Simple guide to all endings (and achievements)

A guide to all 6 endings as well as all the achievements.

Ending 1 and 2

Ending 1 and 2 - Just play the entire game normally and choose both options ('Join them' and 'Reject their offer')

Ending 1 - choose 'join them' - you'll get the achievement 'Became the new Maker'

Ending 2 - choose 'reject their offer' - you'll get the achievement 'Jumped into the void'

Note that if you save the game very far into the walkthrough (such as just before you enter the door in the basement) you can reload the game after finishing one of these endings and get the other ending. This saves having to playthrough again.

Ending 3

Ending 3 - this one is quite hard, I made a completely separate guide and video for it here - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1369590701

However I will write out what to do again here:

You have to do a speed run of the game up to the point where you get the 'Unusual Key (no more than five minutes can be spent up to this point). When you have the key, go back to the 'real' dimension, and open up your father's office door. Then, open up the central drawer, and you will hear a switch click (if it says 'If only I'd have got here sooner' it means you were too slow, so you have to restart and try again). This switch will unlock a door in the other dimension. So go back to the other dimension and open up the door that is equivalent to your dad's room.

Quick note - in order to get the battery in the box in your dad's room, you HAVE to look at the newspaper to the left of the clock first. So even if you type in the right number, it won't work unless you have looked at the newspaper first.

This room is very interesting. (I won't spoil what it contains, find out for yourself) and then there is a computer screen where you can enter a password. If you've played through before (endings 1 and 2) you should be able to figure out the password, but if not, the password is Makers . Not sure if capitalisation matters but it 100% works with the capitalisation I just gave.
When you've entered the room and put the password in, go to the basement room (don't actually go down into the basement, just click on the room to the right of the clock-puzzle one time), and then click on the north-west part of your screen to find a secret door. Go out the door to end the game.

You'll get the achievement 'Did you think you would make it?'

I made a video of this years ago when Without Escape was on the Xbox 360, however since the Steam version is slightly different from the old 360 version, the video may look confusing, but the method to get the secret ending is the same.

Ending 4

Ending 4 - as soon as you drain the blood from the floor in the other world, go downstairs and the text will read something like 'the floor is full of lava'. Simply stay on this screen for about 1-2 minutes and you will get ending 4.

This ending will give you the achievement 'Where's the air conditioner?'

Ending 5

Ending 5 - the first time you get back from the 'other world' to the original world, go to the front door of your house (where you found a key in a bowl and the sweatshirt) and left click on the front door about 10 times. You'll know when you've clicked enough.

This will give you the achievement 'Stubbornness unleashed!'.

Ending 6

Ending 6 - Get the first battery from your room, and then when you enter your father's room for the first time, look at the pictures on the wall and then the books. Open the box (the thing with 'the birth of a prophet' on it) with the password 1990. Then go back to the remote with the batteries and use it.

The other achievements

There are 3 other achievements. Here's how to get them:

'Never around when you need them' - simply dial 911 on the phone.

'Still trying to escape?' - I don't know yet but based on the achievement's picture I'd say this is 'complete the game 10 times'.

'You got all endings!' - get all 6 endings.

Yah "Still trying to escape" is completing 10 playthroughs. Not sure if reloading right before an ending counts towards it, but I just went to get ending 6 till it unlocked.

Ending 6 is missing: "So 90's it hurts"
To get it: When entering on the study, look the pictures of the wall and the books, and open the little safe (when the battery is) with password 1990 (instead 1956), you'll hear windows 98's tada. Then use the TV's remote.

Possibly something to do with the games console, not sure.
