Notes, Tips & Tricks
  • Chapter 5 contains a total of 31 strawberries.
  • This chapter is far less linear than the previous chapters. This video shows a concise route for visiting the important areas and retrieving all collectibles.
  • Platforms on tracks will shoot to the other end of their tracks when you dash. As with other moving platforms in the game, you can use the momentum to your advantage.
  • Dash into green switches to open certain doors.
  • In order to get to the area containing the crystal heart (11:42 in video), you need to collect a key (7:58 in video) and then skip the locked door that you would normally use the key for (see 11:03-11:19 in video).
  • Red bubbles carry you indefinitely in one of eight directions after you jump into them. Press the direction you want to go; otherwise, the bubble will fire left or right (whichever way you were travelling when you jumped into the bubble). The bubble will travel until you dash out of it or it strikes an obstacle. Entering and leaving a bubble will reset your dash.
  • On the screen with the yellow pips, you must collect all three pips without landing on a floor in order to get a strawberry. (You can land on the springboard, however.)
  • The flying monsters will hunt you and dash toward you if they see you. It's possible to hide from them, but they actively search for you once they've seen you. (They can't see through or pass through translucent "energy particle" barriers, but they can pass through red spikes.) While dashing, they can break red platforms and trigger switches. You can jump off of the tops of their heads, which temporarily disables them and resets your dash. (When they transform from their "stunned" state to their normal state after being jumped on, they release a burst of energy. If you're standing close to them when this happens, it will push you a great distance. Use this to your advantage if you can.)
  • While carrying Theo, you move slower, can't jump as high, and can't dash without dropping him. However, he can be thrown a fair distance. Use this to deflect monsters or move him quickly toward your goal. (You can also use him to trigger switches.) Throw him at the giant eye to complete the level.
