Here is how to get the Scarecrow achievement easily.

Start the game on a day when the scarecrow is active. Day 21-28. I always pick day 23 just to be safe.

When the day begins, head outside through the hallway outside the TV room.

You should see the scarecrow up on his pole once you go through the door.

Turn your back to the scarecrow, leave your hand off your mouse, and wait for night to fall.

It's really important that you don't touch your mouse at all!

Moving your mouse in any way can cause this to fail.

You'll hear him shuffling around you once the sun goes down but don't move, you'll be fine. He won't get you.

Keep listening to him shuffling around. Don't touch your mouse or try to look at him in any way.

When you can hear him actually breathing behind you, hit the 'S' key so that you start slowly backing up without running. Remember that you're still not touching your mouse, just keep backing up.

Eventually, you will back into the scarecrow and trigger the scare. But since you didn't touch your mouse or hit your shift key, it didn't register as fear.
