Hot Tips for Overlord 2
By Enlightened Prophylactics
Stuck on Overlord 2? Need more Lifeforce? Running low on Gold? Perhaps can't figure out how to get past the King Salamander fight? This game is rather sh!tty at explaining certain things, leading to potential Overlords needing to use Google to find certain information. Instead, use this guide, where I've gathered all the information I had to Google through my recent runthrough of this game. Some spoilers are impossible to avoid, but I've done my best to keep things as un-spoilery as possible.

Game Start Up
-Trying to start the game, and done all the normal troubleshooting steps, but it keeps crashing after using the launcher? Make sure you are using a normal resolution and refresh rate that your monitor/tv actually runs at. The game will refuse to launch if it doesn't match up.
City Control
-You cannot completely destroy or dominate a city when you first unlock the quest to do so. For Nordburg, you have to wait until you unlock all 4 minion types. For Everlight, wait for the Elven Rebellion quest, after the Salamander section.

-Missing 1 or 2 last citizens on dominating a city? Make sure you've entered every available building, and try firing Evil Presence into every crowd in the game. Dominated citizens will ignore the spell, while free citizens will scream and flail, making them easier to spot.

-Nordburg is a great place to make sure all of your minions are armed, if you are doing a domination runthrough: Get a full squad of a single minion type, so that your reinforcements are armed, then run a cycle through each of the blacksmithing areas. I found 2 times through often ended up with every minion fully armed from nothing. Doing so with each type of minion should net you a nearly maxed out combat potential percentage, for whatever point in the game you are at. Smiths even have a slight chance of creating arms and armor that are rare drops off of enemies where you are at in the story.
Resource Collection
Need Lifeforce?
-After the assault on Nordburg, back behind the town hall is an area that was blocked off during the fight. On a domination run through, near the lake, a patch of ground with spawning seals will become available, giving you a healthy collection or Red and (less frequently) Brown Lifeforce.

-After beating The Everlight Facility, the Gnome Spawners remain intact. Bringing 5 reds and a bunch of Brown minions, you can find an easy to access spawner just inside the front door, and to the left. Park the 5 Red minions on a banner on the button, stand in the open doorway beside it, point at the break in the fence across the way, you will have as many gnomes as you need, which drop infinite Green and Red Lifeforce at a good speed, as well as Pink Gems that are used in crafting

-After the assault on Everlight City, numerous open bars can be run by dominated citizens. They spray out booze, leveled arms and armor for your minions, and all available Lifeforce types. I suggest the large bar in the northwestern corner of the city, where you can send minions around behind the bar, as well as up it, to get a steady supply of all flavors of Lifeforce

-After finishing The Final Sanctuary, all of the gnome holes should respawn. While more active than the 3 options above, you can slay all the gnomes, then leave and return to the area, to get a lot of Lifeforce

Need Gold?
-On a domination runthrough, after the assault of Nordburg, the city has a pile of chests that spawn next to the gate inside of the city, which can make for quick cash. The same can be said of Everlight City, as well as Everlight Temple. A rotation through the 3 can net you several thousand gold every time, and takes almost no time at all. On a destruction playthrough, the gold in the Everlight Temple should still exist, and still respawn every time you enter the zone.

Need Pink Gems?
-As stated above, the Everlight Facility is an endless source of Pink Gems.

Need a LOT of Lifeforce?
-If you are using the right type of controller (like a DS4 connected through DS4Windows), if you unplug the controller while holding a button, it will continue to act as if the button is connected until you plug it back in. So, if you're situated some place where you need your minions to farm, hold the button for sending them forward (R2 on DS4) then unplug the controller, it should continue sending them to kill gnomes and collect whatever resource they are stationed next to.

=Note that Minions on a banner will NOT collect resources on the ground and bring it back to you. So when using the Gnome Spawner, do not just use a banner. You will lose most of the resources you are trying to gather.
Weapons and Armor
Many of the weapons choices in the Forge are rather extraneous, leading to the wholesale wasting of the limited Crystalized Evil. My personal suggestions are as follows:

-The Evil Eye is ESSENTIAL to the farming of Lifeforce, as it doubles all gathered Lifeforce. This should be constructed ASAP!

