Anomaly 2 guide: How to better play on multiplayer (English version)

I wrote this guide because I see that new players have a problem in Anomaly 2 (A2) multiplayer. But in this guide you can’t find ‘how to hold the mouse’ or ‘where to click to win’ or even ‘how to build towers’ – for this is another instruments. This guide is prepared to people who want to play A2 in the multiplayer in higher level and they can test their skills in the strong fight. But more of that in a moment.

What you need to know

First what we expect from you:

1) Use all of available information on A2 multiplayer to learn, especially:
a) Single Player (especially Nightmare level)
b) Playable Multiplayer Tutorial (especially for the tower), even several times to learn how improve your ability to survive the waves and loose only some (little) of towers or how to faster destroy the enemy
c) Read descriptions of units, towers, what they have advantages or disadvantages (good describe in the guide: Anomaly 2 Unit Layout by Odin’s Path) in the tutorial (also well documented). You will not play well as you won’t know about what it does.
d) Read about the skills that you can use and what technology to choose, think about the best technology for your tactics and which ones you can skip for now.
e) And many other stuff available (for e.g. Demonstrations videos on youtube)

2) When you playing you must learn how to make decisions quickly and use all staff what you have at the moment for example: when you squad is attacked use regen to heal yours units but maybe it’s better use decoy (one or two) too, to distract enemy tower and other combinations.

3) When you playing towers always build Harvester and product something (for e.g. carusarum), playing units ride there where you can collect something (abilitys or carusarum). This games is fast so you must quickly acquire what you need and attack/defend. Sample screen of map to show where the best we should go.


4) Use unit or tower of the higher levels of technology (where it is needed, because on small map may not be unnecessary).

5) If you tactics doesn’t work, correct it or change to another (for example: playing squad you should quick start the game – fast choose technology and units, have already thought before game started. The longer you wait the better you opponent (tower) is armed. Or when you play tower when your opponent doesn’t attack, just go around the board and collect carusarum, produced points (in Harvester).


6) Learn to use the shortcut keys (1, 2, 3, 4) to use skills (no difference what side you are playing). You improves your reaction time and see what is going on in the game. Remember to use waves too (double click on tower) when you playing towers it's important to disable the enemy.

7) Remember nobody won’t learn how to play better if you doesn’t want to improve your ability yourself.


8) Don’t be discourage when you lose the game, just keep trying practice makes perfect. 

Practice makes perfect

And now the most important.

Nothing is so good as practice. Playing and testing to what we think we should be doing in the middle of game. Of course, as I wrote before you first need to know “what we eat” to select the best “tool” to your meal :-) For those who prove this initiative and will want to play and learn I managed a team of experienced players to help achieve higher rank. But in return we expect few things:

1) Read what is written above, use it and THEN play with us.

2) We are honest with you, you should honest with us. Do not waste our time when you won’t learn.


3) If we see that you don’t learn in the games or you won’t use ours advice in the game we won’t play with you (black list) ;> We won’t be ruled out but see second point of this rule.

4) When we tell you “go and train” you don’t ask us on next day ‘can we play’ but try practice (play with your friends, or auto mode, or in single player) and then try play with us (remember we will know, that you have been playing with e.g. irzykus and he told you to practice but you want to play with conar8. It doesn’t work that) :-)

Rules to help you

And now how it’s work:

Firstly: Buy the game :P Hehe But seriously Join to A2 group in Steam

Secondly: When we online send a message on Steam that you want to play in connection with this guide (do not try add us to your friends this is nonsense when we have a group of A2. And maybe when we play a few games we see that we have a lot of subject together and then we can add each other to friends :-) )

Thirdly: We can ask you few things such as have you end the game (in single player), have you played in multiplayer or end playable tutorial (we can check you achievement on Stem too). If we see there is nothing wrong we play with you. We play non ranked games on auto match (find an opponent), but only 2-3 match (unless they won’t be other player to teach). If we will be cheated and we will find this out, see point 3 of what we expect ;>

Fourthly: If we write to you that we can’t play at the moment or don’t have time do not insist. We play with you when we have a time. :-)

Fifthly: We limited the number of games with you to not overwhelming somebody with us (because we have another things to do :-) ). This limit is 5 games in each day, and this is not 5 games with one of you but all games of the day (e.g. 1 games with X, 2 games with Y, 2 games with Z). However it all depend on the “instructor”, when he wants to play more, nothing stands in the way :-)

It is not until now do I find that irzykus is one of the instructors. No wonder he plays so well.
