By Lady Divine Fire and 1 collaborators
A concise guide for 1 way (searching for new ways if any) on how you bring your deck into Tabletop Simulator

For my friends and myself

Note: I am still new to Magic The Gathering.
However, this basic guide may be useful for those who started Tabletop or just want to keep this as a reference

One Deck to Rule Them All
-or maybe multiple decks! Who knows? You decide!

Decide to...
1. Build your own deck
or
2. Search for a deck

Where?
https://edhrec.com/
http://tappedout.net/

How to search?
For ""Commander" / "EDH" format[magic.wizards.com]
Here are things I typically look for and do when searching for a deck.

Look for...

Search Method
  • Search[tappedout.net]
  • Scroll down to "Commander (EDH)"
  • Type the name of commander chosen
  • Scroll down to the last filter "Ordering"
  • "Score (descending)"
Download / Export
Summary
Download .txt file via the deck you've chosen (From http://tappedout.net)

Example
This deck: "Avacyn, Angel of Boardwipes"[tappedout.net]

Steps
1. Vote up (Optional)
  • Optional, but some decks require a vote for you to add your deck into your own folder if you have an account and want to use folders
  • Green "Upvote" button, Left side, bottom of image

2. Download the deck
  • Scroll down a bit, left still
  • Click"Download / Export / Embed Code", white button (Sometimes the text is trimmed for smaller screens)
  • Top, center of window pop-up
  • Click "Export/Download", White, drop-down menu
  • Choose "Text (.txt)" (The ".txt" file should automatically download for you)

Tip: After download, "Open containing folder" gets you straight to the file without hassle
Convert to Tabletop Simulator
Summary
Convert the ".txt" (The deck you've downloaded) to ".json" (File type that Tabletop Simulator can read) via https://frogtown.me (Alternatives needed A.S.A.P.)

Where?
https://frogtown.me

How?
1. Get your deck ready
  • Open that downloaded ".txt" file (The deck you've chosen) with any text editor (Windows' default "Notepad", "Notepad++", etc)
  • Select everything in that file (Ctrl + A for fast selection)
  • Copy

2. Import your deck into the converter
  • Click "Bulk Add" (White button, bottom-center of page)
  • Paste into that white box, drop-down
  • Submit

3. Convert it!
  • Click "Export" (To the right of "Bulkl Add")
  • Click "Tabletop Simulator"
  • Wait for it to process (A loading, rotating icon appears, right)
  • "Save TTS Deck"
  • Rename that ".json" file to whatever you want. It will not interfere with anything

Tip: After download, "Open containing folder" gets you straight to the file without hassle
Import Then Spawn!
Summary
Move the ".json" file to "Saved Objects" folder and then spawn the deck in Tabletop Simulator.

Move it!
  • Copy / cut / drag that -renamed- ".json" file which is in whatever location you saved it to on your desktop
  • (Windows) Find Documents\My Games\Tabletop Simulator\Saves\Saved Objects
  • (Mac) Find ~/Library/Tabletop Simulator (Be sure that the
'Library" folder is not hidden. More read)

(Copy-paste the above underlined element into the folder address bar [Not the search!] or manually click the folders in the order separated by the slashes)

Prepare in 2 Ways!
1. "CREATE" > "SINGLEPLAYER"
Or
2. Join a friends' lobby (You need to be promoted in order to be able to spawn your deck)

Summon it!
  • Click "Objects" (Top-center-left-ish)
  • Click "Saved Objects" (4th choice)

Tip: Got an object you like? You can save that object and it'll be in "Saved Objects!"

Personally I prefer this:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2163084841

Does the majority of the work for you: just create an account at one of the supported deckbuilding sites (assuming you don't already have one). (pretty much every site that edhrec pulls from is supported.)
Upload & save your deck on the website.
Copy the url from your web browser to the text box on the importer, & hit the import button.

It can also import decklists (or just specific cards) using TTS's built in notepad.

don't forget beta.frogtown.me as it usually has the newer stuff available before the actual Frogtown site

Check out my tables to play MTG. 2 / 4 / 6 Player available!

I tried using the method a few minutes ago, using that exact mod, and got nothing but blank cards. I looked through the discussions and saw that people lowered their graphics, and things worked, but that was not my case. The tables, for the most part, load correctly, but every time I spawn my deck I just two stacks of white rectangles, no card backs, no images, nothing. How would I go about fixing this? Also I don't know if it helps any, but I am using Linux, but that shouldn't matter too much since there is a native Linux port.

How does one change the cardback on an imported deck, I've tried and it fucks the deck to high heavens.

I've written a program just for this https://github.com/grinnbearit/decker

I've also created a mod containing every preconstructed deck I could find