-The Infernal Commander increases your Horde Size by 5, making it the only way to control 50 minions at once. While this may sound important, I found 45 to be more than enough, often cluttering the battlefield.

-Both Elemental Armor and Infernal Armor are just improvements, adding to your health with no drawbacks. They should be crafted when possible:

=I would suggest crafting the Elemental Armor when you get the resources, as it increases Poison Resistance, which quickly becomes incredibly useful.

=The Infernal Armor should be crafted as soon as you have enough Blue Lifeforce, leaving the area you are in the second you have it. When getting the Blues, the game throws the Blue Lifeforce at you, en masse, so wasting it is not an issue, and that is one of the only parts of the game where you are forced into fights without your minions, and that extra health will be a godsend!

-The Smooth Slicer is one of the first weapons you can craft, and is the best you can craft at that time. Ignore The Executioner and The Mad Batter.

-The Scorcher is your first fire weapon, which isn't as good as it sounds. However, when you receive the ability to craft this weapon, you begin facing enemies which are the weakest against Fire, so this should be crafted as an upgrade from The Smooth Slicer.

-The Reaper is VERY important during the collecting of the Blue Minions, as it gives you some healing potential, which domination Overlords lack.

-The Apocalyptor is the best weapon in the game. Craft it whenever you can.
Quests
-Ladies Man: When you're in the Personal Quarters, you are forced to choose one of your mistresses as First Mistress. When you purchase all available items for your Netherworld Spire, you are treated to a small cutscene of you and the Mistress making whoopee. To unlock the achievement, "Ladies Man", you must select each mistress, and purchase 2 of the items for personalizing the tower for each Mistress, as well as use the Overlord Banners.

-Kill a Thousand Gnomes: The farming technique mentioned above for Everlight Facility is, by far, the easiest way to complete this quest.

-Everlight Rebellion (Domination): Having a hard time doing this quest on a domination run-through, as your minions keep killing citizens? I would suggest bringing as few minions as possible on this mission, say 5 or so browns for moving the bombs, and 1 green for the Spider mount. What you are supposed to do is use the grab-and-run mechanic from the Queen Spider mission to grab the bombs, and bring them to the rock barriers. I suggest holding your minions back on a banner, far away from the fight, and walking a single Brown to pick up the bombs, placing it at a barrier, then running away. Avoid having them with you during this mission, as they may attack random bomb-throwing citizens, which count towards your Domination/Destruction of Everlight. If you're stuck on the very last part, where the throwers are not accessible, there are webs behind them that the Spiders can get onto to. They can reach the last bomb throwers from there. I would suggest leaving the city once the mission is done, and not trying to dominate them until you reload the zone. They are all marked as Enemies, and Minions will attack them, until you reload the zone.
Stuck?
Queen Spider: Gnarl is especially useless here. What you need to do is target one of the flowers, and, while holding the target button down, run the minion holding the flower over to one of the water fountains on the wall. This will cause the Spider Queen to run to the flower. While she is over one of the waterspouts, hit the button in the middle of the stage, and she shall fall down, allowing you to attack. This grab-and-run mechanic appears quite frequently in the rest of the game, from this point forward. though it is introduced here like you should already understand it, so perhaps there is a tutorial for this mechanic that was supposed to be before this section.

Everlight Temple: On the third Spider Run, the 3rd button cannot be hit by directly running at it, as there is a nearly invisible barrier in the way, that looks like background clutter. You must go around to hit it.

King Salamander: Stuck where he is rolling back and forth between two ramps, trapping you between his fire trails and spawning salamanders? He jumps over water, using a small ramp. If you send your Blues down a set of stairs nearby, the ramp itself can be attacked, causing him to fall in, once more. It may not look like it can be attacked, but drag your blues over to it, and they will begin to attack it.

Final Stage of Final Boss: Having a hard time targeting the Head Node? Leave some of your Reds on the balcony you start that stage of the fight on using a banner. They will automatically attack the Head Nodule during that short window, and should destroy it quickly.
Acknowledgements
So that I am hopefully not sued: Overlord 2 and all it's stuff belong to Triumph Studios I think, as does the image I was forced to use to make this guide. I own nothing about the game except a copy.
