mode or higher.
Berial is one of the easier bosses to SSS rank. Lady can be the easiest due to her easy methods of gaining Style – since Berial does not have many long range attacks, you can use her Charge Level 3 of the Kalina Ann from far away to gain a lot of Style and heavily damage him at the same time. You can then alternate between the Charge Shots of your different guns to raise the Style meter, taunt him a couple of times, and then finish him off.

Video Example (with Nero)

Leap Frog
Defeat Bael or Dagon with an SSS ranking in Son of Sparda Mode or higher.
As with all of the bosses, you can use any character and any costume to get this. Most of the tactics you'll need to do this will come with playing the game, as a lot of it has to do with memorizing the frog thing's attacks and not getting hit. Quick note – your most versatile invincibility frames come from the beginning of any jump and the second it takes to activate Nero's Devil Trigger. Use those in a pinch if you're about to get hit. A good way to get easy Style is any highly damaging single attack such as Lady's Charged Kalina Ann, Nero's Charge Shot 3, Nero's Buster, and Dante's Distorted Real Impact, so in the interest of speed rely on the Charge Shots and Buster. Coupled with those and not getting hit, you should have no problem getting this as long as you know the enemy moves by heart.

Video Example (with Nero)

Bad Seed
Defeat Echidna with an SSS ranking in Son of Sparda Mode or higher.
Same deal with the previous bosses, kill her in SoS with an SSS rank going. Oddly enough, you can earn this in Bloody Palace as the difficulty is automatically set to Son of Sparda.

Video Example (with Nero)

One Winged Devil
Defeat Angelo Credo with an SSS ranking in Son of Sparda Mode or higher.
The absolute most important key here to keep your meter going is to not get hit – no matter what character you use, you must know his moveset like the back of your hand. Personally I would recommend using Nero since the boss was practically built for the character. Don't worry about trying to get fancy combos on him if you use Nero – only focus on hitting him when he isn't blocking, buster his shield when he blocks with it, and put a Charge Shot Lvl 3 in him every chance you get.

The real Style boosts come from when you buster him while he's weak. Another good Style booster is catching Credo's spear things with your buster and throwing them back at him. It will kick you up a grade, damage him considerably, and stun him long enough for one free hit. It's not necessary, of course, as getting hit will take you down two Style grades, but memorizing the timing will also help you in the Sanctus boss fight. If you're using a Super character like you're supposed to, your summoned swords should take care of his summoned spears, if you're worrying about getting hit by those.

Video Example (with Nero)

For Science!
Defeat Angelo Agnus with an SSS ranking in Son of Sparda Mode or higher.
Agnus is a comical boss to beat, and once you get used to his wacky moveset, is really no challenge on Son of Sparda. Again, I would recommend using Nero as the boss was built for him, and you can utilize the easy buster Style to great effect. A Super character and sufficient experience with the boss should prove enough for this achievement.

Video Example (with Nero)

False Prophet
Defeat The Savior with an SSS ranking in Son of Sparda Mode or higher.
Note: This achievement is not possible on Mission 11, and as such has to be done on Mission 20.
The achievement description is misleading. You need to defeat Sanctus Diabolica and not The Savior, in order to obtain this achievement.

Video Example (with Nero)

Rookie Devil Hunter
Defeat 100 enemies.
This will come within the first hour or so of gameplay. Simply destroy any demons in your path.

Skilled Devil Hunter
Defeat 1,000 enemies.
Going a little higher now, we have to defeat more demons! If you're aiming to get all achievements, this should come around your second or third playthrough of the campaign.

Legendary Devil Hunter
Defeat 10,000 enemies.
This is easily one of the most tedious achievements in the game – even after completing all of the game modes and S ranking them. However, even if you're superb at the game, it should take no more than a few runs of the Palace after finishing the game to get this. If not, you can always boost up your kill count by loading up Mission 10 on Heaven and Hell and going to the door with the pressure mechanism – if you kill the Scarecrow without going through the gate, the Scarecrow will infinitely spawn. Watch a movie, write a book, whatever you wish while you grind the kills.

Wrath Of The Raging Demon Hunter
Defeat 10 enemies within 1 second.
This is really easy to obtain, despite the description. While going through the Heaven and Hell modes you will often kill the enemies so quickly you trick the game into unlocking this for you. However, if you want a surefire way to get this, load up one of the earlier levels of Legendary Dark Knight mode and utilize Vergil's Judgment Cut End to destroy just about all of the enemies on-screen instantaneously.
Bloody Palace
Bring It On!
Clear all Bloody Palace stages with Nero.
Nero should be the first character you finish the Palace with, since he is the easiest to use. Doing so without using a Super costume and with Turbo on should unlock this, the S rank one, and the Turbo one all in one.

I Live For This
Clear all Bloody Palace stages with Dante.
If you followed the guide for the previous achievement, all of the (relatively) hard stuff should be out of the way, and all you have to do is beat it with Dante. If you've went through the main game with the Nero/Dante duo, you should also have a good grasp on his abilities. Still, if you want to make this a cakewalk, obtain Dante's Super costume by either buying it for $5 off the marketplace or beating DMD. Now, when selecting the mode, switch to the Super version. Now for every battle, switch to Gunslinger Style and Pandora, jump in the air and press 'B'. This will activate Pandora's ultimate form, PF594: Argument. Now, mash 'B' to destroy everything in sight. Rinse and repeat until you finish.

