Release date: Earlyish 2015
Energy Hook combines grappling-and-swinging-and-running-on-walls (a la Spider-Man 2) with stylish extreme sports action (a la Tony Hawk), by the guy who invented the swinging gameplay in Spider-Man 2.

Imagine a future in which the 'energy hook'—a tractor-beam device normally used in construction—is re-purposed by young athletes out for a thrill. Energy Hook becomes the extreme underground sport of the future—the players use their home-made energy hook gauntlets to swing through obstacle courses, competing in speed and style.

You'll be throwing yourself off buildings, catching yourself at the last moment, whipping around corners, running along walls, doing loops, and generally being crazy.

And did I mention you’ll have a jet-pack?

Please back it on Kickstarter! Please spread the word!

What the press (and Tim Schafer) are saying

'You'd have to be dead to the core to not be at least interested in giving that a go.' - John Walker; Rock, Paper, Shotgun

'Spider-Man 2 was one of my favorite games of the last generation, and the video on the Kickstarter looks amazingly fun. I'm not saying you should give him money, but I really think you should give him some money.' - Ben Kuchera; Penny-Arcade

'Bugger. There goes all my money.' - Daniel Hardcastle; NerdCubed

'I'd play that game for sure!' - Tim Schafer; President of Double Fine

'’s possible that the finished game will literally have our jaws on the floor while we swing around a city running up the side of buildings...' - Ian Fisher, ShogunGamer

'Have you ever been playing a Spider-Man game and thought to yourself 'Man, this game is great, but would be much better with JETPACKS.'? Well, your dreams have come true...' - Jake Weston, gamrReview

What the early players are saying

'It's super satisfying to nail successive swings.' - Chris Jurney, Supergiant Games

'The mechanics work. Beautifully. It's all the exhilaration I thought it would be ... Keyboard-mouse is beautiful. Tight, responsive, correct default controls.' - Vartul Srivastava

'I enjoyed the game enough to hunt down every virtual geocache in the final level, and to keep playing for quite some time beyond that.' - Alec Lofquist

'Even if it is PreAlpha, it is still fun enough to play for several hours ... I am really looking forward to seeing where you are going with the game!' - H1bbe

'The game's already excellent fun ... I've had a real blast playing it.' - Andrew Dinmore

Spiderman 2's swinging and a jetpack. I congratulate you on thinking of two things that are both odd to have in a modern game.

Check the announcements for progress! (Hey, I went indie so I wouldn't have to make ETA's.)

I love you, sharpnova.

Don't act all friendly with me.

I was flat out saying I was going to try to get you kicked off Greenlight. And passive aggressively stating that I thought this game was no longer in development.

Get mad, rude, or say nothing at all.

Thanks for the catch sharpnova. I'll post an announcement.

The fact that the release date shows Early 2014 makes me think this game is no longer in development.

How do you contact Steam to get a game removed their Greenlight listing?

Woah. I found this when looking for games that at least have a similar swinging mechanic to Spider-Man 2. I'm still playing Spider-Man 2 to this very day (though now emulated on my pc instead of my old ps2) and no other game has been able to even come close to touching those swing mechanics.
