Some Basics of Logistics
(edited 12/19/2023) I've updated this guide, this game has changed a lot since I wrote this in 2018! I removed and adjusted a lot of the wrong information. I hope you learn a lot here!

- Try to avoid playing the logistics squad leader for your first few times in logistics. It's a demanding role best left to somebody who knows what they're doing.

- Use T (default) to access the fortifications and obstacles placement.

- Use your entrenching tool to build. Hold left click to build and right click to deconstruct.

- When using your entrenching tool to build remember to hold down left click until the digging action stops, otherwise the object you are trying to build will not have full health.

- When using the logistics truck you must hold down F (default) to refill the truck with supplies and to dump supplies.

- You can only resupply the logistics truck at the main base.

- Each logistics truck can supply 1000 build points. Each time you dump supplies it drops 500 build points (or less if less then 500 is available in the truck).

- Dumped supplies cannot be moved, but they offer a greater build range then building from the truck.

- Squad leaders of infantry sections can place defences, sometimes it is best to leave supplies for them to build defences.

- A FOB can only be placed by the logistics squad leader.

- A FOB can only be removed by a satchel charge, 3Kg exlosive charge, etc. Bombing missions and tanks cannot completely destroy the FOB, meaning it can be rebuilt. FOBs can be dug down by enemy infantry, if they have the time. An enemy sapper, or bombing run, can destroy a FOB entirely.

- FOBs recieve some free defenses, sometimes this comes in handy.

- Ammo crates are very useful, try to place at least one at each capzone and FOB.

- Weapons emplacements can be upgraded by holding F (default) and clicking upgrade. This costs 100 build points (or free at a FOB).

- Only the AT and AP classes in the logistics squads can place mines. Use them wisely as you can only place a few before the old ones disappear. AT mines should be placed on roads closer to the enemy base that enemy vehicles are likely to take. AP mines are useful around the current objective (or the enemies next active objective if you're feeling brave). Keep in mind friendlies can set off your mines, so be careful about placement.
General Placement of Objects
From here on this guide will focus on more advanced knowledge, primarily as the logistics squad leader. However, keep in mind its alwatys useful to have this knowledge as part of the logistics squad, or even as an infantry squad leader.

Where to Place a FOB

When placing a FOB you need to consider a few things. First, and most obvious, you can't place it within the red zone shown on the map (though there are some tricks, more on this later). Second, it requires cover. A FOB placed with no surrounding cover (buildings, trees, hills, etc) is likely to be destroyed by enemy armour or fire support quickly. While you can put fortifications around the FOB to protect it from fire, ulimately it will not hold up. Third, distance to objectives (not as obvious as it seems, more on this later).

The FOB can be rather forgiving when being placed. You can easily place it within most buildings, and often can clip it into the terrain. Use this to your advantage to hide your FOB. A FOB that has been seen by the enemy is as good as dead, as there will soon be airstrikes or armour trying to destroy it, with a sapper coming to finish it off.

When placing a FOB keep in mind the routes that your team can take when leaving the FOB. Sometimes a great spot for a FOB will have poor routes, resulting it many unnecessary deaths.

Placing Fortifications and Machineguns

Placing defences in critical locations can win rounds. Each objective is different, but try your best not to just place defences for the sake of using points, always try to maximize the cost effectiveness of your build points.

Hardly anybody will attack across open ground if they have other choices, so having lots of defences watching an open field will not be a good use of build points.

Start with simple point defences. This is often the only type you will get to use so make them count. By point defences I mean the placement of bunkers and other fortifications in key points. For example placing a bunker at the end of a trenchline or ditch can deny the enemies advance up said trenchline or ditch.

Hopefully you can get overlapping fields of fire from your defences. Avoid just placing them in a circle around the objective, try to angle them so as to hit the flanks of advancing enemies rather than face them head on.

The bunker with a roof is the most useful of all fortifications. It is costly, but generally provides great cover and firing angles for those inside it.

Keep in mind that friendlies need to be able to reach your defences. You may have an amazing fortification, but if it cannot be easily reinforced by your team then it will cost more tickets then it is worth.

Spread out your defences, a single artillery strike or bombing run shouldn't completely destroy all the defences you've built.

Machineguns can be very effective when placed properly, but keep in mind that those using them are easily killed. This is why you must put them in places that provide good cover from the sides. Always upgrade your MG unless it is already is very good cover. Try to place them like bunkers, facing down likely avenues of enemy approach or on flanks where the enemy won't be facing.. Alternatively you can place them at the rear of a objective so as to be able to fire into the objective killing enemy occupiers.

Do not undervalue the usefulness of razorwire. It can deny the enemy an approach, forcing them out into the open. It can only be destroyed by explosives, artillery, or tank shells. Grenades will not destroy it.

Placement of Mortars

Mortars are loud. They can be heard from hundreds of meters away. Enemies will come to investigate if they hear them. Do not, under any circumstance, place mortars close to a FOB. This will get the FOB found and destroyed.

