Changing Language to German (or other)

To change the language of Thief (1 + 2) you will need the original CD with the language you prefer.

The easiest way to do it is to place BOOKS.CRF, INTRFACE.CRF, SND.CRF, STRINGS.CRF file from the German version (or the language you prefer) into the Thief\RES directory (steamapps\common\thief2\RES) and modify language string in DARKINST.CFG ( INSTALL.CFG for Thief 1) so it'll look like:

But it's much better to use a ZIP-archiver to add the german files from for example german SND.CRF to the one which is located in \RES subdirectory. Don't permit it to overwrite the existing files, so that only the ones which are located in 'german' subfolders would be copied. This operation will make your setup more mod-friendly. Do that with BOOKS.CRF, INTRFACE.CRF, STRINGS.CRF too.

Movie files which are located in MOVIES subfolder can be replaced with german ones right away without any other actions required.

When I use the german files from dropbox I have a few empty pages ingame. Most of the pages are in german but some are empty.
