Trust me, I tried everything to make it look better (many iterations) and I've finally settled like we have it now. There are MANY limitations of the original lantern and so the modding results are limited. Take the angle for example. The light is a cone! Reason? See the notes on mod.db.
Flickering:
You get this impression because the lantern flickering is done like this:
- the light is actually emited to a limited cutoff distance
- then there's a variation added to that distance value: max range, min range, randomness etc. (all available through the game editor)
- all of this bollocks topped with... the variations may only happen slowly
I could only work with what I had at hand you see :)
The flickering only at the far end does feel a bit off though. The light is consistent until the very end, where it flickers. It looks like the two are different light sources this way, a bit weird.
It would look better if the whole light flickered IMO if you are still working on the mod.
Thanks for a great mod :)
