The Sacrifice - Somachord Fragment Locations
Von SkySplitter
So, you're playing or replaying The Sacrifice cinematic quest for lulz and/or you want to snag those sick tunes played during the quest for your entertainment aboard your Liset. Well you're in luck! Here's my guide with screenshots on where the somachord fragments can be found(*) during the journey. I might also post a video if screenshots aren't enough.

(*) - So apparently there might be a chance that the somachord fragment doesn't spawn during the mission. I however found each somachord fragment during one replay on both main and alt. Set matchmaking setting to Solo and run quest missions back to back? I'm not sure what other advice I can give :/

What you will need...
  • Codex Scanner (I believe either regular or Simaris varient will work. Companions are not available during Mission #5 - Confront Umbra. So Helios won't be there to scan for you)
  • Loot Radar (Warframe Aura Mod)
  • Thief's Wit (Warframe Mod)
  • Animal Instinct (Companion Mod)

Mods are pretty much optional if the fragments spawn in the same location.
Mission #1 - Investigate Sentient Energy (Lith, Earth)
Your Creator - Fragment #1

After the surviving the Ghoul horde and the big gate opens, go inside and proceed to the courtyard.

Immediately to your right when you enter the courtyard, jump down and scan your first fragment for the Somachord Your Creator.
MIssion #2 - Explore Lua (Pavlov, Lua)
Your Creator - Fragment #2

Reach the room with the second terminal that needs to be hacked (that leads to the Umbra 53X dungeon).

The second and final fragment for the Somachord Your Creator will be located near the top on the right-hand side of the hallway you entered from (bullet jump upward so your loot radar can mark it on your map).
MIssion #3 - Search for Umbra (Nuovo, Ceres)
To Take Its Pain Away - Fragment #1

Your bae has commitment issues and has jumped ship... hunt him down. Keep moving until you reach the open area with the huge crane (the construction kind) in the distance.

Climb up said crane and claim your first fragment for the Somachord To Take Its Pain Away.
MIssion #4 - Pursue Umbra (Triton, Neptune)
To Take Its Pain Away - Fragment #2

Bae refuses to sit down and just talk, so keep at it. Reach the first room where you encounter Umbra.

Go left and bullet jump up to the runway above. Scan your second fragment for the Somachord To Take Its Pain Away.
MIssion #5 - Confront Umbra (Tycho, Lua)
To Take Its Pain Away - Fragment #3

Oh frabjous day! Bae is finally yours (forever and ever).

As soon as you gain control of Umbra, go right. The third and final fragment for the Somachord To Take Its Pain Away will be located in a run-down pathway.
MIssion #6 - Kick Back and Chillax (Personal Quarter, <insert username here> 's Liset)
You're done! You have your Bae. You have the Somachords Your Creator & To Take Its Pain Away loaded up on your ship ready for infinite replay.
...
No need to continue the quest or anything. Not like... you need to see your parent figure leave you (again)... *cries*

Notes from 2024:
It *does* seem to be true that the somachord tones won't always spawn. If you don't spot one in the listed locations, don't extract. Abort the mission and rerun until the thing spawns.

The locations of missions 1 and 2 are still accurate.

Mission 3 is where I learned that the somachord tones don't always spawn. If you rerun the mission until it does spawn, the location listed on the original post is still accurate. Someone else also mentioned it could spawn in the catwalk tileset, though I didn't find mine there so I'm not sure.

Flying Fox's comment about mission 4 is mostly accurate to how I found my somachord tone. I didn't drop under the floor but I did use a door underneath/by some stairs. Generally, if the somachord does spawn, it'll show up on your minimap (if you have Thief's Wit or something similar equipped) in some location underneath the floor as you make your way to extraction.

Mission 5 is still accurate.

Mission #4 if you need to find it on the reworked map, defeat Umbra, head towards the extraction point, and there's point where you can drop under the floor [blenderkitsune.files.wordpress.com], and that will lead to the somachord [blenderkitsune.files.wordpress.com]

Just a little update with the fragment on mission four (Triton,Neptune), if you are having difficulty finding it on the updated tileset, you can find it ~65m away from the extraction under the stairs (not the first set, but the second set set in the back area) , which is where i found mine! Hope this helps!

If you dont find a somachord in the listed positions on that mission, do yourself a favor and just abort the mission until it spawns. They are not guaranteed spawns. I am now on my 25th replay and gave up trying to get them to spawn as I ran through the missions. The unskippable cutscenes, albeit cool the first couple times, get rather tiresome.

Just did this on Xbox, all positions accurate to that update as of today. Additionally, some missions may contain multiple somachord fragments, but they seem to give the same progress, even if both are scanned.

Seems like the locations may have been randomised. I was looking for the somachords on my 3rd replay (sigh, hadn't managed to get them on any previous playthroughs) and got up to mission 3 and found the somachord in a different tileset (the one that has the catwalk down the middle, with I think 3 small rooms off to the side that I believe you have to jump to get to. Sorry for not getting a screenshot). ((However I may have scanned that somachord on a previous playthrough which could be why it showed up there))

I can confirm that the second one didn't spawn first attempt. Aborted mission, restarted, and it was there. apparently there's some bug they haven't patched yet, FYI.

I understand, just took a lot of effort to get up there on my part is all only to have the thing not be there. Well at one point I didn't find this one but on the next mission I found another part. I really don't know at this point, if I do go back to clear all this bs out I'll have to make a purpose build for killing those mimics.

@Hawk I mean, it can't be incorrect if other people have gotten it and I was able to take a screenshot of it. Per the previous discussions, have you collected the one from mission 1? It appears you need to collect them in order for the next one to spawn.
