New Korea-Cyberpunk Roleplay (A Guide)
Autorstwa: Spore: Galactic Adventures DLC
Hey! The server is coming back and we'd love to see you! https://discord.gg/AfKvAv5

An introductory guide into New Korea- a Cyberpunk world. This guide will cover the basics to normal roleplay, as we are now on a city once more. Our server takes inspiration from a number of older Cyberpunk servers and games, including Shadowrun: Returns.

Introduction
The year is 2044. You're whoever- a worker from some other country, a tourist looking to get a bit of the lifestyle. Maybe just some local mixed up in this whole mess, or a vagrant from the outskirts of the world. In any case, you've landed in New Korea. Congratulations, friend- you can now say that New Korea is your new home. New Korea is a country full of terrible, terrible things- drugs, murder, war, robotics- the usual for your Cyberpunk city. It is the progressive world capital, letting it's citizens be who they want- as long as they can pay.

(We are currently doing a very large event. The server is not in a city, rather, a MUCH smaller city far South-West of Seoul (Where the server usually takes place). It will be discussed further soon.

The Lore [World] (1)
New Korea is set on an Earth unfamiliar to us, one ravaged by technology and the need for industrial might. Around 2009, many African and Asian countries began to massively change- for the worse. The economies of the world’s superpowers were shifting, which called for the smaller countries to shift along with it. After the recession, many countries were hit extremely hard. Liberia, Taiwan, Chad- those and more were forced to create new countries and implement a terrible, terrible force. For years they worked, attempting to perfect industry and their economy. By the year 2020, Asia and Africa were practically wastelands. Areas were irradiated as various countries tried their hand at nuclear weapons testing. Large factories replaced forests, filthy housing units replaced once prosperous cities. The leaders of these countries prospered off of the suffering of their people, and they raked in billions upon billions of dollars. Many of them fled to places like the U.S. or Australia, leading their countries with the force of the military while they enjoyed themselves thousands of miles away.

Death counts in these countries were high, and they were hell. New technologies were constantly being made in those areas, though fairly crude and made for industrial use, such as Industrial Grade Exo-Suits and Augmentations. Depression and death rates were high in this area, and they were total and utter trash piles. If one did die of a disease or infection, they were sure to die of the harsh factory conditions. Many became "Indentured Servants", though in reality they were slaves. The government offered them housing, often times small and shared with up to four other families. In return, the person and their entire family would have to work in the factories until death. It was a better alternative then living on the streets, as crime was rampant, and families were often kidnapped, the parents murdered and the children sold off into human trafficking. Organ trafficking and limb trafficking were common in these areas, and it is not impossible that someone in Affliction may lack some organs or limbs from the trade.

Europe fared better, yet only slightly. The European continent soon merged into one collective country, the first super country. This happened around 2017, and it quickly turned sour. The country was divided into four sectors- North, West, East and South. The armies of the South attempted to conquer the North, causing the East and the West to turn on the South. The North, weak from the attack, was unable to help in defeating Southern armies. Once the East and the West cleaned up the South, they took the North. Soon after, Eastern leaders were paid off by wealthy African leaders to take control of the entire continent, which they did. It is worthy to note that the U.K. had long since seceded from the EU, and was now similar to that of a normal country. They weren't too technologically advanced and yet not too primitive, similar to what we see in present day 2018 (Real Life). They were able to pay off the East from taking their Island, and they formed an alliance with them. The alliance was useful as the U.K. had ties to the U.S. and Australia, the two power houses of the modern world.

The Eastern Europeans were greedy, and so they took Russia by storm. Putin had caught a mysterious sickness and subsequently died, and the strike began on his funeral, August eighth, 2019. The country was taken in hours, the country being weak from following their Asian neighbors and going the route of Industrialization. The leaders of New Europe decided that Russia would not be autonomous- oh no. It soon became the slave capital of the world, it's residents being sold off to the highest bidders, be they countries looking for free labor or rich men wanting to do God knows what to the unfortunate souls. The U.S. and Australia did not care for the region and so conditions only got worse as the years went on. New Europe forced the African and Asian countries to pay them trillions of dollars not to be invaded, though New Europe often would use their cities as practice targets for bombing runs.

