Free Ride Extreme glitch FIX
By luizgabrielhehe
There's a glitch in the game that makes it virtually impossible to complete a couple of Free Ride Extreme missions (the exploding Celeste and the bombing Zeppelin ones). This guide will teach you an easy way to fix it.

Download and install Mafia Widescreen Fix
You can download the Mafia Widescreen Fix on this site (all credits to the creator behar):

https://thirteenag.github.io/wfp#mafia

It's less than 2MB. Download it, extract it and paste the files in the game directory (where Game.exe is).
Edit the .ini file to limit the frame rate
In the "scripts" folder you should find the file "Mafia.WidescreenFix.ini"
Open the file and go to end of the line. Where it says
"Limit = 0Ru"
change it to
"Limit = 15Ru"

This will limit the frame rate to 15 FPS.
Why should you do it?
The amount of explosions in these missions is related to the frame rate. If you play at 60fps there will be so many explosions that the missions will become impossible.

To beat the Zeppelin one I even had to limit the frame rate to 10fps (and drive with half the car on top of the left sidewalk of the bridge).
Where are these missions?
The Zeppelin one starts in front of the hospital near the bridge to China Town.
The exploding Celeste is in Works Quarter, near the end of the nitroglycerin truck mission.

Well, I don't even remember having written this guide. But I do remeber those glitched missions and that I completed all free ride extreme missions. I'm no software engineer or anything close to that. I probably found the solution to this problem online and thought It would be nice if it was in the game's comunity forum inside Steam (I think I did for some Steam badge or something like that:tobdog:). But just like any other thing you do online, do it at your own risk. If you don't feel confident, just don't do it.:tobdog:

Only, it doesn't say "Limit = 0Ru", it says "FPS Limit = 0" and "Ru" is on the next line. That's probably not why this fix doesn't seem to work any longer, but this sort of discrepancy doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence. When you edit this sort of stuff, it would be nice to know that the people you're listening to know what they're doing.

Is there something one has to do in order for the Widescreen rules to be loaded into the game?

As per December 2020 this method is still working. Make sure to switch back to your normal settings, after completing these two glitched missions :)
