This page provides overview for all basic CryoFall features.

Basic information

CryoFall

CryoFall is a Sci-Fi multiplayer survival game set on a forgotten planet in a distant future. Technology, trading, crafting, industry, farming, exploration and more!

Description

In CryoFall, you take on the role of a spaceship-crash survivor, where you and dozens of other players find themselves on a forgotten planet.
Players will have to discover the story of this planet, its dark secrets lurking behind the closed doors of abandoned laboratories.

Together with other survivors the players can create their own cities, establish an active economy, industry, or pillage what other survivors managed to put together.

Game features

Character customization

You can change the appearance of your character and use a variety of different equipment and tools to customize your character however you want.
 
 

Inventory

CryoFall features a convenient inventory system where you can equip your character and manage your items. You have equipment slots and implant slots on the left and five device slots on the right.
 
 

Construction

You can construct a multitude of different structures and buildings ranging from simple walls and doors to more complex structures such as lithium processing plants, as displayed in the image here.
 
 

Farming

CryoFall features a complex farming system with a multitude of crops with different properties. You will need to water your crops, and optionally use one of several fertilizers to increase the yield.
You can later use your grown vegetables and fruit to cook.
 
 

Cooking

You can use a cooking table, campfire or cooking stove to prepare many different dishes. Some of those dishes even offer special effects to your character. The cooking system also ties neatly to our character simulation system.
 
 

Brewing

Expanding on the cooking side of CryoFall - you can also brew a number of different beverages, each with different effects.
 
 

Vehicles

While unlocking new technology you can also unlock a number of different vehicles from high-speed hoverboards to heavily armored battle mechs.
 
 

Fishing

Want to try something completely different? You can go fishing! Make yourself a fishing rod, one of several bait types and go fishing in any body of water. The game will keep track of the records for size and length for each of dozens of fish types allowing you to compete with other players.
 
 

Quests

Quests give you interesting objectives and serve as a simple tutorial to introduce you to the game. There are more than several dozens of quests, so even if you are just starting out and don't have particular goals - this could offer you something interesting to try, or goals to pursue.
 
 

Character skills

As you perform any meaningful activity in the game you will slowly unlock and advance skills in a particular field. Skills are separated into several categories (e.g. combat, industrial, personal, etc.) and offer you additional bonuses and abilities in a given field.
 
 

Storage

Even a trivial thing, such as storing your item, is rather deep in CryoFall offering you many different options ranging from simple chests to fridges to store food and display shelves for your important items.
 
 

Character simulation & Medicine system

CryoFall features a complex character simulation system with several dozens of diverse character status effects. Some of them can be seen in the image below, however, there are many more.
Fortunately, a complex medical system offers ample opportunities to use different special items, either to heal your character or to receive special effects.
 
 

Land claim system

To protect your base from raiders and griefers, you can use the land claim system which will protect the area around your base from other people being able to build or deconstruct anything. However, if you are playing on a PvP server, CryoFall still features a full loot system with possible raids by other players. If you would like to play in a more relaxed and creative setting, you can join one of the available PVE servers where combat and raiding are disabled, allowing you to focus on peaceful exploration and technology progression.
 
 

Lighting system

CryoFall features a complex lighting system with multiple light sources, day and night cycle and special devices like night vision.
 
 

Implants

You can install one of many bionic implants into your character offering you special abilities such as seeing in the dark, improved metabolism or using your cells’ ATP energy to recharge your electronic devices.
 
 

Coin minting

To facilitate trade and economy, players are able to mint their own coins which can then be used for trading, either directly or with vending machines.
 
 

Trading

Any player who unlocked the appropriate technology group can access trading options and build their own fully automated trading stations, allowing trade even when the owner is not online. You can set it up to sell or buy any items.
 
 

Factions and leaderboards

Whether it is PvE or PvP server you can create a faction to play with your friends or other players from the server and compete to reach the top of faction leaderboard.
 
 

Decorations

Playing in PvE and want to decorate your base with many different things? You sure can!
 
 

Diverse arsenal

While developing CryoFall we tried to give each piece of equipment as much difference as possible rather than just changing numeric values. The game also clearly shows you what you can expect from each item you find.

Industry

Technology progression

One of the key features of CryoFall is its technology system. You can unlock new technology groups separated into 5 tiers: primitive, industrial, modern, post-modern, sci-fi. Each technology group holds a dozen or so recipes that you can also unlock, offering you tremendous depth to choose a particular area of expertise and work together with other players to achieve mutual goals.
 
 

Crafting

Crafting is handled via recipe selection from a multitude of different crafting stations, allowing to separate recipes by a particular field (e.g. weapon crafting). This also makes choosing your technological progression (essentially a profession) more impactful.
 
 

Electricity

Complex electricity system with generators, such as a steam generator, solar farms, bioreactor, engine generator as well as energy storage and different consumers such as lights, refineries, fridges, electric furnaces, defensive structures, turrets and more.
 
 

High-tech

Higher levels of industrial development offer even more various technologies to be utilized on your base such as psionic-reactor (ala nuclear reactor of the future).
 
 

Industry

Industrial development is one of the key features of CryoFall. You can research and employ a number of complex industrial processes.
 
 

Smelting & manufacturing

Aside from simple crafting, you can also use bigger industrial machines and structures to manufacture goods. This ranges from simple smelting of ores to production of ingots to advanced oil refineries and more.
 
 

Game world

World events

Many different global events happen from time to time to introduce more variety and life into the world. Examples include: meteorite impact, orbital supplies drop, native lifeforms migration, boss battles (Pragmium Queen), etc. More events are added with each new version of the game.
 
 

Biomes

CryoFall features a multitude of different biomes ranging from temperate and tropical to boreal and desert areas.
 
 

Map screen

You can track your exploration with a convenient map screen which shows your explored areas, and locations of important landmarks (e.g. you base or a public trading station, etc.).
 
 

Fantastic creatures

The world of CryoFall is full of interesting and dangerous creatures, each with their unique quirks.

Additional features

Map editor

You can also use the map editor to create custom maps for your server.

Steam Achievements

As the game develops we try to add as much meaningful and interesting achievements as we can to give additional incentives to try many different things in the game and always have something fun to do!
 
 

Custom servers

You can also host your own servers, use your own maps and add any number of mods!

The game is still in active development and new major updates are released regularly.