The United States and Australia were not this bad, however. In 2015, once ♥♥♥♥ really started to get bad, The U.S. mounted their offensive. The U.K. dropped their ties with Canada after they began to endorse the communist revolutions within South America, which gave the U.S. the chance to annex them. The country was taken within three hours as the biggest ariel, land, and amphibious military assaults conducted by the United States army. All military personnel were either killed, sold off to foreign countries, or indited as members of the military for the U.S.. Canadian life soon turned better as the Americans took over, as the Canadian government had begun to work on Industrialization. Many Northern parts of the country had huge factories and Industrial Cities already full of people. The U.S. happily took this area under country though they did so in secret. Canada, at the time, owned Greenland and Antarctica due to trades made in 2014 with Russia, the previous owners of those places. Antarctica was left untouched, though Greenland was turned into a place of research. The U.S. economy boomed, and their military strength tripled. They abandoned their space program and began to research many new technologies, landing them hundreds of years ahead of other countries.

The U.S. decided to share their advancements with Australia, America's best ally and trading partner at the time. Australia soon become a technological center of advancement, creating some of the best technologies to date. The U.S. and Australia formed the "Amrelia" alliance, and, together, became the two most powerful countries in the world. In 2016, the two countries conducted and eight month long invasion of South America, the countries of which had a massive Communist revolution. The countries were already in ruin and had attempted, yet failed, to implement Industrialization. Many South Americans would rather die then let their countries be taken, and this caused many major South American cities to be nuked by their leaders in fear of being forced into labor. It was also around this time a small American task force assisted U.K. troops of annexing Ireland. The continents borders were split in half, with the U.S. getting the top portion and Australia the bottom portion. The U.S. also took Central America and Mexico, which had become worse then ever. The populations were simply sold off to slavery and massive rigs to harvest raw minerals and oil from Mexico down through Central America. In the end of 2016, Australia decided to annex all surrounding countries. New Zealand surrendered and joined Australia under the flag, while the other surrounding nations were forced into the country. The Caribbean Islands were now controlled by the U.K., given as a gift by the U.S. along with the assistance in taking Ireland.

The U.S. and Australia become Utopias of technology, with the rich getting the best life had to offer. Those who could not afford it still made decent livings, though the poorest were often cleansed by police. Cleansing happened every night, and people would be kidnapped off of the streets or out of their homes. They would be forced into slavery, harvested for organs, or experimented on. Many had their brains harvested for Cybernetic experimentation. In early 2018, the U.S. kickstarted their Space Exploration program once more, quickly taking control of The Moon and Mars. An alien presence was discovered on The Moon, and a very public display of executions were shown globally of the alien scum. The U.S. advanced even further, selling some of the lesser technologies to African and Asian countries, like pulse technology. A massive mining outpost was set up on The Moon, and a very large military base was created on Mars.
The Lore [World] (2)
Around this time, China invaded North and South Korea, literally killing all who lived in those countries and reanimating their corpses to use as zombiefied soldiers. Australia was quick to put an end this however, and they took the Korean Peninsula under their control. They gave it to Japan, who were greedy to Industrialize it, as they suffered from heavy over population and dirty streets. Predictions were right- the populace of Japan were replaced with robots, though they were given a second chance at life on the Korean Peninsula.

The Earth year is now 2044. New Europe has begun to build massive underground cities, leaving many of the above ground cities to become Industrialized. Civilized people live underground, while the poor and disabled work to death on the surface. Pollution on the planet is horrible, though the U.S. and Australia have managed to keep the population all centered within Africa and Asia. Russia is now more akin to a desert then a horrible frosted area like it once was. People are forced to work for hours on end without pay until they are sold, where they are destined to terrible fates. Americans and Australians live the high life, with extremely low poverty rates and the most joy they've had in forever. Virtual Reality has become a large market, and many games have players unknowingly controlling actual robots, murdering innocents in the poorer countries purely for fun. The server is set in New Korea, the Cyberpunk capital of the world. The way you live is up to you.
The City of Seoul

