Introduction
On the PlayStation 4 version of Fantasy Zone, holding down the fire button will cause fast rapid fire. See this YouTube video at 0:29. However, on PC, SEGA have drastically reduced the rate of rapid fire. This can make the game frustratingly hard, especially if you are going for 100% completion as you need to get 100,000 points. Fortunately, you can enable turbo options for any controller connected to Steam. If you're using a keyboard, I'm sure there's software out there for this. Keep in mind that Real Yakuza Use A Gamepad[pbs.twimg.com](apparently).

Note: For those unaware, a "Generic Controller" is basically any controller connected to Steam that is not a standard controller, i.e. Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, DualShock (PlayStation) Controller or Xbox Controller.

Opening Controller Configuration
If you are not using Steam Big Picture, look to the right hand side of the game. You should see "Links." At the bottom (or near the bottom) there should be "Controller Configuration." Click on this, and a new window should open up displaying the controller mappings. If you are using Steam Big Picture, navigate to Yakuza 0 and look to the left hand side. Underneath "Your Game" you should see "Manage Game." Click on this, and click on "Controller Configuration."

UPDATE: The new Steam UI has changed how you access a game's controller configuration. You can get to the configuration screen in each of the following ways now:

  • Right click Yakuza 0 from your list of games over on the right hand side of your library, hover over "Manage", and select "Controller Configuration"

  • Select Yakuza 0 from your list of games over on the right hand side of your library, and click on "Controller Configuration" which should be the final option - Note that this may either be on the second row of options for your game (e.g. the first option on the second row) or may be over on the very end of the options, underneath the game's banner

  • Select Yakuza 0 from your list of games over on the right hand side of your library, and click on the cog/settings icon at the right hand side. From here, go to "Manage", and select "Controller Configuration"

  • Right click on the Yakuza 0 cover art, which may be available from a variety of locations in your library including, but not limited to, a list of your recently played games, or in a custom shelf such as the shelf that shows all of your games. From here, go to "Manage" and select "Controller Configuration"

[Text] Configuring your Controller
Now that you have the screen for configuring the controller open, look for the grouping which contains the fire button for Fantasy Zone. In my case, this would be A/B/X/Y, with B being the Fantasy Zone fire button. Your configuration may be slightly different, for instance if you are using a DualShock controller. Select this grouping and look for the fire button for Fantasy Zone. Once you find it, select it and then look along the bottom of the window. Click on the "Show Activators" option along the bottom, and to the right hand side you should find "Hold To Repeat (Turbo)." This will have a dropdown with "On" and "Off." Select the "On" option, and you're done! You can adjust the rate of turbo fire by moving the slider underneath this dropdown. If you'd prefer, I've also provided links to Imgur galleries showing the same steps.

Conclusion
That's it! Remember to follow these steps and switch Turbo from "On" to "Off" when you're done with Fantasy Zone. Otherwise you might get some unexpected behaviour. This could be considered cheating, however I consider it leveling the (fantasy) playing field. Keep in mind that this does not make the game extremely easy, it's still pretty challenging to get 100,000 points with the turbo enabled.

Have fun playing!

This saved me. It's also super helpful for the catfight minigame if you're bad at button mashing.

Thanks this was frustrating the hell out of me. I kept seeing forum posts saying "Just hold R2 it will shoot faster than you can tap," but I could tap way faster. Then I found out they nerfed the turbo for PC and then found your post. Got it first try after all the "hard mode" practice. :)

Not that it matters now :) As long as they don't have something like Fantasy Zone in Kiwami 2 :D

Glad I was able to help you! Looking back, there's probably a way to add an Activator to this so you don't have to change it each time. But I honestly have no idea on how to do it. Happy gaming!

Thanks a ton bro. I was stuck with this shit for a life time. My wrist would get sore playing this and the space harrier. Somehow, I managed to get the Space Harrier CP done. Fantasy zone was killing me and your guide helped me out.
