By Phuderoso

FULL INTRO
Those simulators were the best during the early 2000's decade... However, there was a problem for all NOVALOGIC simulators, the only option available under "3D Card Driver" was the "3d-Fx Voodoo1/Voodoo2." even if your PC could handle heavy 3d Acceleration. Here is the way to get the Graphic Acceleration working again, once the original 3d-Fx drivers where these simulators were developed are not available anymore. Just minor adjustments and tweeks can get your computer ready to play this simulator for full visual performance like it was intended by the original developers.

Run the nGlideXXX_setup.exe and click Install button.
That's all. You can now play your 3Dfx Glide games.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Does nGlide also support DOS Glide games?

Yes, but not in native Windows environment. You must install DOSBox with Gulikoza's patch.
These three builds contain it: Ykhwong's, CosmicDan's, Gulikoza's. After installation delete glide2x.dll file from DOSBox directory (if any) and set memsize=63 in dosbox.conf.
Last step is to install nGlide. Now you can run DOS Glide games from DOSBox console.

  • Does nGlide support widescreen monitors?

Yes, nGlide supports 16:9 and 16:10 widescreen resolutions. For these, you can set original 4:3 aspect ratio to avoid image stretching.

  • Does nGlide render in 16-bit color depth?

No. All is converted and rendered in 32-bit, no matter what color depth mode is selected in-game. This eliminates color banding problem.

  • How to enable Anti-Aliasing/ Anisotropic filtering with nGlide?

A: Go to your Display driver panel and set Anti-Aliasing Mode to 'Override application setting'. Adjust Anti-Aliasing Level setting. Anisotropic Filtering Mode setting can be found on the same page.

  • How to switch between full-screen and windowed mode?

A: Press Alt+Enter on a keyboard while playing.

  • How to Disable desktop composition?

Right click on the game .exe file and click Properties. Select Compatibility tab, and check
'Disable desktop composition' option. Click Apply and OK button.

  • My Glide game is working too fast.

Go to nGlide configurator and set 'Vertical synchronization' option to 'On'.

  • I'm experiencing screen tearing effect.

Go to nGlide configurator and set 'Vertical synchronization' option to 'On'.

  • How to disable 3Dfx logo splash screen?

Go to nGlide configurator and set '3Dfx logo splash screen' option to 'Off'.

  • How to make your own game patch?

1) Download and install Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit.
2) Run Compatibility Administrator. 3) Click 'Fix' button. Enter game
name and browse game *.exe file. 4) In the 'Compatibility Fixes' dialog
try selecting some of these fixes: 'CorrectFilePaths', 'EmulateGetDiskFreeSpace', 'GlobalMemoryStatusLie', 'EmulateDirectDrawSync', 'EmulateEnvironmentBlock',
'EmulateHeap', 'EmulateFindHandles', 'SingleProcAffinity'. Make sure you have
DisableBoostThread' fix unchecked. 5) Save your patch to *.sdb file.
6) Create install batch file (PatchInstall.bat with command:
sdbinst.exe -q "%CD%\yourpatch.sdb"). 7) Create uninstall
batch file (PatchUninstall.bat with command:
sdbinst.exe -u -q "%CD%\yourpatch.sdb").
Final considerations
The Add-on "dgvoodoo" is ok for all NOVALOGIC flight sims too. Just extract all files into the root directory and copy both "glide2x.dll" and "ddraw.dll" into the root directory. Run the setup and you can force "AA" in any resolution you want. You will need to choose Voodoo as the graphic card to emulate and Voodoo2 has more RAM and forces the z buffer at 1024x768 which some times gets control tower missing, as for some planes on the runway. However, using this Add-on will turn everything easier, giving you more options to adjust within the game to the size of the screen you are using.

You notice that once the procedures were done, the Video
Card box is now in colors and can be turned "On" or "Off".

You can emulate with Glide wrapper - Jacks up the resolution
as high as you like. Works fine for my system at 1920x1080.

ENJOY & HAVE FUN!

Phuderoso, im most interesting if it fixes the CCIP when dropping bombs. Without these things i remember the impact point on the HUD was somewhere in the middle of the instrument cluster making it more or less useless.

Thanks Vic! This is the least I can do to offer something in return to a game community that was part of my teenager-hood. :cozyroe2:
