Orb Vallis Conservation for Floofs and Profit (Mainly Floofs)
De Psycholor
I AM NO LONGER UPDATING THIS GUIDE, I HIT MR30 AND HAVE MOVED ON TO OTHER GAMES. THIS VERSION OF THE GUIDE IS ACCURATE AS OF DEIMOS LAUNCH

Several people in various discord servers I am a member of are generally confused about conservation in the orb vallis, So I decided to make a basic guide I could link them too instead of constantly explaining things. If this guide helped you, please consider leaving a rating.

Loadouts
There are several Frames that complement hunting, I will be listing them here in order of most useful to least useful (This ranking is my opinion only!).

1. Ivara
Ivara is ready to go right out the gate, She comes with a Stealth ability making hiding from the animals easy, and also has a sleep ability in the form of her Sleep Arrow. To top it off, Sleep Arrow hits in an AOE. With default range, this AOE is wide enough to hit all three Pobbers at once.

2. Loki or Loki Prime (With Hushed Invisibility Augment Mod)
Loki comes with stealth, and by modding for duration you can be invisible for an absurd length of time. By using Hushsed invisibility, you will render your Tranquilizer completely silent, this enables you to take both shots at a Kubrodon without alerting it, as well as get all three pobbers. Mod for Duration and Hushed Invisibility. As of Profittaker hotfix 24.2.7.1, the Tranquilizer rifle is now inherently silent, rendering this mod pointless.

3. Equinox

Equinox's night form has a sleep ability.

4. Excalibur

Excalibur, while unable to turn invisible or directly put enemies to sleep, can make use of Radial Blind (or Radial Howl) to stun a target opening them up to an easy tranq. Build for range and Duration.

5. Banshee or Banshee Prime (Placed here for Posterity).

Banshee used to be useful for her ability to silence the Tranquilizer Rifle. As of update 24.2.7.1 the rifle is now inherently silent, rendering Banshee obsolete.

If you have any loadouts you use, leave a comment and I will play around with it before adding it to this list.
Getting Started
So, you want to help Biz save the endangered wildlife from The Corpus? No? You want floofs. Ok then, well atleast you're helping. Go Talk to Biz, he can get you started.

You will Need a Tranquilizer Rifle, and an Echo Lure. The Tranquilizer rifle is required for putting the target to sleep, and starting hunts. The Echo Lure is required for spawning the creature. There are seven Lures total, one for Pobbers, Virmink, Sawgaws, Horrasque, Bolarolas, Stovers, and Kubrodons. In Cetus, you can obtain lures for several other animals, as detailed in the section "Species of the Plains"

The Tranq Rifle and the Pobber Lure, available at Unranked.

Each species also has a Pheromone Synthesizer. This optional item increases the odds of getting a rare sub species to spawn. Use it just before you call the animal in. WARNING: There is NO animation for using Pheromone Synthesizers, and the ones used are not subtracted from your total until after the animal is called. I accidently used all 10 of the ones I had purchased for testing and had to get more.

The Pheremones for Pobbers, available at Unranked.

Once you purchase the lure and the tranq rifle, you're ready to go.
Tracking Your Target
Note: Plains hunting is identical to Vallis hunting, so the same steps can be followed. An extra to plains hunting, is that the animals can still spawn without using an echo lure, and these random spawns can also be tranquilized and captured.

Once you're outside, Go ahead and select that tranquilizer from your gear spiral.

Open the map and you will see a bunch of blue icons. These are hunt start points.

You can head to any of these, but if you want to get a specific animal, you can narrow your search a little. Select and equip the lure for the animal you want, then open the map again. You will see only start points for that animal. For the purposes of this guide, I'll be hunting a Vermink.

Go to one of the locations, and Somewhere nearby, there should be something on the ground

Interact with it, and a set of glowing animal tracks will appear. They can be difficult to spot on some terain types. I find jumping and Aim Gliding to get a birds-eye view to be helpful if I lose site of the tracks.
After following the tracks, you will come to the animal's nest. This is where the kill capture takes place.
Hunting Your Target.
Time to call it in, first, clear the area of any enemies, as they can spook or even kill your target. Then, stand by the nest, if you brought Pheromones you wish to use, do so now. Equip the lure. A bar will apear on your screen, use aim mode to make it easier to control, and try and line the blue dot up in the middle section of the bar so it turns purple. Press and hold your fire button, and wait for the lure to stop producing noise. A few seconds later, you will hear the animal call back to you. If you have directional audio you can turn to face the source of this sound as that is the direction the animal typically spawns in.

