How to find the Skeleton Merchant
The Skeleton Merchant is an prehardmode NPC that will not move into one of your available houses. Instead, he spawns randomly in the underground, in the Cavern layer. He is one of the two NPCs without a map icon (second being the Old Man guarding the Dungeon), so constant map checking to find him is not an option. Lifeform Analyzer will not detect him, though Hunter Potion will highlight him. The only sign there is a Skeleton Merchant nearby is lack of enemies. He counts as 7 town NPCs (3 are needed to stop monsters from spawning around them), enabling critters like bunnies to spawn in that area. It's not exclusive only to him - if you find a bunny in the underground, there's a pretty big chance there will be an NPC nearby.

The Skeleton Merchant will throw bones to defend himself from nearby non-skeletal enemies. He does not attack skeletal enemies, nor will they harm him via contact damage. Skeleton archers, however, may shoot him by accident if the player is behind the merchant.

Thanks for putting an actual guide up instead of something like "How to move left", Very helpful even if it is from the wiki since I don't have to open the wiki.
