Trucks Personal Description Disclamer
This is going to be different compared to my other vehicle guides and their respective personal descriptions. I will be talking in general terms of overall truck viability per type of truck as they share the same reliability stats.

Overall point of view and to make you the reader aware of my biases. All but 2 type of trucks to me are useless with 2 exemptions. If 2 factories are close to each other that trains or ships would make no profit it may be worth using trucks to ease the loss profits although with less productivity. 2 if your not on a Alpine scenario and 2 factories are separated by a mountain pass it will be cheaper and easier to use trucks. Almost all other types of transport for cargo are more effective and easier to manage.

Now the above have exemptions, good's and mail trucks due to their unique type of cargos. They require at minimum of 4 tier 3-6 building (I'll make a guide in the future and put a link here on buildings). As such you might have to destroy half a town to put a train station, airport, or harbor and hope the buildings don't despawn due to your destruction. With trucks all you have to do at most is find a interestion (or road) and remove 1 road section and put a cargo depo (and if you want put the road back). This will not destroy any buildings and at most will reduce you town approval rating by 1%.

There won't be a viable distance measurement by me for each truck in this guide due to my biased options but instead a rating system of 1/6. 1 being worst truck 6 being best truck. But I will give a average distance of the 4 generation of trucks at the bottom.

Now that’s out of the way here are my horrible descriptions on the trucks.
Trucks Personal Description
I will not discuss purchase price or maintenance cost due to their monthly cost changes unless there is a big reason why but not in detail.

Cattle Truck: This the most neutral truck's in the game to me. It's faster then the stockcars (livestock train cars) and all ships. BUT the benefits only come out with the gen 4 Cattle Truck and even then the Cattle truck only has the advantage on straight roads. 4/6

Flatbed Truck: Trains and ships are superior in every way except in steel. Steel is the best long distance time taker cargo due to it's slow ""decay"" rate. Even so Trains and ships do it better. 2/6

Goods Truck: This is one of the only 2 good trucks due to it cargo types. You might not make a lot of money, BUT it can get into tight spaces. 5/6

Hopper Truck: This is the largest cargo holding truck. That's all it's got going for it. It's just meh to me but it can make some of the best money. 3/6

Mail Truck: While it only has 3 generations it's the most useful truck. Mail in this game is difficult to manage if you want high speed rail you can't have mail as mail cars are always slower than the high speed trains. Mail is also not very good if it takes too long so with ships it can be difficult to transport. But the mail truck can transport mail around town or between 2 nearby towns and make a nice bit of money. 6/6

Tanker Truck: Now we got some strange things in here. The 3rd generation tanker truck can have a trailer that adds 10 tons of oil or chemicals to its load at the cost of speed and making it the largest truck in the game (which can cause traffic jams). But that does not make this a good truck to use. 1/6

Every truck is good for short to medium range. But Generation 4 can go long range as long as the road is mostly straight.

Final note: The Flatbed and tanker are equally bad in my option but the tanker is slightly worse due to the 3 generation problems.
