DOOM II: Hell on Earth DOS Version Upgrade

This upgrade supports higher display resolution, removes the static limits of the engine and offers further optional visual, tactical and physical enhancements for the DOS version of the game.

Installation

1. Install the game
   
2. Download Crispy Doom[github.com]
   
3. Unpack Crispy Doom to directory:
   Disk:\Steam directory\steamapps\common\Doom 2 (or to another directory where the game is located)

Game Launch

To merge Crispy Doom with Steam you need to: select a game in the Steam Library → right-click → select "Properties" → in the appeared window type the launch option:

In order for the game to display and sound correctly, you need to set the following parameter values in the "crispy-doom.cfg" file:

aspect_ratio_correct          2
use_libsamplerate             0

To play music in the game in the best quality, you need to: run the configuration file "crispy-doom-setup.exe" → select the "Configure Sound" item → in the appeared window in the "Music" section, select the "Native MIDI" item.

Core features

• Enhanced 640x400 display resolution, with the original 320x200 resolution still available in the "High Resolution Rendering: Off" mode.
  
• Widescreen rendering for using all the available horizontal space of screens with aspect ratios up to 24:9.
  
• Uncapped rendering framerate with interpolation and optional vertical synchronization (VSync) with the screen refresh rate.
  
• Intermediate gamma correction levels (0.5, 1.5, 2.5 and 3.5).
  
• Removal of all static engine limits, or at least raising of the less crucial ones.

You can also turn on a lot of gameplay (jumping and freelook, for example) and visual innovations, for this in the game you need to go to: Options → Crispness

Multiplayer

To play on a local network or the Internet, you need to run the file "crispy-doom-setup.exe" and select Join a Network Game item, then enter the required IP address, or find a server from the list by selecting the appropriate item. To create a server, you need to select Start a Network Game. If you need to add additional .wad files, then you should select the Add WADs item and enter the names of all the necessary .wad files with the path (if the file is placed in a separate folder) and extensions in each of the lines separately.

Custom Content

To run the exclusive episode "No Rest for the Living", which is included in Doom 3: BFG Edition, you need to copy the file "NERVE.WAD" to the directory below. Additional map One Humanity from John Romero. Unofficial sequels TNT: Revilution[www.doomworld.com] and Plutonia 2[www.doomworld.com]. All sorts of custom content is available on the Doomworld[www.doomworld.com] website. Modifications and maps can be downloaded in a special section[www.doomworld.com].

Installation process

1. Move a third-party .wad file to directory:
   Disk:\Steam directory\steamapps\common\Doom 2 (or to another directory where the game is located)
   Also .wad files can be placed in a separate folder.
   
2. Select a game in the Steam Library → right-click → select "Properties" → in the appeared window type the desired launch option from the list below:

   For the Final DOOM, instead of the "-iwad base\DOOM2.WAD" parameter, you need to type:

   If Crispy Doom was not merged with Steam, then the launch option must be typed in the shortcut properties for the "crispy-doom.exe" file in the "Object" field separated by a space or in a .bat file using a text editor:
   crispy-doom.exe -iwad DOOM2\TNT\PLUTONIA.WAD desired_launch_option
