Third stage
Expert Mode-Only Content :This information applies only to Expert mode and Expert mode worlds.
When Duke Fishron falls below 9,000 health, there will be a little pause and then the sky will transition from normal to be shrouded with a thick, blue fog. Everything, including Duke Fishron, becomes less visible within the fog but still can be located using the minimap, or his small, glowing yellow eyes. While the fog is active, Duke Fishron reaches maximum speed and begins to teleport and dash in order to ram the player.

His damage is reduced to 184.
He becomes invisible and then teleports to the other side of your screen, then becomes visible again, dashing very quickly at the player in front of and slightly above the player, making running away impossible.
After each dash, there is a small pause.

upon defeating duke you will get the Fish Out of Water Achievement
The Battle
Weapons That Will be Usefull
  • Tactical Shotgun
  • Magnet Sphere
  • Xeno Popper with chloro bullets
  • Possessed Hatchet
  • Influx Waver
  • Lazer Machine Gun

The Fight
Duke will start with dashing then target you with bubbles
these attacks are easy to dodge and will not deal too much damage to the player
after Duke will summon the first 2 sharknados and then the real fight begins
sharknados will stay untill duke summons more and if the player runs into them they will take damage, this part of the first phase will be easy if the player knows how to dodge the attacks, the second phase will be much harder, he will ram you much faster and can now summon more bubbles and can summon a homing Cthulhunado that will chase the player untill it hits them
Cthulhunados are the hardest part of Duke Fishron mostly becuase of its massive range and damage, but if the player puts the Cthulhunado into a spot where it cant hit the player then it wont be so much of a pain, in expert mode duke wil pause and summon fog to make him invisible and chase the player, in this phase he will teleport infront of the player and ram at max speed making it impossible to escape,
Note:Duke will not summon bubbles or Cthulhunados in the third phase (i think)

Tips
at the start of the battle run far enough so that duke's first dash wont hit, then start attacking duke with a weapon that can deal alot of damage while running, when duke starts blowing bubbles at you hit the bubbles so that they wont hit you, the sharknados will be the toughest part but if you can put them into a spot where they cant hurt you it will make your life much easier, if not then try flying over them always, when second phase starts duke will pause and this is the time for you to attack him with all you got, Cthulhunados will start coming and theres not really much you can do to stop a Cthulhunado from hitting you so the best thing to do is put the nado into a spot where it wont cause you trouble, duke will be much faster so when duke is near you try going down or up but dont go to space since it will slow you down, the third phase is the hardest for new players but all you really need to do is watch your hp and dont get tricked by duke's teleporting, when duke teleports start attacking the space infront of you and when duke shows up dash straight away if you dont have a dash then fall fast.
Notes/History/Trivia
History of Duke Fishron in the Desktop version
Desktop 1.3.1: Highly increased "run away" distance.
Desktop 1.3.0.1:
Now Drops Treasure Bag in Expert mode.
A third stage and attack type is also implemented when fighting him in Expert mode.
Now becomes enraged when leaving the ocean.
Given a new death sprite.
Desktop 1.2.4.1:
Now drops Greater Healing Potions instead of Lesser Healing Potions.
All of Fishron’s weaponry now sells for 5 gold coins. This will fix the low reforge costs.
Now only one Duke Fishron can be summoned at a time.
Desktop 1.2.4: Introduced.

Some Notes from the wiki of Terraria
Straying too far from the Ocean area during the fight causes Duke Fishron to "enrage", lunging at the player continuously, dealing double damage, and gaining double defense (similar to Plantera's "enraged" behavior outside the Underground Jungle). However, Duke Fishron won't enrage whatsoever on old-gen consoles. Note that altitude does not matter, as long as the player remains far enough east or west. Also note that Duke Fishron will not despawn because of the biome or time of day.
This can make it easier to defeat him with strategies that would otherwise take a long time.
Duke Fishron can also be summoned from a lava pool near the edge of the world with the Hotline Fishing Hook.
Duke Fishron has a 33% chance to inflict Bleeding, a 33% chance to inflict Feral Bite, and a final 33% chance to inflict nothing when hitting the player.
Duke Fishron's weapon drops have considerably low reforge costs compared to other weaponry acquired around the same time (e.g. the Terra Blade).

Trivia
Duke Fishron was originally part of an April Fools joke by Terraria staff that claimed an "Aquarian Horde" event was to be included in the game. The Duke Fishron element alone ended up actually being introduced.
Duke Fishron resembles a mutant creature in Futurama Season 4 Episode 2: Leela's Homeworld.
The Sharknado attack is an allusion to the 2013 film Sharknado.
Duke Fishron turns transparent when over blocks, much the same way that Pigrons do.
Duke Fishron drops an absurdly low amount of coins compared to other Hardmode bosses, despite being one of the toughest to defeat.
Duke Fishron appears to be a combination of a shark, a pig, and a dragon. Cenx confirmed that the Pigron was a cross between the latter two creatures, which further proves this theory.
On the Console version, Duke Fishron’s eyes used to turn red in his second form