You will see that the bar now has a white box added too it. Line the dot up inside this box, and hold fire again. This time, while making the call, move the dot so it stays inside the box. Aim mode will help out a great deal here. If you do it right, the white box will disappear, and you will hear the animal call back you again. If you have directional audio, make any last minute adjustments and head in that direction.

If you are using Ivara or Loki like I suggested, you should activate Prowl/Cloak before moving. Keep in mind the direction of the snowfall, this indicates wind direction. Animals can still smell you even if you are invisible. The animal will not be spooked right away by smell alone, but if you don't move fast they will start running. If the animal sees you, or hears fighting it will immediately flee. If you are having trouble locating the animal, you can try using a synthesis scanner to highlight it through terrain obstructions. Additionally, Enemy Sense does makr them on the map with the normal red Blip. In this case, I got lucky and could see the animal spawn from the nest.

Shoot it with the tranquilizer, or if playing a warframe with a sleep inducing ability, you can use that, although this will lock your rating to a "Good" as of update 24.2. Once they are asleep, approach them and interact.

Biz will give you a comment or two about the animal, and grade your capture. Grades affect how much reputation you recieve, a "Good" capture gives normal rep and is the typical grade. A "Bad" capture gives reduced reputation and is pretty hard to achieve, you need to be detected by the animal to the point that it begins fleeing, as well as being very slow. A "Perfect" capture gives bonus reputation and is recieved by Capturing the animal quickly, not being spotted, smelled, or heard.
Species of the Vallis
1. Pobbers (Unranked)
These are the most basic creature of the Vallis, They spawn in groups of three all of which can be captured, but if one gets spooked, all of them will flee together.
  • Sunny Pobber, the common varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 400 (1200) rep.

  • Delicate Pobber, the uncommon varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 600 (1800) rep.

*the multi pobber shot was accomplished by capturing
two pobbers right on top of eachother and mashing interact.
  • Subterranean Pobber, the rare varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 800 (2400) rep.

2. Virmink (Rank 1: Outworlder)
The most common after Pobbers, Virmink are nothing special.
  • White-Breasted Virmink, the copmmon varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 600 rep.

  • Dusky-Headed Virmink, the uncommon varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 800 rep.

  • Red-Crested Virmink, the rare varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 1000 rep.

3. Sawgaw (Rank 1: Outworlder)
These creatures will hide up high, after calling them in check the tops of the Giant Mushroom things. They tend to move around as well, between several high perches. The frequint relocation means that while they spawn in the direction of their answering call, they quickly vacate the area. Additionally, while not immune to warframe abilities like a Kubrodon, getting up to the sleeping bird durting the abilities duration can prove tricky. Due to the unpredictable nature, a single hunt can be quite time consuming, making these unreliable for farming reputation.
  • Flossy Sawgaw, the most common varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 800 rep.
  • Alpine Moniter SawGaw, the uncommon varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 1200 rep.

  • Frogmouthed Sawgaw, the rarest varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 1800 rep.

4. Bolarolas (Rank 3: Doer)
The first special creature, Bolerolos have an armored back, which forces you to use your tranq rifle to hit their stomach. Warframe Sleep abilities bypass this, but cap your rating to "Good" making Bolerolos not Ideal for farming rep, the exception being Ivara's sleep arrow. A Direct hit will still allow for a Perfect Rating.
  • Spotted Bolarola, the common varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 1000 rep.

  • Black-Banded Bolarola, the uncommon varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 1500 rep.

  • Thorny Bolarola, the rare varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 2500 rep.

5. Horrasque (Rank 4: Cove)
These creatures are subterranean tunnlers, if it detects you it will not run for a period before vanishing, it will instantly burrow and vanish, addtionally, their fecal matter is toxic and contacting it deals a large quantity of Toxic damage. The fecal matter can be found along the trail towards the nest. During the Tranq phase, it will burrow around the area periodically poking out its head. It takes two tranq shots to make it fully emerge from the tunnel and go to sleep. Due to the difficulty of tracking one, having to avoid toxic feces, Horrasques are not very good for farming rep.
  • Dapppled Horrasque, the common varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 1200 rep.

  • Swimmer Horrasque, the uncommon varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 2400 rep.

  • Horrasque Stormer, the rare varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 3600 rep.

6. Stover (Rank 4: Cove)
Stovers are only found in and around caves and are highly aggressive, when they spot you, instead of fleeing, they will relentlessly hunt you down, dealing very little direct damage, but stacking Slash status effects. Stover's require three tranqs to bring down, and after being hit by the second tranq will imediately enter flee mode. If you are limited to a Tranq rifle, Stovers will prove a poor source of reputation, If you can use Ivara's tranq arrows accurately, then they are excellent.
  • Sentinal Stover, the common varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 1600 rep.

  • Fuming Dax Stover, the uncommon varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 2700 rep.

  • Fuming-Dax Stover, the rare varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 3800 rep.

7. Kubrodon [Rank 5: Old Mate]
Kubrodon are the Apex predator of the Vallis, they have the keenest sense of smell of all of the species, and require two tranquilizers to put down. Additionally, they have high resistance to warframe abilities. It is worth the extra trouble though, due to the high amount of rep gained for each capture.
  • Brindle Kubrodon, the commmon varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 2000 rep.

  • Vallis Kubrodon, the uncommon varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 4000 rep.

  • Kubrodon Incarnadine, the rare varient, a Perfect Capture is worth 8000 rep.
Species of the Plains
Note: Plains species can still be found free-roaming the Plains, and do not require a lure, although Mergoos are exceptionally rare.

Kuaka, small rodents similar to Pobbers. These spawn in groups of three and require only one dart each making them fast and efficient Rep.
  • Plains Kuaka, the common variant. A Perfect Capture is worth 400(1200) rep.

  • Ashen Kuaka, the uncommon variant. A Perfect Capture is worth 600(1800) rep.

  • Ghost Kuaka, the rare variant. A Perfect Capture is worth 1200(3600) rep.

Condorocs are avian similar to Sawgaws, but less annoying do to the absence of mushrooms on the plains. They will spawn flying and hover over the call point when spawned via minigame.
  • Common Condoroc, the common variant. A Perfect Capture is worth 800 rep.

  • Rogue Condoroc, the uncommon variant. A Perfect Capture is worth 1200 rep.

  • Emperor Condoroc, the uncommon variant. A Perfect Capture is worth 1800 rep.
Mergoo, these tiny, strange looking "birds" are likewise similar to Sawgaws, but worth more reputation than Condorocs.
  • Coastal Mergoo, the common variant. A Perfect Capture is worth 1200 rep.

  • Woodland Mergoo, the uncommon variant. A Perfect Capture is worth 2400 rep.

  • Splendid Mergoo, the rare variant. A Perfect Capture is worth 3600 rep.
Species of Deimos
Deimos hunting is a bit different, rather than awarding rep based on the take down level, you instead must cash in tags for Son Tokens, which can be converted into Grandmother tokens, or exchanged directly for Rep. Due to this... irritating change... I will simply list the different species that Deimos has to offer.

1. Velocipods, The first species you are likely to come across, Velocipods can be found out roaming the Deimos open world. They take a single tranq shot to knock out, and award 1 Velocipod Tag of the color you took down. Additionally, these may be ridden in a manner similar to K-Drives.

  • Purple Velocipod

  • Green Velocipod

  • White Velocipod

2. Cryptilex, The only Echo-Lure available at Entrati rank 0. These are about the size of Pobbers, and take one tranq shot to knock out. A capture yields one Cryptilex Tag of the variant you captured.

  • Burrowing Cryptilex

  • Septic Cryptilex

  • Caustic Cryptalix

3. Vulpaphyla, One of two Echo-Lures available at Entrati rank 1. These resemble Kavats, though they are referred to as a variant of Canines. They take one shot to Tranq, and yield one Vulpaphyla Tag of the variant you captured.

  • Sly Vulpaphyla

  • Crescent Vulpaphyla

  • Panzer Vulpaphyla (Takes 3 tranq shots)

4. Predasite, One of two Echo-lures available at Entrati rank 1. These take 2 tranq shots to bring down, and after the first it will stop and attempt to see where you shot it from. Shooting twice quickly will prevent you being spotted. They will yield one Predasite tag of the variant you captured. This species leaves toxic scat along its trail, so be careful when tracking lest you meet an unfortunate fate.

  • Vizier Predasite

  • Pharoh Predasite

  • Medjay Predasite

5. Avichaea, The only Echo-Lure available at Etrati rank 2. They only take one tranq to subdue, but like to fly very annoyingly high up in the air.

  • Common Avichaea

  • Sporule Avichaea

  • Viscid Avichaea
Deimos Companions
Heart of Deimos introduced a new system in which certain captured species can be turned into companions. Companions are outside the scope of this guide, however, I have discovered a method (possibly a glitch? To obtain potential companions more easily.

The Species who can be made into companions are; any form of Predasite, and any form of Vulpaphyla. You are able to find these specimens out in the wild, and capturing these will yield a "weakened" varint of the normal three. These weakened specimens are what can be converted into a companion at Brother.

