This mod adds a new custom race and pre-scripted empire inspired by the Irken Empire from the early 2000s cartoon 'Invader Zim'.

This mod includes the following features:
- 18 custom static portrait images (plus 4 unique ruler-exclusive static portraits), organized under a single portrait group in the Arthropoid species class.
- A new civic, Invader Culture (which dramatically reduces the influence cost and energy upkeep to conduct Infiltrate Government operations against pre-FTL civilizations), and a new origin, Urbanized Homeworld (which causes any empire with this origin to spawn on an Ecumenopolis).
- The pre-scripted Irken Empire, utilizing all aforementioned features, which is set to enable normal spawning in some games.

This mod is not ironman/achievement compatible, as it changes the checksum (this cannot be fixed). It may or may not be savegame compatible, but certain features might be missing unless you start a new game from scratch. Only playable on multiplayer if both you and the other players have the same mod. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are experiencing any issues with the mod itself, or wish to inform me of any compatibility issues with other mods.

This mod may or may not be incompatible with other mods that also overwrite the following vanilla files:
- espionage_operation_types/pre_ftl_operations.txt (operation_infiltrate_government already exists)
If anyone would like to develop a third-party compatibility patch for any mods that this conflicts with, I highly encourage you to do so.

Planned additions for the future, from highest to lowest priority:
- Modify the existing code to allow for less overwriting of existing vanilla files.
- A potential event chain revolving around Operation Impending Doom and Operation Impending Doom 2, possibly giving the Irken Empire certain buffs in regards to invading/infiltrating primitives.
- Make the portraits animated.
- Add new city (and possibly ship) graphics.

A kind soul in my discord provided the tools and templates needed to fix the issue with the portraits. The mod is up to date now and the portraits will no longer show up as missing.

shame... oh well. thanks anyways for having made this mod in the first place. I can understand your frustrations. good luck with any future modding endeavors you might be engaged in, Mr. TheBigE. once again, thank you for having graced this platform with this work of art in the first place.

Due to the apparent need for Paradox to implement highly arbitrary and needlessly complex changes to their codebase with seemingly no justifiable reason whatsoever, I've lost all motivation to update my mods according to the 'recent' changes that have been put out regarding how portrait classes work. If anyone wants to fix the portraits themselves and send me the updated files for me to inject into the workshop, I will gladly do so, but I just can't be bothered to deal with the increasing spaghettification of Paradox's code at the moment. Maybe in a month or so my mood will change, but don't bet on it.

the species portraits are broken again. are you planning on fixing it? if not then I understand, but i do hope so, because i really wanted to make an Irken Empire.

Only issue since the 3.12 update launched is the irken species doesn't show up but other than that it works fine.

In order to address a certain bug regarding portrait groups not showing up with the custom species class this mod was previously using, I have migrated the Irken portrait group into the Arthropoid species class using the new 3.8 species class code elements. This may break your saves, so use caution when updating.
