Installation
  1. Install the game
  2. Download Woof! source port[github.com]
  3. Extract the source port files to the directory:
Disk:\Steam directory\steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom\dosbox (or to another directory where the game is located)
Game Launch
To merge the source port with Steam, you need to rename the file "woof.exe" to "Launcher.exe" with replacement of the original file.

To run the game via Steam you need: select the game in the Steam Library → right-click → select "Properties" → in the appeared window type the launch option:

-iwad ..\base\doom2\DOOM2.WAD
-iwad ..\base\tnt\TNT.WAD
-iwad ..\base\plutonia\PLUTONIA.WAD

For the Master Levels, you need to type the launch option of the selected .wad file with the level number, if required, and the difficulty (I'm Too Young To Die - Nightmare!) from the list below:

Level Name
Level Launch Option
Attack
-iwad ..\base\doom2\DOOM2.WAD -file ..\base\master\wads\ATTACK.WAD

If the source port has not been merged with Steam, then the launch option should be typed in the shortcut properties for the file "woof.exe" in the "Object" field with a space.

To make the game image proportional with widescreen aspect ratio you need to write the following parameter value in the file "woof.cfg" or "Launcher.cfg" (appears after the first start):
[0-1(1)] Aspect ratio correction correct_aspect_ratio 0

Key Features
  • Arbitrary resolutions up to native display resolution with dynamic resolution scaling (DRS) to automatically change the internal resolution to maintain a target framerate.
  • Widescreen rendering with proper support for widescreen assets.
  • Rendering with uncapped frame rate and frame interpolation.
  • Adjustable field of view (FOV).
  • Support for voxels in KVX format.
  • 3D audio, supporting stereo and up to 7.1 surround sound with an optional HRTF mode, as well as PC speaker emulation.

  • Digital music and sound formats supported by libsndfile, module music supported by libxmp.
  • Modern gamepad support featuring rumble, gyro, flick stick, custom weapon slots, and full control of sensitivities, response curves, and deadzones.
  • Mouselook.
  • Autoload directories.
  • Savegame backward compatibility up to MBF.EXE.
  • Integration of the Chocolate Doom network code.
  • Compatibility levels: "Vanilla", "Boom", "MBF" and "MBF21" (default).
Multiplayer
To play on the Internet with a server list or over a local network, run the file "woof-setup.exe". If you need to add additional .wad files, select Add WADs and type the names of all the necessary .wad files with the path (if the file is placed in a separate folder) and extension in each of the lines separately.
Custom Content
Alternate versions of maps E1M8b, E1M4b, the additional map One Humanity, the fifth episode SIGIL[romero.com] and the sixth episode SIGIL II[romero.com] by John Romero for the DOS version. Unofficial sequels TNT: Revilution[www.doomworld.com] and Plutonia 2[www.doomworld.com]. Miscellaneous user-generated content is available on the Doomworld[www.doomworld.com] website. Mods and maps can be downloaded in a special section[www.doomworld.com].

Installation process
  1. Move the third-party .wad file to the directory:
Disk:\Steam directory\steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom\Desired Directory (or to another directory where the game is located)
You can also put .wad files in a separate folder.
  2. Select the game in the Steam Library → right-click → select "Properties" → in the appeared window type the desired launch option from the list below:
    -iwad ..\base\DOOM(2).WAD -file name.wad
To run a third-party .wad file from the Woof! root folder

    -iwad ..\base\DOOM(2).WAD -file 1.wad 2.wad 3.wad
To run multiple third-party .wad files from the Woof! root folder

    -iwad ..\base\DOOM(2).WAD -file folder\name.wad
To run a third-party .wad file from a separate folder

    -iwad ..\base\DOOM(2).WAD -file 1.wad folder\2.wad folder\subfolder\3.wad
To run multiple third-party .wad files from different folders

If spaces are present, the file name and path must be enclosed in quotes:
    -iwad ..\base\DOOM(2).WAD -file first.wad "folder\second one.wad" "folder\another folder\third.wad"
To move to the parent folder, you must put two dots at the beginning of the directory:
    -iwad ..\base\DOOM(2).WAD -file ..\first.wad "..\folder\second one.wad"

Some maps and modifications require Final DOOM episodes to run:
    -iwad ..\base\tnt\TNT.WAD -file first.wad ..\folder\second one.wad
Running third-party .wad files for TNT: Evilution episode

    -iwad ..\base\plutonia\PLUTONIA.WAD -file ..\first.wad "..\folder\second one.wad"
Running third-party .wad files for The Plutonia Experiment episode

I prefer my own Soundblaster pk3 I created for Ultimate Doom. It sounds far better than the opl emulation of the ports & Dosbox, and is how I originally heard the game back in the 90s. I could upload it somewhere if anyone wants?

Thank you. Everything works fine now

Just download Chocolate Doom [github.com] and replace the "SDL2.dll" and "SDL2_mixer.dll" files with the same ones from the Chocolate Doom archive. This happens because of new SDL versions.

Definitely did something wrong. The game looks good when I boot it up but the sound effects are what sounds like 2x speed? I have no idea why. The game itself is running at normal speed, I think

Thank You Bro

You merged it with Steam? In this case, the used config files are duplicated in the folder where the launch .bat files are located. You can find it in this directory:
Disk:\Steam directory\steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom

Did that several times. The game starts in fullscreen anyway and the parameter resets back to 1.

You need to open the "crispy-doom.cfg" file and set the value 0 to the "fullscreen" parameter.

I've followed everything related to Crispy Doom but the game forces itself into fullscreen when I want it in windowed. Any help?
