The basics

This will introduce you to PAYDAY: THE HEIST, and give you an idea of what to do, and what its all about.

Introduction

Hi, and welcome to PAYDAY: THE HEIST.

As you may already know, this is a game about robbing banks, and doing bigger heists.
This tutorial will tell you the things you will need to know to play the game from a clear basis.

This toturial will cover most about following topics:

Controls

Controls in this game are very similar to other FPS games.


Movement

• W - Move forward
  
• S - Move backwards
  
• A - Move left
  
• D - Move right
  
• Space - Jump

Weapon handling and interracting

• LMB - Fire weapon
  
• RMB - Aim
  
• E - Meele, use your gun to hit troops, good for saving ammo and ensuring police hostages
  
• R - Reload
  
• Scroll - weapon change
  
• G - place supply bags, mines or sentries
  
• F - interracting, shouting(intimidating) and spotting special troops
  
• 1 - weapon slot 1
  
• 2 - weapon slot 2
  
• 3 - weapon slot 3

Shield and health

You have a certain ammount of shield, that regenerates if you get in cover, but when the shield is empty, the damage drains the health directly. Health can only refill by the use of a medic bag, or by gaining a level in any tree.
When shield and health goes to 0, you will be downed, and able to shoot arround, unless you are fired upon while downed, or taken down by a cloaker/ cuffed by a cop.
You can be helped up twice, but when downed 3 times, you will go directly to custody.
if you time out while downed the first two times, you will go to custody.
when in custody you can only be revived by a hostage trade (or respawn in the easyer difficulties)

Preparing a heist

Before you begin robbing, there are some things to prepare.
Firstly, you will have to choose it you want to play online, or alone.
When you have invited your friends, entered a random lobby, or started a singleplayer game, you will be able to choose your character and mask. There are as default 4 characters, and a few masks to choose from ( you can gain masks by completing challenges ). If you are the host, you will also be able to choose difficulty, map, reputation cap, and more.

When everyone have choosen their character and mask, the host can continue into the loadout screen, where everyone have to choose what they will bring to the heist. As you gain levels, you get more stuff to choose from.

When everyone have choosen their loadout, and pressed the [] READY button, the heist will start.

Reputation

PAYDAY: THE HEIST follows a simple leveling system.

As you heist, you gain money, and money is used as xp/reputation.
Completing challenges/achievements, will also give you some reputation.

At the end of every heist, there is a PAYDAY, wich is a load of cash, that gets bigger, the better you perform durring the heist. (avoid killing civilians, as this reduces your payout very much)


As default, you can gain 145 levels, spread over 3 classes, If you own the Wolfpack DLC though, you can gain 193 levels spread over 4 classes.

Characters

There are 4 Characters to play, I will tell you shortly about every one of them (and some of your partners in crime)

prefered mask pattern: A clown with big pink folds over his eyes, and a flat nose.
Suit: Black with blue stripes,and a white shirt
Before payday: Fighting in unlicenced boxing matches, and doing hooligan stuff

• CHAINS

Before payday: He was in the US. Navy, but got kicked out fairly fast.

hair collour: He's bald, but he has a brown beard

Bain is the one making the plans, and guiding the team through them.
You will hear him warning you about incomming assults, snipers and special units.
He also tells information about players who are down or in custody.

A team member, who betrays his team members (you and your team) in heat street.

Chase driver (supposed to pick you up and chase Matt in heat street, but crashes)

Special Units

PAYDAT also features special police units, this will let you know what to do when encountereing one.

First thing to do, you need to do with all special troops (exept snipers). Point them out by pressing F, so you don't have to kill them alone.


Taser

Tasers are wearing yellow armbands on both upper arms
Tasers carry a taser, with a range of arround 20m.
When e teammember gets tased, he/she should try to mark the taser, and try to hit him with his uncontrolled fire.
Others should assist him, by shooting at the taser (most effective in legs and torso)
The easyest way to take him out are shots to the legs torso and head.


Cloaker

Cloakers are wearing night vision goggles, and can down a team member by hitting him once.
Be careful, they run fast. Kill them before they get too close, they can be fatal if undetected.
The easyest way to take them out are shots to the head or torso.




Shield

Shields are obviously carrying a big bulletproof shield, which cant be shot through in any way, and a full auto BS-9 Pistol.
The easyest way to take him out, are to have one distracting him, while anoter runs arround, and shoots him from behind.


Snipers

Snipers are carrying a AMCAR rifle, and they will mostly miss theyr first shot, but will then take down your shild, and down you in 1-2 more shots. He will mostly be on rooftops, and will never change posistion.
The easyest way to take them out are to use your most accurate gun, and aim your shots.


Bulldozers

Bulldozers are carrying EOD vests, and can take many hits.
He is wielding a reinbeck shotgun, and can down you fast if he's close.
He will sometimes also be able to down you by a single melee hit.
The easyest way to take them out are controled fire through their helmets.

Good-to-know

Cameras

The more cameras you and your team destroys, the less intel the police will have one you.
This means for an example weaker assults.
(If you are told that the team wants to do overdrill, don't shoot any cameras when you passed the first drill in first world bank)

Instant cash

Instant cash is money bundles, jewlery etc. laying arround, for you to take. This will give you a small money boost

how do you change which skill tree you are leveling up, i have seen it a few times, but I haven;t found a solid way to change it on the go

Not really, they basically just follow you :)

Noob question here, if you play single player do you have any control over your bots at all?

It does not take you into custody when you get downed 3 times. PAYDAY 2 takes you into custody if you get downed 3 times without using a medic bag.

THE HEIST allows people to get downed infinetely, but the down timer decreases as they get downed more. The harder the difficulty, the harsher the penalties.

Well, It doesn't make me a cheater.. With about 200 hrs of gameplay, you will stumble upon hackers, and the time it takes with them implemetns on your stats. don't judge, if you aren't 100% sure.

If you have a time of 7m6s on first world bank ovk 145+ then everyone knows you are a cheater.
