Introduction
Downwell is a simple game about Welltaro, the name of the protagonist, a boy who falls into a well.

Controls are simple, A and D for movement and shift for an action. Shift will serve as jump, shoot, walljump, buy, interact, etc.

The objective is to traverse the 13 levels of the game without dying, easier said than done. Although this is the objective of the game, achivements are the main thing you want to get, since you can actually brag about these, and thus, we will focus in these throughout this guide. Because we want to brag about how amazing we are at this game.
Combo achivements
Combos are an esencial part of Downwell, to start a combo you just need to kill an enemy while in the air, easy. To continue a combo you must kill multiple enemies without touching the ground. To end a combo you just have to land.

The best way to continue a combo is to jump on white enemies, whenever you shoot you spend some charge, depends of which weapon you have equipped. For example, Machine Gun uses one charge per shot, but shotgun uses 4 charges per shot. To recharge your meter, you have to land, anywhere really, either actual floor or an enemy's head. Landing on an enemy's head will kill it and recharge your meter.

You see where I'm going to? The trick is to land in your enemy's head plumber style! The best weapon for this is the machine gun, and you probably want to use the floaty style too. These aren't needed but they make it easier

You'll inevitably get the "Wow combo" achivement, don't rush toward the end, bounce on some enemies beforehand and this achivement will be yours in no time!

"Whoa Combo" is basically the same, although you wont get it in a normal run, you see, you'll get rewarded when you carry your combo. The best reward, 1 hp, is rewarded at 25 combo. Thus you really don't need to get 30, so, just for this achivement get those extra 5 kills. Don't worry, you'll get the HP anyways.

"Sugoi Combo" is the biggest combo achivement you'll need to get, with a wopping 100 combo. This is not exacly hard under good equipment however, my personal strategy for this goes as follows:
  • Get equipment that will help you in this situation, these include: Heart Balloon, Gem Powered, Safety Jetpack, Machine Gun boots, Floaty style and Drone.
  • You should do this in the final level Limbo any difficulty, because in this level ground either doesn't exist, or it has spikes. As you remember, ground is the way you can end a combo, and it not existing or punishing you for touching it will help you get a higher combo, especially considering the high amounts of enemies and floating stuff that can recharge your gunboots
  • Take your time, yes you can activate an in-game timer that gives your runtime. It doesn't matter how high or low it is, take your time. Try and kill as many enemies as possible.
    Walktrough Achivements
You'll get these achivements just by completing the sets of three levels. There are four of these: Caves, Catacombs, Aquifer and Limbo .

By completing these levels you'll get their respective "Bye (enemy)" achivement. You'll also get the "So many (enemy)" achivement by completing it on Hard mode. A mode unlocked by completing the game for the first time

    They go as follows:
    Set's name
    Levels
    Achivement
    Hard Mode Equivelant
    Caves
    1-3
    Bye Frogs
    So many Frogs
    Catacombs
    4-6
    Bye Ghosts
    So many Ghosts
    Aquifer
    7-9
    Bye Squids
    So many Squids
    Limbo
    10-12
    Bye Stuff
    So much stuff
    Limbo
    Boss
    Bye Well
    Well Master
    "Complete without" Achivements
There are 5 of this kind of achivement: "Time never stops", "Mottainai", "Pacifist", "Ground Allergy" and "Careful Descent"

The best option for these achivements is to begin a new run and force yourself to not do that.

"Time never stops" is just avoid the side rooms. Which you probably already did since its a beginner mistake to go so fast you don't land on the side nor have enough time to react, stop and go to the room.

"Mottainai" isn't about lifting your finger from shift and going through the level. Pressing shift while in the ground is jump, not shoot. So take that in mind and avoid unnecesary damage.

"Pacifist" and "Careful descent" are pretty self-explanatory. Take your time and avoid enemies altogether, you could probably get these two together.

"Ground allergy" will most likely be the one that will cause you the most trouble since, y'know, ground is everywhere and accidentally landing will take this achivement from your hands. However, the deeper into the well you are, the less ground will get in your way. But enemies will increase in quantity, not to mention, ground inside side rooms totally count, despite them not counting against combos. So you choose, either an early level with ground that gets on your way, or a later level with enemies that get in your way.
    Gem Achivements
Gems are literally everywhere, enemies, side rooms, rocks, everywhere, this would make a gem collecting achivement very easy shouldn't it? Well actually yes. If you know your basics.

To earn the most amount of gems you'll need to investigate everywhere, kill everyone, destroy everything, but most importantly, being gem high. Gem high is a mode you enter when you obtain 100 gems in quick succesion. Do this and Welltaro will get a red trail, he will deal more damage and most importantly, get more gems. To stay in gem high you just need to pick up another gem before gem high ends. You can also get the "Gem Sick" power-upto extend the timer for Gem High if snatching gems in quick succesion isn't your thing.

Your biggest enemy in this achivement is the shop, in a normal run, if you're running low on HP or need some extra charge, you'd enter the shop and buy them. easy. But shops use gems, and you kind of need them, so you need to avoid them altogether. So, where do you get your HP and charges then? You do combos or find them along weapon pickups. So your overall run is going to be harder.

My overall gem count goes up by 500 per level, if we do the maths, that would mean that you need to complete level 6 to get the "Saving up" Achivement and to reach level 10 to get the "Frugality" Achivement without spending gems in shops may i remind you
    Conclusion
So, this game's achivements are pretty easy. Yet you have some tips for those which you might find hard.

At the end of the day you want to have some fun, and brag your achivements to your friends.

So have fun collecting these achivements.

@Konkertje69 It's just level, not the whole run.

The complete without section is a little bit unclear. Do I have to complete a whole run for these achievements or just one floor. I know that you can look this up in the achievements list but it will make your guide more clearly. Besides that it is a pretty nice guide.
