"New Steam Chat is out of beta now; and while the new UI has Online/Away/Invisible status options, several existing parts of the Steam UI still lists the old status options (Online/Away/Busy/Offline).

On the left side of this diagram, I show the "Friends" menu from the main Steam window, as well as the profile status dropdown menu from the top of the new Friends List window. Both of these chunks of UI use the new chat statuses.

On the right side of the diagram, I show the "Set Taskbar Preferences" settings window that can be accessed from Steam's settings via the "Interface" section. I imagine most people never really realized that this exists, but it allows you to alter which items will show up in the menu that comes up when you right-click Steam's icon in the system tray notification area, or its icon on the taskbar (and in this latter case, that menu is technically called a "Jump List"). The "Select online options to display" settings were never updated to match the new Online/Away/Invisible statuses, which means that the tray notification area icon menu and jump list still show the old-style Online/Away/Busy/Offline statuses.

I've only noticed and demonstrated this on Windows, but presumably a similar situation applies to the Steam client versions for Mac and Linux as well.