Might Makes Right
Clear all Bloody Palace stages with Vergil.
Unless you've done a lot of the main game with Vergil and are really comfortable with his moves, you are not going to be able to finish the Palace easily with little experience, even if you've put in a ton of hours with the other characters. I recommend getting his Super costume as well and abusing Vergil's Judgment Cut End. You will have to buy this move with the appropriate Proud Souls, but ideally you shouldn't be doing any Palace-related stuff without all of the upgrades.

Bazooka Babe
Clear all Bloody Palace stages with Lady.
Lady and Trish do not possess Super costumes, so there is no reason to do a Lady/Trish Must Die run with them. Luckily, Lady's run is extremely easy – just switch to the shotgun, charge it to level 3, blast it in every demon's face that you can, and rinse/repeat. If you think you have enough time, Kalina Ann's Charge Shot level 3 can do quite a bit of damage, even against bosses. Don't use it against quick enemies though, as it takes nearly 10 seconds to fully charge. For the final boss battle with Dante, just use your Pistol Charge Shot level 3 to eat away at his health from a distance. He likes to dodge, though, so time the release of your shots to when he can't dodge, like when he's just landing from a jump, or in the middle of executing an attack.

Filled With Light
Clear all Bloody Palace stages with Trish.
Trish's Palace run is easily the most difficult because she lacks a Super costume, and her only powerful move is Pandora's laser cannon. You will want to, therefore, make use of her specialty in damage over time attacks. Abuse the living hell out of her Round Trip and subsequent Spinning Kick move.

For bosses, you will want to be extremely careful and try to dodge as much as you can while whittling down their health. If you've got Devil Trigger to spare, use Pandora's laser cannon form to eat a chunk of it away. Trish's main enemy, however, is floor 85, where you will fight two Blitzes at once – you must be extremely quick, as the most reliable way to take care of these guys is to activate the laser as soon as the stage loads to remove one of the Blitz's shield, and then activate it again to kill it. With luck, you should at least take the shield down on one of them and kill it before the other can take a swing at you – if not, best of luck for getting another opportunity to do so.

House Of Pain
Clear all Bloody Palace stages with all characters.
This will come naturally as you work on each individual characters' Bloody Palace runs, which have tips on the best way to finish them on the named achievements.

Ruthless Efficiency
Clear the Bloody Palace within 2 hours.
This can easily be gained activating Turbo mode while doing Dante or Vergil's Super run

King of the Palace
Clear all Bloody Palace Mode stages with an S ranking.
Completing the Palace with an S ranking simply meanings defeating all 101 Stages without using Super characters. I recommend making sure you have every single ability unlocked and every upgrade before attempting to do this; even then, it will take practice to defeat some of the later Stages.

Furiously Fast
Clear the Bloody Palace in Turbo Mode.
This can be easily obtained on either Dante or Vergil's Super runs.

Untouchable
Defeat Dante in the Bloody Palace without taking any damage.
This is actually one of the easiest achievements in the game. All you have to do is use Dante's Super costume and Pandora, again. This time, however, when you begin the fight, run as far away as you can and switch to Gunslinger. Lock onto Dark Dante and hold 'RB' + 'LS' ↓ + 'B' at the same time to activate PF422: Grief. With the Super costume, this form will last indefinitely for as long as you hold the listed buttons and will not allow Dark Dante to retaliate at all.
Conclusion

Great guide! It’s been very useful so far.

Would you mind adding some extra detail for the Lady Bloody Palace run? It doesn’t seem to be as simple as charged shotgun the whole way as she’s quite vulnerable while doing this.

I keep hearing her run is supposed to be easy and Trish’s is supposed to be hard, but I cleared Trish’s run and can’t clear Lady’s run to save my life :steamsad:

I've tried this Grief on Dark Dante in BP, but he started Royal Guarding immediately. Rockets from jump + B on Pandora are safer

If defeating 100 enemies takes roughly a hour of game play, it would be roughly 100 hours to get the 10,000 achievement? Should be easy enough because I still have to deal with a few of the gamemodes, bloody palace and the S ranks
Nayriek Apr 15, 2023 @ 4:22pm
The ones for SSS Echidna and Agnus were pretty easy for me
Step 1:Play LDK as Lady
Step 2:Rocket go boom
Step 3:S(SS) rank

Something to note about the secret mission achievment that I found out, is that on your final secret mission, so the one that will pop the achievment, you have to do the ENTIRE MISSION, to ge the achievment. So say, you did your final secret mission and you quit, you still get you blue orb but you don't get the achievment. To "fix" that you can go to any other mission with a secret mission, do the secret mission and then fully complete the mission itself, THEN you'll get the achievment.

At least that's what happened to me, so I hope it helps anyone who wonders why the achievment didn't register even though they did every one of them.

Down a notch - use 1 level with Lady and spam grabling hook and charging shots on pistols , more easier than on 10 level