The Chinese invasion of the peninsula some years ago left it, for better or for worse, lifeless. The only strands of life left were those hiding in bombed out houses or shelters. That all changed when the Japanese came in. The Chinese had their fun killing the Koreans- burning them alive, rape, mutilation- the Chinese had some sick, twisted fetishes. The Japanese were eventually given control of the Peninsula by the Chinese- a sign of friendship. The Japanese wasted no time repairing the most major of cities first- Pyongyang, Seoul, Busan- all of those cities and more were revamped within two years. This feat was achievable due to Japans massive arsenal of robots and slaves- a good touch to the work force.

By 2030, the Korean Peninsula was the Asian utopia for technology. It was around this time Korea Co. was created. Korea Co. was, and still is, the "government" force of the Korean peninsula. These Koreans were loyal to the Japanese and we're then put into a heavily monitored Company that controlled the Korean peninsula. If anything, Korea Co. is a puppet government- a lot of their changes are never pushed and it's mainly a board of former politicians kept prisoner. From time to time, ministers are sent by Korea Co. to a number of cities within New Korea, though terrorist attacks by Korean Nationalists are frequent, as many believe the members of Korea Co. are not real Koreans and are Japanese slaves.

The year is now 2044. Seoul is a worldwide hotspot- offering opportunities to work, make your own company, live your life. Seoul is the only place in the world where combat augmentations are publicly legal, and where the police force-enforcers- are such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's a one of a kind place, and it isn't uncommon to see the rich and powerful followed by a lot of security laughing at the misfortune of the poor living in the city. It is up to you to live your life here- do you go down the path of crime, or do you live a righteous life? The choice is yours.
Your Character
New Korea is located in Seoul, and the country itself is owned by Japan. It is more then likely that your character will be of some Asian descent. Whether your character is Japanese, Korean, Chinese- they should be of some sort of Asian descent. This is not to say your character can't be of another nationality, of course not. This is a Cyberpunk server- you're free to play who you want! You are, simply, nudged in the direction of making an Asian character.

Farther then simply creating your character, what is your backstory? Are you a mechanic looking for work in some back alley augment shop? Maybe you're a struggling doctor looking to make ends meet? Or, hey, maybe you're some abused South Korean looking for their big break- so they turn to a life of crime. There is an "infinite" amount of possibilities for your character. As said before, there's a lot you can do- from my suggestions to your own. The only thing holding you back is your creativty.

Factions: An Overview
New Korea is a country full of faces. Whether those faces are human or robotic, well, you'll just need to find out. Below will be all the current factions explained, and hopefully they will give you an incentive to play.

Ponks
Ponks. Your average citizen of New Korea, the default faction. Whether your Ponk is from Japan, a Korean native, a foreigner- anywhere- is up to you. Your character most likely has come here for work or the cheap living conditions the cities of New Korea offer. You arrived in Seoul at some time, that is up to you. Now, however, you are displaced along with hundreds of thousands of people. The invading Chinese force has pushed the line back- they have practically secured all of old North Korea, leaving only parts of the Southern portion to be invaded. As a Ponk, your goal is simple- live, and make money. There are a number of features on the server to help you do this- jobs, weaponry, combat, masks, armor- the list goes on. The criminal underbelly is not the only path for your character, however. Maybe you want to open up a shop? Own a bar? Sell androids, or, hell, even repair robots AND androids? Well, you are free to do so. With some OOC authorization and a little bit of knowledge you are free to whatever you please. That's right, you're not being held back. Do you wanna be a Martial Arts master? Well, by all means, please do. Wanna be an AWOL solider on the run? Well, that one is fine, too.

We wish for our players to have freedom to play our server how they want, when they want. You can be a criminal, starting up some sort of Mafia, extorting local businesses. Or, you could work your way up, purchasing androids to create some sort of country-wide service. The city life is, however, not where we are. The invading Chinese forces have, again, pushed the citizens of Seoul back.

