By Shitbag Actual
This guide is an designed to help Players new to Post Scriptum and those coming over from Squad alike.
The tactics used during WW2 are very different than what many people are used to.
Some of you may not need this guide but for those who do, I hope it helps you adjust to Post a little easier

Why this guide?
A lot of the people complaining about Post Scriptum's game play are clearly playing it like it is squad.
Post takes place 74 YEARS ago. A lot changed in between then and now.
So I decided to make this guide to help new players and players coming over from squad alike.
It can be daunting coming from squad after so long or coming from something like Battlefield and Call of Duty, but those are ALL different games and play different from Post Scriptum.
Stick With Your Squad & And How to Move up

Stick with your squad as best as you can, it can be difficult with how spawns work but try your best. A lone rifleman isn't going to be as effective as a squad of riflemen.

When moving up. Don't run in the open, You can get away with this more in Squad but you also have Semi-Automatic rifles in Squad. Follow the Hedgerows and ditches scattered along the map. Learn to use them to your advantage.
Gotta clear a building?
Frag it first, then swap to your side arm if you don't have an smg. Ideally you'd rush it with a bayonet as was the commen tactic in the time period but, currently Post doesn't have a melee option (Hopefully we see this change soon.)

Squad Leaders don't be afraid to utilize your Sten Gun, MP40 or STG 44. Unlike in squad you can not drop rallies for your squad to spawn on and you are equipped with something that can make the difference between taking a building or leaving the enemy entrenched
MEDIC!!!!
As a Medic, don't be afraid of getting that guy up. That is your main job. Post is a medic's wet dream, the morphine works REALLY quick, and you can move around a little while using it to make you slightly harder to hit. If the wounded man is in a hot spot, consider using smoke to conceal him and you from enemy fire. Your priorities should always be as follows.
Other Medics > Support Roles (MGs, LAT) > Squad Leaders > Everyone Else
Some might say you're even more important in Post than in Squad as normally your unit will have pushed a good distance from HABs and MSPs. Without Rallies like in squad, Medics are the only thing keeping men from having to hump it back to the point in many cases
Machine Gunners - GUN UP!!!
Machine gunners. Your job is to provide cover fire to keep the rest of your squad moving up.
Obviously engaging targets of opportunity along the way, but again your main job is to keep the other team's head down while your squad locates, closes with and destroy their position.

When engaging enemy in the open be smart about it. Don't fire the moment they break out of the hedgerows, wait till they are in the middle of that field, that way when they get that "OH ♥♥♥♥!" Moment of realizing they are under fire, they have more ground to cover when they move to safety.
Communication
One of the MOST important things in both Post and Squad is however COMMUNICATION.
Not everyone has a mic but if you do, TALK. If you see something say something. But be ready to repeat all call outs as sometimes comes get crazy, Squad Leaders are normally getting radio transmissions from command, other squads and their own squads, don't get upset if they don't respond right away

Still true in 1944 as it was in 2020 and even in 2024!

Yes, it is outdated. I haven't played PS in a while, and this was written when it first got out of beta.

Bayonets need a buff

To edit : the bit about bayonets is outdated (pistol shot remains better). Also has a spelling mistake (comment tactic > common tactic).

Anyone have anymore follow-up on being a better machine gunner? I find it difficult trying to find a good spot that has a clear view of where my guys are moving, that isn't out in the open for me to get one-shotted.

People have been screeching "GET TO THE OBJECTIVE" ever since voip became a thing in video games. There's still going to be tards who don't listen.

You misspelled "comms" in the last paragraph titled "Communication"

I love the Medic class and you're right, it is a Wet Dream. Excellent suggestion with the smoke grenade, and an Outstanding Guide soldier!
