Starting out
In order to form Gran Colombia, you must know that only 3 nations can do it:
Columbia, Venezuela and Ecuador.
It is recomended that you use Colombia though. Now, what you must do is have all of the regions that have Gran-Columbia cores under your control, but it's no easy task. You;ll have to wait at moments due to the imfamy it takes to take a state from a country. The easist way is to just have them sphered, but it's recomended you try to annex at least Ecuador and then, if you reach great power statice, sphere Venezuela.

The 1st target you should pick on is Ecuador. They are not very favored in the region, especaly Peru. Make sure you grab the region where Peru has cores on 1st, otherwise you'll have to fight Peru later in the future for them. As soon as your infamy level reaches new lows (2.50ish) you can finaly annex Ecuador. Your 1 step closer to forming Bolivar's Empire!

From here, you can take on come un-civ nations and wait to become a Great Power to sphere Venezuela. If you are unable to do that, read on.
The Venezuela-capture
Now the last nation that you'll have to take on is Venezuela. Now, they may be allied with some countries around you, so it's inportant to attack them with help, unless your able to handle it on your own, as your own risk. You should go for it's southern regions ast, then work your way up north time over time. Keep in mind your infamy or you'll receive a nasty suprise from Britian or the United States....

After you have taken and completly wiped out Venezuela, you'll have to wait to become a great power. Taking over some un-civ nations are recomended. Then ,after you've reached great power stative, you can en-act a desision to form Gran Colombia, and now you have completed Bolivar's dream!

you do not need to take Costra Rica to form Gran Colombia. I only got it because I was at war with the USCA cause of my ally Mexico....already bullying Central America

And what do I do if the decision bugs and gets blocked?

For those struggling with Brazil: you can try playing as Venezuela and taking Colombian Amazonas for yourself. Britain tends to sphere Venezuela and thus Brazil won't want to fight you.

Attacking Ecuador and Peru is very dumb Imho. Instead you should focus on prestige techs early and attack the USCA whenever they aren't protected by the US. Get to GP status with prestige than sphere Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. Oh yeah and about Brazil, surrender Colombian Amazonas to them ASAP, yes you lose a core but you also open the door to reclaiming the entire Amazon region later for free thanks to said core. Just let Brazil take all its cores back while you build up your army than declare war of reconquest and you won't just get your core but the entire province.

You have one of their cores, amazon rain forest area. It's inevitable and unwinnable imo. Just make peace and give them the land asap

Brazil always declares war on me in the first few 2-3 years of my campaign. I get crushed and lose those cores. How do I avoid them declaring on me?

My main problem is getting stomped by Brazil within the first year. Even with mobilized armies and raising every army I can they just roll over me in Marabitanas. Nobody in SA can stand up to them and I end up losing the war and with it the Gran Colombia core in Amazonas.

I have a question! I hope you can answer it. What do you do if, in the very early parts of the game, Brazil declares war upon you? (BTW, I am trying to to it as Colombia)

Just for future readers regarding prestige, I've read that researching Romanticism column tech first is vital, as you get prestige not only for the tech but for being the first nation to discover the inventions. This is a great way to make the Great Powers list if you can't rely on military and industry.

Same question as those two before. How to make good prestige while waiting for the infamy to go down?

I agree with Killer. When I'm waiting for my infamy levels to go down, so is my prestige and rank, so I make no progress. Necesito ayuda. :c