Otherwise placement of mortars isn't too critical. Try to place them close enough to hit a few objectives, but far enough away infantry won't just stumble onto them.
Logistics - Offensive (Defending)
(edited 12/19/2023) Logistics squads on the defence do not DO have the ability to place FOBs. This means you will almost entirely be focused on placing defences at objectives. This is a change from earlier versions of the game, and makes defensive logistics sections much more important!

Without going into too much detail, FOB placement follows similar rules as for the attacker. Place your FOB in cover, and make sure there's good routes for your team mates to use to get towards the objective. Most importantly, make sure you have an FOB ready to go for the next objective in the order. The last thing you want is for the objective to be captured and your team to have no nearby spawn points at the next objective.

Remember, the enemy (assuming competency) will find and destroy your FOBs. It's just a matter of time. Defending FOBs should have some level of redundancy. You don't want your teams defences hinging on a single FOB.

Always get ammo crates down, preferably two, in each objective. This allows anti-tank and other important infantry roles to refill their ammo quickly when it is needed most.

Try to avoid building defences at just one objective, try to build defences at the next objective in the order. While doing this beware of enemy infantry raiding this objective to either backcap or destroy defences.

Mortars may be tempting to use, but keep in mind anybody can use them. Sometimes it is best to leave them in objectives for teammates to use while you build defences.
Logistics - Offensive (Attacking)
Being on the attacking team in offensive mode is completely different then defending. As the logistics squad leader almost your entire game will be dedicated to placing FOBs, let your other logistics squad members worry about mortar placement. Defences are basically worthless as an attacker, only use them at a FOB if you wish.

Mortars are very useful, though should be coordinated with the team for maximum effectiveness. As the logistics squad leader try to coordinate some fire missions.

Offensive mode gives attackers MSPs to spawn by in addition to the FOBs. MSPs are valuable and are often played conservatively, this leaves the FOBs to be placed more aggressively. Try to place a FOB ahead of the current objective prepared for the next objective, or even later. You may also use your second FOB to do the same if you wish, or if the team is struggling you should use it support the current attack.

One of the most important things to keep in mind when placing FOBs as an attacker is this: The unspawnable red zone only prevents FOB placement, not spawning at a FOB. As the map progresses the red zone's size and shape will change. Before an objective is active the red zone will be circular and will shrink the closer it is to being the next active objective. Once the objective becomes active the red zone will become a small circle with a large half circle on the rear side of the objective. What this means is that if you place a FOB behind enemy objective Y while the one prior to it in the series, objective X, is active then when objective Y becomes the active objective your FOB will be within the enemies red zone, but because it was already placed it will still be spawnable. This means you can have a spawnpoint considerably closer to the enemy on a flank that is hopefully weak.

As a member of the logistics squad, do not underestimate the value of building ammo crates in the terrain surrounding objectives. Especially if you can get them behind enemy lines. Friendly sappers and anti-tank will thank you.
Logistics - RAAS
(edited 12/19/2023) Your FOBs are your teams only source of forward spawnpoints (besides rally points). While your team does get one MSP, FOBs will provide the bulk of spawn locations for your team. Failure to build FOBs will result in your team losing, destruction of all of your FOBs at the same time will almost certainly result in your team losing.

Always place your first FOB conservatively, do not place it on some long flank objectives ahead of where it will be needed. You can always defend, but you cannot always attack, keep that in mind. Try to place it in some well protected location with quick access to the first, and maybe the second, objective.

Your second FOB can be more ambitious. Place it ahead in a well hidden location with good access to the third and fourth objectives. This will give your team a good avenue of attack on the enemy objectives. Try to avoid placing much more then the FOB and an ammo crate. Minimize the chances of this FOB being found, even if it means placing it futher away.

Keep in mind that the redzone is the same for both sides in this mode. This can prove a guide for finding enemy FOBs (or revealing your own). People will often place them very close to current objectives and the edge of the redzone. Try to avoid doing this too often, as you will lose many FOBs. Sometimes a longer walk is worth the extra safety of the FOB.

While the logistics squad leader is placing FOBs, the logistics squad members should be constructing defences. Try to avoid losing a logistics truck while doing this, dump supplies and move on quickly.

Mortars are a waste of the logistics squads potential in this mode, build them for teammates, not yourself.

If you have a fourth man in the logistics squad do not be afraid to send him out with the HE kit. Destroying enemy FOBs is key in RAAS and having him roaming the countryside looking for FOBs and destorying them can be very useful.

Place at least 3 ammo box if defending a point. Bring supplies to the front as close a you can when u attack, Squad's will be happy.

Great guide. Logistics can very rewarding but it does take a lot of practice.

More logistics squads need to get ammo crates to the front!

Also, it may be important to note that dropping supplies off on a FOB location more than likely will waste the supply points. The FOB will not use the supply points and unless you deconstruct the entire thing you cannot use those supplies.

Too often do I see logistic truck drivers drop supplies off right on top of a FOB. It is sad when all you want is an ammo crate near the objective and there are 4,450 supply points sitting on a FOB.