Enforcers
The 'Peace-Keepers' in this terrible, technology driven world. Enforcers come from all over- some may be mercs for hire. Actually, most are- studies show that 54% of Enforcers on the Korean Peninsula have shown tendencies to be corrupt. If you have not gotten the drift, Enforcers are encouraged to be corrupt- it makes things fun! They are similar to Ponks- they do what they want to do. Sure, they have a rulebook they need to follow- though who reads these days?

The Enforcers are underfunded, undermanned, and are generally pretty big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's up to them to make their money. Whether that is taking it themselves or waiting for their Digi-Check in their Cyber-E.M.A.I.L. BOX? Well, that's up to them. Most Enforcers are people looking for some money- it pays decent enough, and they get to bully people, so why the ♥♥♥♥ not? As an Enforcer, you are a bit more restricted then a Ponk is, though a whole new avenue of roleplay is opened up for you. Do you arrest the man who just mugged some poor guy in an alley, or do you take his plunder? Do you give someone their ration or keep it for yourself?

Androids
Androids are modern day slaves. They are created, shipped off to a store, and sold. A rather mundane whitelist really- you may not flag onto an Android until you have been purchased... an iffy subject. But, hey, maybe slave labour isn't your thing? Maybe you have some weird fetish for Detroit: Become Human? Well, say no more- I have you covered.

Now, now, this isn't really Detroit: Become Human, no deviants here. But free roaming Androids do exist. Whether they are security bots, Androids sent out by companies to do some advertising, or something else entirely. They exist, though are rarer to see. Wanna be a Free-Roaming android? Specify it in your application.

Service Bots
Service Bots, robots created with a wide array of tools to serve the needs of the citizens of New Korea. Service Bots are... experimental, to say the least. Some have a tendency to beat themselves until they die, and some even have the incentive to become backstage comedians- that never ends well. Service Bots are what they sound like- robots that serve the citizens of the New Korean Peninsula. Whether they are medical bots, social bots- whatever they are, they will serve.

Service Bots have WAY more freedom then Androids do. They are not purchased, rather, sent off by the city to serve the populace. They have personality, and are, basically, Ponks- but robots.

Custom Features?
The schema is full of custom features. To begin, we run on NUTscript- a serious roleplaying framework. We have the afformentioned factions (and more, though I have not shown them), and much more. Actual augmentation items, Exosuits, a LOT of custom food, languages, a custom UI, Nutscript's inventory system, weather- and much, much more. We also use a custom combat system (Based off of 5Y5M's) and it will be discussed in another topic. I really can't show many of the featuers- you'll just need to see for yourself.

Special "Job" Events?
We offer IC jobs to players. One could sign up on the 'Merc Database' on our forums, opening themselves up to taking these jobs. Players will be thrust into a number of positions- doing a hit, destroying someones bar, home invasion- anything for some cash. These 'Job Events' offer the players that take them a special roleplaying experience. They take them 'around the world', offering insights on lore, new features, and much more. We have currently only done one job, though it was a smashing sucess. I will include screenshots below;

Weaponry
The server features a wide variety of weaponry. Whether it's a simple knife or a laser launcher, your needs can be met. I am currently working on a crafting system to allow certain types of weapons to be more widespread. Now, what if you can't afford a pistol? Well, no worries! The server features makeshift weaponry, allowing players not as well off to still be able to get their hands onto something nice. From melee weapons to shotguns to snipers, we have it all. It's up to you what weapon you wish to use.

Combat [1]
Our combat is something many players will need to get used to. While we do use S2K/S2M (Shoot to kill/Shoot to miss), we have a custom combat system implemented for users to roleplay with. It is based off of attributes, items, RNG and skill. I will post the explanation below-

/reflexes : Used at the beginning of the fight to determine turn order.

/dodge : Determines if an attack is dodged, or if the projectile fired at you will miss. Can also be used to avoid /grapple. Uses agility.

/block : Determines if an attack is blocked. Cannot be used against bullets. If a thrown object is blocked, it cannot be reflected. Mostly uses strength, uses some accuracy.