My discovered method involves calling one such specimen using an Echo-Lure, and then allowing it to be attacked by enemies. Tranq the specimen after it has been damaged, and it will yield a weakened variant as opposed to a standard specimen.
Ranking up via Convservation
When farming for rep, the methods I used found are detailed below. I used Conservation to farm all of my repp up to Old Mate. Using a Pheromone Synthesizer is a viable strategy, though it will eat into your reputation stores, thus extending the amount of time it takes to achieve max standing with Fortuna. Using one makes it impossible to recieve the common varient of a creature, you will get atleast the uncommon, and frequently the rare.

From Unranked up to Doer, I farmed Pobbers, three perfects netted me between 1200 and 1800 rep per hunt. This beats out Virmink (Unlocked at Outworlder) by a slight margin, as Virmink, though faster per capture, give less rep per hunt. Sawgaws are a non question for rep, their hunts are far too time consuming.

At Doer, I switched to Bolarolas. Using Loki you can get right up in their face and grab a perfect capture. Ivara can also achieve a perfect capture by scoring a direct hit with her arrow. This nets between 1000 and 2500 rep per run. By using a Pheromone Lure you can gaurentee atleast a return of 1200 rep (1500 - 300) which is the mininum for Pobbers, and have a chance at 2200 rep (2500-300), which exceeds the Pobber max of 1800.

At Cove, you unlock Horrasque and Stovers. I was unable to farm these as they were not out when I was ranking up, but if they had been, I would have farmed Stover. Stover yield between 1600 and 3800 rep per capture without using a phermone, with a Pheromone, it gaurentees 2300 rep (2700 - 400) and gives a chance at 3400 (3800 - 400). Horrasque are far slower to hunt and give less rep, making them a non argument.

At Old Mate you unlock the Kubrodon, and are faced with a dilema. Stovers or Kubrodon?
Old Mate Rep Capping With Conservation
Upon reaching the rank of Old Mate, there are two primary methods of grinding out daily Fortuna Standing, both detailed below with their Pros and ♥♥♥♥. These methods are not ranked as I see them as both being viable.

a. Stovers with Ivara. Farming Stovers with a tranq rifle is time consuming, due to the resilience they have agaisnt it. As such, unless Ivara is an option for you, this method is likely non viable. Using a Pheromone Synthesizer will drasticaly reduce the number of hunts you must perform to reach rep cap. The method is fairly straight forward, locate a Stover hunt, perform it, use archwing to go to the next hunt. Due to the confined nature of caves, you frequently do not need to track the animal to find the call point. Using this method I was able to rep cap in 14 minutes and 32 seconds. The fastest hunt I performed during the above test was 14 seconds long. On Average I was recieving 1450 rep per minute.

b. Kubrodons with Loki and Hushed Invisibility. Using this method, you will recieve between 2000 and 8000 rep per run. The average is slightly lower than Stovers, but with a lucky run you can rep cap in as few as four runs (at MR 26). Using this method, my average hunt time is 45 seconds, with the fastest time (that I was actually timing) being 32 seconds. My average time to cap rank is 11 minutes 21 seconds*, the theoretical fastest time, using my avg hunt time and the afformentioned 4 cap limit, is 4 minutes 13 seconds.

Using Pheromone Lures one can accelerate both of the above methods, but will recieve less rep overall, due to the initial investment required.

*I have more experiance with these runs, since I have been doing them for longer than stovers have been out, and I personnally dislike the cave navigation so I am slower at stovers than someone who spends a lot of time in the caves.

Just some things I've noticed in the Plains of Eidolon. All variants of Condroc and Kuaka can be found without lures. I'm having trouble finding any Mergoo at all in the wild though. At this point I'm pretty sure all variants of Mergoo require a lure to find.

Psycholor, I use Excalibur's "Radial Blind" (or Umbra's "Radial Howl"). Stuns the targets if in range. REALLY useful against Kubrodons and Stovers. Sawgaws, I hadnt TRIED, but in theory should help.

Jury is still out on that, I have not observed an animal drinking in the Vallis. One could assume that perhaps they consume snow?
Unity's Helm 10 mars 2019 à 22h06
Question what do the animals drink? Im pretty sure its not a good idea for them to be drinking coolant.
Psycholor  [créateur] 5 mars 2019 à 10h35
Yes, you can.

Tested and updated, thank you.

as of hotfix 24.2.5 ivara sleep arrow now should score perfect again but must have a direct hit to score a perfect capture

Warframe Sleep abilities.
Psycholor  [créateur] 20 déc. 2018 à 23h54
Only getting the good capture is because of Ivara Tranq Arrow. Warframe abilities lock the rating to good as of Profit Taker.
