How to get the secret mission achievements

If you miss any secret mission boss fight you can still get them later in the game. To redo a boss fight, talk to the cow kid located in the upper right section of Nam Cobanda Island. You have to pay 300 chips per boss fight. Warning though mission 17 is stil missable if you do not get the item required in the limited time frame.

I also decided to put this here. When you first arrive to a town called Mantic and decide to leave sleep in the inn til you get a scene that gives you the item called mothers momento It's Required for a secret mission.

Do not worry! Secret mission 21 and 22 are before 20 because namco threw it in the PS3/Def version.


Secret Mission 1 (Zagi):
"Defeat Zagi while protecting Estellise from Zagi's attacks." Just minimize the damage estelle takes.

Secret Misison 2 (Goliath):
"Downed Goliath by attacking its Achilles' heel while it charges X buster." Use a multi hit arte or attack on his glowing heel from behind to down him

Secret Mission 3 (Gattuso):
"Use the Billybally plants to stun Gattuso." Attack the plants to stun Gattuso Make sure the bosses shield is down

Secret Mission 4 (Zagi 2):
"Lured Zagi to the side of the ship and knocked him overboard." You can wait at the edge of the boat and use Overlimit to knock him over

Secret Mission 5 (Dreaded Giant):
"Downed the Dreaded Giant when it reared back and left itself wide open." Wait for it to stand on its hind legs, at that moment run in and slash at them.

Secret Mission 6 (Gigalarva):
"Raven used Serpent to set a trap for the Gigalarva and prevented it from healing itself." Use once Gigalarva has less than 24,000 HP.

Secret Mission 7 (Barbos):
"You took out the bridge supports, thus keeping Barbos from calling out more of his thugs."

Secret Mission 8 (Cursed Wanderer):
"Downed the Wandering Skeleton while he is reloading his revolver" When he uses severed Fate A he generally has to reload his gun just guard it and then smack him around after the attack, Trigger Tune A also makes him reload, if you manage to get a strike after that.

Secret Mission 9 (Zagi 3):
"Let Zagi absorb too much energy, destroying his bodhi blastia." Simply stand back and don't attack, let him absorb aer till his blastia explodes. Have Rita use magic attacks to overload his blastia.

Secret Mission 10 (Pteropus):
"You defeated the Leader Bat and prevented Pteropus from recombining." - Kill the Leader bat before the adds.

Secret Mission 11 (Outbreaker):
"Destroyed the core and prevented magic from inverting day and night." Destroy the core, but you have to do it before you defeat Outbreaker.

Secret Mission 12 (Belius):
"You lit up all the candlesticks and eliminated the illusions of Belius." Use Yuri's Destruction Field arte to relight the four candles once the Belius double appears.

Secret Mission 13 (Nan & Tison):
"Timed your strikes between Nan and Tison's attacks to knock them down." Tison and Nan have a magic attack which causes their weapons and arms to get stuck in the ground. Wait for them to use this attack and hit them while they are stuck. Must down both.

Secret Mission 14 (Schwann):
"Downed Schwann by attacking when he was clutching his heart after his mystic arte." Guard against his mystic arte and run up and hit him while he's panting and such.

Secret Mission 15 (Zagi 4):
"Use Karol's Nice Recovery Smash arte to force Zagi to recover from poison."

Secret Mission 16 (Baitojoh):
"Hit Baitojoh 3 times during its Ice Edge attack and fighed it out of the water." Watch for Baitojoh's fin for the Ice Edge attack. When you see it, attack it. If you can hit it before Ice Edge is complete it gets hurled out of the water.

Secret Mission 17 (Estellise):
"Use the item, Mother's Momento, on Estellise." There is a sub event called "What's Important to Estellise" in Mantaic that is triggered at night(Essentially just sleep at the inn when you first arrive twice when you can). You have to return there before going to Myorzo to get the item. Also don't use the item until you are only fighting with Yuri.

Secret Mission 18 (Yeager):
"Make Yeager's heart explode by using Raven's Rain arte." When Yeager reveals the hermes blastia in his heart during the second half of the battle, guard break him, then have Raven use his Rain arte. Alternativly you can Just Overlimit with raven and spam rain til it works.

Secret Mission 19 (Alexei):
"Downed Alexei by attacking him when he was tired after his mystic arte."

Secret Mission 20 (Cursed Wanderer 2)
Used the item, Maris Stella. (The Item is gotten in Zaude, in the area with the giganto monster)

Secret Mission 21 (Gusios):
"Attacked Gusios's tail then downed him while he stood on his hind legs." Attack his tail. When it retracts, Gusios will stand on his hind legs and pound his chest. Use this opportunity to knock him down.

Secret Mission 22 (Khroma Dragon):
"Downed Khroma by timing your strikes between a certain group of her attacks." When Khroma uses her earthquake attack rush towards her while rocks fall from the cieling. Slash her after she slams the ground.

Secret Mission 23 (Flynn):
"Allow Flynn to use every arte he could, including his mystic arte." Stay back and don't attack, let Flynn use all of his arte's. Attack him once he uses his mystic arte, which will force him to use his healing artes. Flynn will also counter with his mystic arte if you use yours

Secret Mission 24 (Zagi 5):
"Downed Zagi by attacking him between his Blastia Bane." Guard against Blastia Bane, then knock him down as he recovers.

Secret Mission 25 (Duke):
"Defeated Duke using a mystic arte." 2nd Battle Only

Some extra pointers for completing these missions:
- Zagi 2: depending on artes/characters used, certain attacks may knock Zagi upwards; this could be more consistent for being able to knock him off the ship instead of using Overlimit (I used Fang Strike which seemed to work)
- Outbreaker: damaging the core requires you to actually hit it; you should use artes with aerial/upward strikes, like Severing Fang, Dragon Upper, or a "focused" spell like Fireball; if done right, you'll see cracks in the core
- Belius: can use any fire attack (such as Crimson Helix or Lightning Wave) on candles; however, some of Belius attacks can also extinguish the candles, though she rarely actually targets them
- Dreaded Giant/Gusios: they are the same "character", albeit with differing fights; however, the method to doing the secret mission is pretty much the same; if you found a consistent method for Dreaded Giant, it will probably work for Gusios too (just watch out for the magic attacks he uses)

Cool guide. I got the first Secret Mission on accident, and decided to go for it since I just started the game.

For Secret Mission 23 wait for Flynn to use all of the following Artes:

To make the fight easier you can equip the accessory Ultimate Red Cape. This will make you absorb the damage from all of the Light elemental spells and reduce the damage of Flynn's Mystic Arte significantly.

Guardian Field and First Aid are used only when Flynn's HP is low.

Flynn will use his MA when you first attempt to use your Mystic Arte. Best way to do this is to go in to OL3+ and then do Yuri's MA. You'll see Flynn go in to OL and do his MA. If you are not using Ultimate red Cape then you have to make sure your HP is around 5000 else you will die. Flynn can also use his MA in the middle of the fight (a lot of guides claim Flynn uses his MA once which if false).

It worked for me, put my team on defend/run away and I also ran away and it worked fine for me.
