Roadmap
First of all, if you're reading this and you want to achieve 100% completion, these are the things you should know:

  • 16 out of 29 total achievements are missable. The unmissable ones have been put in a separate section and you don't need to worry about them at all - they are all story related and will unlock themselves as you progress through the game.
  • You only need to complete the game one time from start to end to unlock all achievements, provided you don't miss anything.
  • Missable achievements have been listed in the order of unlocking, so if you want to avoid spoilers at all costs, you can read the descriptions one at a time and not miss anything.
  • The Way doesn't feature manual saving, only a single autosave slot, which can screw you up in a number of ways. If you're anxious about missing an achievement, remember you can always save scum by manually backing up the save file at your leisure. It is located in the following folder:
    C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\The Way\savedata.sav

And that's it! Good luck, have fun and enjoy The Way. :)
Missable Achievements

Play It Safe
Why jump when you can climb?
Climb all the way down a long ladder, without jumping off. You can use either the emergency hatch or the crane chain in the spaceship hangar. You can probably get it at other places too.

No Time For This!
Why climb when you can jump?
Analogically Play It Safe, but grab the ladder/chain at the top, then jump down and catch the chain at the very bottom to avoid a fatal fall. You can also probably get it at other places as well.
Reference: Alice in Wonderland

Stop Hitting Yourself!
Your head probably hurts like hell...
Jump and hit your head on the ceiling four times in a row or so.

Blind Spot
Seems those ground drones have a blind spot
Follow a floor security robot and stand precisely in the middle of where it stops. When it turns around it won't detect you, which will unlock the achievement.

Reckless
Yup, keep trying... Maybe you'll get lucky next time
As soon as you arrive on the alien planet you can recklessly jump off the cliffs and kill yourself a couple of times in a row to unlock this, but you can probably get it in other places.
Reference: Probably ye olde Polish comic "Przygody Koziołka-Matołka" or "The Adventures of a Billy-Goat Cretin" in English. Get it? Because he's dumb. And a goat. And they jump on cliffs.

Remember Me
Collect all memories
For this achievement you need to find and collect 7 memories of Tom's Love. These look like a ghostly blue apparition of her. You start just as you arrive on it - look at the "Memory Locations" section down below for a list.

Quick Witted
Well...That was fast
Solve a puzzle quickly. The only ones that count are those that open up an additional interface that you can close with a red X in upper-right corner. I don't know the exact required time, but you can easily do the first three puzzles in under a minute without much trouble.
Reference: Star Trek

Slow Thinker
Take your time and do it right
Similar to Quick Witted, but you need to take more than 3 minutes to solve a puzzle without leaving the puzzle screen.
Reference: I can't recall... If you know - please comment! I am 100% sure I've seen that orc/goblin face somewhere, but my memory is confusing it between Gobliiins, Warcraft II peons and The Great Wahooka (or, if you prefer, Wahooka, The Great).

Apparate!
Did you just apparate to the same spot?
Teleport to the exact same place where you're standing (which basically means clicking twice).
Reference: Harry Potter

I thought it would work...
...but the explosion killed me
Get yourself killed by trying to block a grenade launcher droid's projectile with your Shield.
Reference: Silver Surfer

Close Enough
It fits but it doesn't work
In the East Generator, when you assemble the rail from 5 pieces, you must do it in a specific, incorrect way. You can unfortunately lock yourself out of the achievement if you accidentaly solve the puzzle correctly, so you might wanna save scum for this. This is generally horrible, because the elements blend with the brackground too much. If you want a direct solution, look at this screenshot by kalizmocho, who kindly posted it in the forums:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=786513610
Try to assemble the pieces in this exact order. Tom will comment on it in red font and the achievement should pop.

It Never Hit the Ground
Bounce, bounce, bounce...
On your way to the West Generator, you're going to be attacked with fireballs. You need to use your Shield at a specific angle, depending on the distance between you and the attacker, and bounce the same fireball on it three times in a row. It's tricky, but certainly doable. It doesn't really have to never hit the ground, just bouncing it three times should suffice. If you accidentaly bounce the fireball to your attackers and kill them, just restart before you progress further. As an alternative - you also encounter fireballs in the South Generator as a deadly puzzle element and you could try unlocking this achievement there. The angles there make bouncing a lot easier. Confirmed to be working:

Pattern? What Pattern?
You can't brute force the steam vents...
In the South Generator you will encounter some deadly steam vents that you need to figure out how to get through (there's a pattern you need to follow). Just kill yourself repeatedly on them as soon as you see them and the achievement should pop.

You Call That a Bullet Hell?
Beat the Boss...Without dying even once.
Don't die during the boss "fight" at the end. No need to save scum for this - after finishing the game you can select "Continue" and it will load exactly at the beginning on the boss fight and you can attempt this again. You'll have to do that either way to get the two ending achievements. If you still failed, remember that after dying once you can just close the game and load it again. Apparently this last fight was severely nerfed after player complaints, but it doesn't make much sense either way and move speed is pretty much infuriating. I'm afraid there's not much advice that can be given here, as navigating a bullet hell is more skill-based than informative. Fortunately your hitbox is quite small, about the size of the bright white pixels in the center of the light that you get to control.

Ever After

Take Me With You!
You get these for choosing each of the two endings at the very end. No need to save scum - if you didn't get the other one yet, just select "Continue" after watching the post-credits scene, beat the boss again and choose the other one this time.

You're right, I didn't make that clear, I'll add it soon. Thanks!

Excellent guide!
A note about remember me and memories, it seems like the memories must be collected in a single playthrough to trigger the achievement. I restarted the game to get the one I was missing, but skipped the one before, and there was a game prompt about 1/7 memories collected, no achievement.

It does look a bit like an Ogre from Adventures of the Gummi Bears! Though I don't think they have exposed fangs.

oh nice.. I do think the avatar is from another game trolls but yeah nice

I think the slow thinker reminds an ogr or orc from the story "gumisie", its very similar, and they are slow thinkers, so that would be correct

No, the image is definitely Hangover reference; the title *might* be Pi, but could be just a coincidence
Yuri  [author] Nov 4, 2021 @ 7:04pm
Not a fan of Hangover really, I like Aronofsky's films and I've seen almost all of them, it's not bias, I really don't know any other film in which mathematical notation is literally swirling around a protagonist's head. :p
Nasty Hero Nov 1, 2021 @ 7:00am
@Kaldire
...lol. No. I mean the movie "Pi". By Darren Aronofsky. You could have googled him before making that snarky comment as he's a really well-known director known for e.g. Black Swan or Requiem for a Dream.
And this is one of the scenes I'm referring to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNOQUPmgbnY

Just checked the script for The Hangover. No mention of patterns there, HOWEVER I can see that the graphic is clearly taken from that movie. I'd guess the name of the achievement might have been inspired by Pi.
