Introduction
Dead Effect 2 is nowhere near as hard as Dead Effect 1. In Dead Effect 1 you need to correct weapons to beat the game. In Dead Effect 2 it is much easier and doesn’t require certain weapons to beat the game. You can’t play Dead Effect 2 like a modern military shooters. You have to play Dead Effect 2 like the old FPS games ie, Quake and Doom which I will explain later.
Skills
It pretty easy to figure out which skills are the best. In general all passive abilities should be taken.

Any game that give Slow Motion skill is abusive and should upgrade to the max if allow.

The best skill in the game by far for every class is Bullet Time. Upgrade it to the max.

For Class Abilities Storm is the best skill for the Gunner Class. Storm give you a renewable grenade. Upgrade it to the Max.

All the skills in the Weapon and General Ability should be taken because they are all passive.

Ammo Carry should be max out.

Pyroman Should be max out.

Class ability cooldown should be max out.

Special ability cooldown should be max out.

Explorer should be max out.

Gears
Armor and implants that give energy, energy regeneration, and health should taken over others. Health being the most important of the three. Try to buy the latest armor if possible. Implants are less important but still good to keep them uptodate.
Weapons
All the weapons are good enough for you to beat the game with. I went with Shotgun and Assault Rifle as primary. Pistol and Revolver as Secondary.

In the early game I alternated between Assault Rifle and Shotgun. In the middle I went with the total upgrade Assault Rifle provided to me in mission 11 Teleported Cyborg. It is good enough for the mid game levels. Late levels I bought the Mythic Hydra 2CL shotgun and upgrade to max damage and magazine size. At max damage the Hydra could do over 40k damage making the end boss fight pretty easy.

Don’t discount the Teslabolt. While I didn’t upgrade it it is useful in boss or hard fights. The default damage is very good.
Tactics
You can’t play Dead Effect like a modern shooter. Cover and shooting doesn’t work because the enemies that shoot back have very good accuracy. Only use cover to reload your weapons.

You have to play it like the old school FPS games. Against enemies that shoot back you have to strafe them. If you don’t know what strafing is I posted a link to wikipedia below for you to read.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strafing_(gaming)

The best solution to fighting soldiers and bosses is hit bullet time, get into point blank range, and strafe the target (headshots for extra damage). Repeat until all is dead. For fighting soldiers bullet time is not require but use it if you have it. In boss fight bullet time is needed to migrate the damage. It took me 6 bullet time cycle to beat the last boss in the game. Two of bullet times cycle were wasted because he put his shield up.
General Tips
Buy a lot health packs. Keep at least 10 on hand.

Buy ammo packs.

Use Storm and Grenades against large groups and boss fights.

Use covers to reload weapons.

Upgrade Weapons damage and magazine size first.

Get Headshot if possible.

If zombies push you back into a corner, you can sprint pass zombies to a better location.

Zombies are slows so mobility is the key.

Always keep your health up in boss fights. A series of AOE hits can kill you instantly if not at full or near full health.

When your bullet time is on cooldown while fighting a boss. Hide behind some cover. Reload your weapons. Once bullet time is up again go on the offensive.

Use Teslabolt at the beginning of the attack or when you empty your primary weapon fighting a boss. The extra damage does help.

Use Sprint to close the distance when using bullet time.

Sell unused gears and weapons.
