Playing with Gadgets - Achievement Guide

An illustrated guide that will guide you through all the shards from the Tech category.

Tech Shards

To get all the Starite Shards from the Tech category you will need to fulfill the following tasks. You can access the challenge list by going to the Menu, then clicking on Shards, and choosing the Tech category. Doing all these challenges will award you the "Playing with Gadgets" achievement.

• Wash, Rinse, Dry!
  - Put a dirty dish in the dishwasher
  
  
  
  
• It's a Trap!
  - Put a rat or mouse (animal) near a mousetrap.
  
  
  
  
• The Clicker!
  - Use a remote on a TV.
  
  
  
  
• There's a Smokey on Your Tail!
  - Create an eighteen wheeler and a trucker, and use a CB radio
  
  
  
  
• Say What?
  - Create a deaf man (or woman) and give them a hearing aid.
  
  
  
  
• Rise and Shine!
  - Create a sleepy person and use an alarm clock near them.
  
  
  
  
• Drop Me a Line!
  - Use a phone.
  
  
  
  
• Fire!
  - Create a fire near a fire alarm.
  
  
  
  
• Clipped!
  - Use a nail clipper on someone.
  
  
  
  
• One Armed Bandit!
  - Interact with a slot machine.
  
  
  
  
• Not the Sharpest Pencil in the Drawer!
  - Use a pencil sharpener on a pencil.
  
  
  
  
• Firey Furnace!
  - Put clay in a kiln and empty the kiln.
  
  
  
  
• Say Yes To Rugs!
  - Interact with a loom.
  
  
  
  
• Vend for Yourself!
  - Use a coin on a vending machine.
  
  
  
  
• Duces Are Wild Wild Wild!
  - Give a bookie a laptop.
  
  
  
  
• No Safe is Safe!
  - Give a safecracker a safe.
  
  
  
  
• Oh No My Particles Collided!
  - Interact with a hadron collider.
  
  
  
  
• Double the Trouble!
  - Interact with a cloning machine.
  
  
  
  
• Money Laundering!
  - Put a dollar in a washer (appliance).
  
  
  
  
• Where There's Smoke...
  - Put fire near a smoke detector.
  
  
  
  
• Click Click Click Ding!
  - Interact with a typewriter.
  
  
  
  
• Bumper Bonus!
  - Interact with a pinball machine.
  
  
  
  
• Gently Down the Stream!
  - Ride a rowing machine.
  
  
  
  
• It's a Light Bat!
  - Combine a lamp shade and a baseball bat.
  
  
  
  
• Are You Afraid of the Dark?
  - Create a streetlamp and turn it off.
  
  
  
  
• Game of the Year!
  - Type Scribblenauts.
  
  

As you can see many of the challenge names are reference to pop culture stuff (like "The Clicker", "Are You Afraid of the Dark", "Where There's Smoke...", "Gently Down the Stream!" and so on).

Also note that many of these solutions are not the only ones for the challenge. There are many ways to solve each challenge, so if you think of an alternative I encourage you to find it, that way it's more fun!

@ookandgluck We don't plan on making the other guides any time soon since there are several illustrated guides for each of the other shard categories. Maybe in the future.

Yes, for many of them there are many solutions, you can think of many ways to solve the riddle, or use other words to express a similar thing that with work the same way, for example, for "Money Laundering" it doesn't need to be a dollar, for "Duces Are Wild Wild Wild!" it doesn't have to be a bookie, and so forth.

thanks! since english isn't my first language some of these were a great help! tho the ''safe cracker'' one didn't work for me but it did work once i spawned a ''burglar'' and a safe. just putting that out there if someone has the same problem.
