Trapper+ is the first in a series of mods that aim to improve the depth and gameplay of each profession in Stonehearth by enriching their crafting processes and giving them more complexity with features akin to a somewhat more realistic experience.

For this mod the leather making process is now broken into different stages - some requiring crafting and others requiring time. In the end, to compensate for the added complexity, the ratio of furs-to-leather is increased, which means that you'll produce more leather from less pelts now. But the production will require you to go through over the new steps which are basically the following:

Drying > Cleaning > Tanning

Added to that, the Trapper can now perform some butchery actions like slicing larger chunks of meat into smaller ones, building a smokehouse that can be used to produce jerky and other smoked goods and also craft some decorations ike animal rugs.

Contents
Animal Resources
Animals will now drop raw meat instead of edible jerky and fresh pelts instead of regular fur pelts. The meat can be used in cooking or smoked in a smokehouse while the pelts need drying.

Drying, Cleaning & Tanning
Fresh pelts will dry after being inside their respective drying racks for a while. After they've dried, workers will move them around as they'll now be regular pelts that can be used in crafting or cleaned into Rawhides and tanned for leather in a tanning tub. The trapper can build the tub and clean the hides.

Butchering & Smoking
Besides leather making the trapper is also the one responsible for butchering and building smokehouses. Butchering will allow you to turn larger chunks of meat into smaller, more numerous ones while smokehouses can be used to turn raw meat and other resources into edible, preserved foods.

Other
The mod contains some other things like special decorations and profession hats the trapper can craft for themselves and improve their stats a bit!

Compatibility
Trapper+ requires the Dani's Core Mod to function.
This mod should always be compatible with most mods as long as they do not override basic
functions of the game or the Trapper class controller.

Warning! Installing this mod and loading up a saved game that already has a Trapper can, sometimes, result in weird behaviors! It is recommended to promote them back to Worker, install the mod and then make them trappers again! (or start a new game) :)

Localization
This mod is completely compatible with Stonehearth's localization, it is in English (en) by default but also includes a Brazillian Portuguese (pt-BR) translation.

I think storage is broken. My people put in the raw meat to smoke. It gets smoked, but they can't store it anywhere. It'll sit in the smokehouse fully smoked. Sometimes after a VERY long time, they decide to take it out. They're all idle, so they're not busy

@Ivo you've missed reading, because that's exactly what this mod is about and you should probably read the description before subscribing to a mod :)

The items inside the game will also explain that to you.
Basically you dry fresh pelts into regular pelts using the drying frame, then you craft (with the Trapper) "Rawhide" and then your folks will put the Rawhide inside Tanning Tubs (also crafted by the Trapper) to tan into leather.

Not sure if I missed something, but for some reason I cannot make any leather with this mod enabled. The leather from the weaver requires skins or scaly skins and I do not where to make those, as the trapper does not have recipes for those objects. Any idea what I missed?

Thanks, Dani! I changed my local copy of the mod to something like what I suggested (10 minutes though, which is 10 seconds real time). It seems to me that the end result is the trapper gets the "I'm stinky" negative thought, but hearthlings aren't rolling around doing half a day or more hoping for an invasion to end it all because they smelled the tub. However, when close to the tub there's still an effect, giving you a reason to put it far from workshops and beds. If you are open to revisiting this mod 6 years later, I have more feedback. But, lengthy. Let me know a good way to provide it, if you want to consider making changes at all.

That's very valid, I didn't have many resources when I added it and did want something that lasted (because the stench of a tanning tub is something you "carry with you" for a while) but that's what I could pull off back then when I made it, I'll see if I can improve and make it less penalizing on the long run for the next version. Thank you for the feedback!

Opinion: The tanning tub is far too ruinous. I like that it stinks, but the debuff lasts for HOURS, and it reduces inspiration to 0%. So much for path of the makers. Might as well choose between making leather or letting anyone in the town make anything. It wouldn't be so bad if you could control where hearthlings go, but if someone wants to haul something by the tub, they cannot produce anything of high quality. The stench radius seems to be quite large, and it's not blocked by doors. I thought putting it underground behind 3 doors might reduce it, but that didn't work. The -50% willpower and curiosity are also hugely penalizing. IMO the dubuff should be changed to 5 minutes (i.e. only when within the radius), the penalties should be -10% inspiration and -15% willpower and curiosity, and the radius reduced to the same range that heat emanates from a stone brazier when using ACE.

This mod breaks my game. If I try to start Stonehearth with Trapper+ enabled then I will just get an infinite black screen when the music comes on. Disabling just this mod makes the game load fine. I am using only ACE, ACE Recommended and ACE Approved mods. I am also on Linux if that matters
