High crafting cost and high energy cost. I started using this as i got sick of building rail ways and outposts just for the ore to go and the outpost be pointless.

Dont want to use all of the mod? Try using "AAI Programmable Vehicles", "AAI Signals" and "AAI Vehicles". Seems to work great.
How To: Manaualy Installing Mods (basic guide)
1.) Download your desired mod or mod version from:
https://mods.factorio.com

2.) Move selected file into the directory below:

%appdata%\Factorio\mods
or
C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\AppData\Roaming\Factorio\mods

Obviously "YOUR-USER-NAME" is your computer user name not that.

3.) Launch your game and then enable it in the mod selection screen.

Alternativly download the mods ingame using the name search tool for easyer install!

I am trying to use the AAI programmable vehicles mod , it requires multiple other mods to work and there are three that i don't see on the in game mod list, data-raw prototypes, detached-gun-sounds, and off-grid-effects.

So after testing i had an older version of Rampant installed V0.16.24 that worked fine. Though after the update to V0.16.30 i can confirm it is not working. Though if you manualy install V0.16.24 from the website it should work.

Rampant doesn't seem to work right now, I wish it did.