/parry : Determines if an attack is blocked, and allows for a counterattack. Cannot be used against bullets. If a thrown object is blocked, it can be reflected. IF /parry succeeds against a /melee, attacker must roll /dodge against previous /parry roll. If the same /parry roll wins again, a counterattack occurs. If the /dodge succeeds, the attack is only blocked and the counterattack misses. Can only counterattack with melee attacks ICly. If a /throw is parried successfully, roll /throw and use the previous /parry roll and the new /throw part, send attack towards any enemy in reasonable range. Target can /block or /dodge, but cannot /parry. Uses agility, strength, and accuracy in equal parts.

/defend : Determines if an ally is defended. Allows you to defend an ally in combat. Can only be done if you are close to them. /defend is rolled during your turn. If an enemy attacks the one you are defending, they must roll /dodge to avoid your counterattack. If they are hit by your /defend roll, they cannot attack this turn. Melee attacks are used for defense ICly. Attackers can use /block or /parry here, but they cannot attack their original target if they do so. (You cannot defend by shooting, but you can melee with your firearm.) If the one you are defending is attacked multiple times, only the first attack will be defended against. Uses agility, strength, and accuracy in equal parts.

/throw : Determines if a thrown object hits its target. Rolled against /dodge, /block, or /defend. If the object has a sharp edge, like a knife, it will only cut if the /throw roll is at least 2 higher than the reaction roll (/dodge, /block, /parry, etc.)

/firearms : Determines if and where your weapon's single shot will hit. Rolled against /dodge. Chooses a random body part to hit. Mostly uses accuracy, uses a little strength.

/firearmsaimed : Determines if an aimed shot will hit. Rolled against dodge. Requires two turns to complete, first turn to aim, second turn to fire. Allows for player to decide what body part to target. Bullets cannot be blocked by melee weapons. Mostly uses accuracy, uses a little strength.

/firearmsburst : Fires three shots with decreasing accuracy, can only be used with automatic weapons or burst fire weapons (not semi automatic.) Accuracy decreases based on your strength (Higher strength = less reduction.)

/firearmsburstaimed : Same as /firearmsaimed, but for burst.

/akimbo : Used when dual wielding pistols. Multiple targets can be chosen. Has an aim penalty. Uses accuracy and strength.

/suppress : Determines if an enemy is hit by suppressing fire. A player rolls suppression against an enemy in cover. If the enemy attempts to use a weapon or move into the open, it will have to /dodge to avoid being hit. /dodge is rolled against the /suppress roll. Can only suppress one target at a time unless all parties agree otherwise in a case where it would make sense. If that is the case, suppression is only rolled once, and every /dodge is compared to that roll. Mostly uses strength and some accuracy.

/execute : Used in point blank firearm conditions where target has a low chance of avoiding the hit. Double a normal firearms aimed. If this roll fails, it is assumed that the target has diverted the aim of the executioner, if that is impossible (They are unconscious, lack movement capabilities, etc.), then you shouldn't be using this roll.

/quickdraw : Used to draw your weapon and fire it in the same turn. Can only be used with SMGs and Pistols. Has a roll penalty (30%). Uses accuracy and agility.

/melee : For melee attacks, mostly uses strength with a little bit of accuracy. Mostly uses strength, uses some accuracy.

/flail : For melee attacks, uses a luck roll instead of accuracy. Not the smartest thing to use.

/grapple : Used to grab a target, preventing them from escaping unless they use their turn to try and break free (/grapple vs /grapple). After a successful grapple, the next successful melee attack on an opponent will be stronger, (+5). Bonus applies to those other than grappler (Allies.) Mostly uses strength, uses a little accuracy.

/sneak : Used for sneaking by a target, or for sneak attacks. Rolled against /perception. If /sneak is successful for a sneak attack, a /melee(+2) or a /firearmsaimed will be used for an attack. Uses agility.

/perception : Used to detect sneaking targets. If successful, detector is alerted and can act accordingly. If combat is initiated, regular reflex rolls are used. Uses perception.

