Step 1
Hello everyone! back in the day I used to host a terraria server, but with increasingly poorly performing computers, I've has some issues. But, I've since then, I've learned a few new tricks.

Step one: relatively simpler, press the windows key, and the R key at the same time. this will bring up run. once run is open, simply type in CMD (this will open the command prompt and lead to step 2.)
Step 2
Next, you're going to want to type "IPconfig" without the quotes. this is going to give you some basic information about your IP address. this can be used for a myriad of other games too, but for now, all you'll need is the IPv4. grab a pen and mark the number down, or otherwise, use notepad. either way, you're going to need the IPv4 for later in this tutorial.
Step 3
now, this step was relatively condescending before, but with my stint in tech support, there is a possibility to have a lot of different Default gateways. the easiest way to find this is by looking at your router/gateway. this is usually located on a sticker with a bunch of other stuff, including the default login and password for the gateway. if any of the default information has been changed, this might be a little more difficult. especially if you don't know the information. if you are younger, ask a parent for some assistance, if not, don't be afraid to call your service provider and ask for some assistance, they will almost 100% be able to help wth this step.

This website http://www.portforward.com shall assist in your router information if you're having trouble, provided by username: Ghost_ship_supreme
Step 4
Go to the tab that says applications & gaming (note that this may vary depending on your router/provider, i cannot predict ecactly what you're dealing with.) for the application, put terraria, and for the ports, put 7777 in start and 7777 in end, then put the last three digits of your ip in the prompted area. and in protocol where prompted, leave it on both. now save and if done correctly, you should see a screen that says "settings are successful". or some variation of this.
Step 5
Go to the following link http://www.whatismyip.com , and share your public ip with your friends!
Conclusion
hope you are able to utilize this nice and easy instructional. please enjoy playing with your friends, and avoid playing with strangers. giving access to your IP leaves you vulnerable to cyber attack, and I cannot be held liable for the ways and means of which this information is shared. be safe and have fun!

IPconfig tells you 2 things you need to know:
IPv4 Address . . . . . : ***.***.***.***
Default Gateway . . . : ***.***.***.***

Default Gateway is what you need to type into your browser. It will vary from the 192.168.1.1 that is suggested in this guide as an example.

Thanks Madara! Helped me alot! :D::trophy:

I think I've found the problem: I have opened a router port with my ip which was 192.168.0.6, but when I've checked it on cmd the ip changed in 192.168.0.4...
I don't know how it is possbile.
(Sorry for bad english)

I'm sorry, that isn't a part of this guide, provide me with screen shots and detailed descriptions and i will make a guide to coincide with this event.

Excuse me, I have followed all the steps, but when my friends try to connect to my server, they are blocked to the loading screen.
How can I solve this problem?