/flee : Used to attempt to leave combat. Rolled against any reasonable roll that could stop you, /firearms, /melee, /grapple, etc. If the /flee roll fails against any rolls, /flee is cancelled. If /flee is not
stopped, player can exit combat, but cannot disconnect or character swap for at least half an hour, unless otherwise agreed upon by involved parties.

/fortitude : Used to roll resistance against mental and hallucination based effects like ongoing hallucinogens, hallucination based attacks, etc.

/endure : Used to roll resistance against physical effects like flashbangs, tear gas, fire, poison, etc. See: spite.boards.net/thread/684/status-effects

/scavenge : Used to determine what your loot is when scavenging something. Can only be used with admin oversight and assistance, admin determines loot reward based off of what is being scavenged, and what the
scavenge roll is. Can only scavenge the same spot once per day per person. Uses luck, and lots of RNG.

Combat is done in a number of easy steps.

1. Both Player 1 and Player 2 type /reflexes.

2. Whoever had the higher /reflexes roll may now take the first turn.

3. The player now has 2 action points. A player can use them to move twice (dash), move and attack, just attack, or for other things depending on the circumstances.

4. The attacked opponent rolls a single reaction roll (/dodge, /melee, /block, /parry, etc.)

5. If the attacker rolls higher than the defender then the action succeeds, otherwise the defender successfully dodges/blocks the attack.

6. The defender types their reaction to attack, and their action. They go to step 3 and the cycle repeats.

Rules of Combat

If in cover, the bullet hits the cover in front of the target limb, whether or not it pierces cover is between the two RPers.

If a player is not attacking on their turn, they may make two movements.

Shooting from cover still requires that you assume proper firing posture, so most cover (Leaning out from a wall, firing overtop of a barricade) will only protect the lower abdomen and below.

P2L with injuries. You are not Robocop, so stop that.

Injuries are determined by those they are dealt to, not the attacker.

When you see someone roll for reflexes, drop what you are doing and roll for reflexes, then look to the chat to see what the turn order is.

You must use one action to unholster a weapon. This means that you can move or attack after unholstering it provided that the distance is not too great.

If all parties agree on a bonus/penalty to a roll or to roll for different stats entirely it is permitted. If any party says no, then it is resolved by the default rules.

If you kill someone, do not shoot them with your weapon until they’ve given the OK.
Combat [2]
If you are not in the combat when it begins, you are subject to timescale, and to join that combat you may have to wait several turns before being given a turn. Typically you are put at the end of the turn order. Turn delay is determined by how many turns have gone by in the combat. Every two turns is a one turn delay for incoming participants. Once combat is over, you cannot immediately jump onto the survivors due to timescale, you must wait at least thirty minutes before pursuing.

Once combat has started, your movements are limited to your turns.
The two props used for movement measurement are models/hunter/blocks/cube025x4x025.mdl (Movement Distance) and models/hunter/blocks/cube025x8x025.mdl (Dash Distance)
You may move the full movement distance (Small prop) in addition to any actions on your turn, or forego your action to move the dash distance (Large prop).

Different effects do different things, please see: spite.boards.net/thread/684/status-effects.

If you get hit by something that should reasonably cause an effect, please RP accordingly. For example, a severe head blow may stun you for a turn. If your arms are broken, your melee attacks may be hampered, etc.

(The system normally stops most arguments, and it's really up to what you put into your characters attributes, your weapon, your body, and your skill.)
Videos?
I, along with several players, have recorded a number of videos for you to watch. These show combat between a Mech, and two seperate groups of Crossed (a playable faction introduced with our new event). Do note, however, this is not ALL the server offers- this is only the more action based side.

(Do note- the visuals on the schema are a mixture of optional effects located in Nutscript and the weather system. The schema does not look like this at default.)

Do I, as an owner, roleplay?
To make the answer short and sweet- somewhat. I do not play long running characters nor do I get attached to them. Unlike many other server owners, I have no intent of creating extremely cringeworthy, immortal characters. I have no enjoyment out of roleplay, and I'd rather create a platform, this schema, for people to enjoy rather then roleplay.
Did you create the schema?
Yes, I did. I obviously have used some plugins, though I did create a LOT of what you will see on the server.
